[docking at the hotel had been something of a godsend. Originally he was going to attempt to cook himself, but with all of the restaurants at the hotel available, he opted to choose one of them instead. Likely for the best, because he wasn't the greatest cook.

He'd done his research, however, and the dinner - while nothing overly fancy - still had some traditional Christmas and Hanukkah foods - or at least, as close as they could get to them, all things considered. He tried, okay.

But it was a holiday dinner for the four of them, and that was the most important part. It was a first for their family, after all]

I'm not surprised in the least.

[exothermia]

[He folds his hands on the table, with a look of faint exasperation at the establishment.]

You would think a hotel would be more agreeable to the customer's wishes.

[beathach]

You would think that, but it isn't always the case.

[exothermia]

I can't say I've stayed in too many over the years.

[Some, yes, but he rarely did more than check in and lay low. He visited hotels only a couple of times for enjoyment... he glances briefly at Charles, knowing some of them had been here.]

Certainly not one with this much selection in everything.

[he doesn't miss the glance, but pretends he doesn't see it, picking up his wine to take a sip]

Neither have I. This seems more like a resort to me than a simple hotel.

[exothermia]

[Erik grimaces, pushing his food around on his plate.]

I'd say it's more like a contained city, only it's all hotel-oriented.

[beathach]

Mm, or that. I imagine everyone who works here, lives here as well.

[exothermia]

They must. There's nowhere else to go other than the planet.

[beathach]

That's true. Speaking of - have you been down there at all?

[exothermia]

The planet? No - I haven't really felt the need.

[He had gotten a description of the planet below from someone in a cafe, and while it could be a potential change of pace... it doesn't sound as though there's much there. If he were honest with himself, he feels more of a need to recuperate in more comfortable surroundings after his misadventures on the last world.]

That's fair. [it was more the weather that turned Hank off to visiting than any other reason, though lately . . . then again, he'd have to go down at least one day for research purposes] I figured if any of us have, it would have been you.

[exothermia]

...why?

[beathach]

Curiosity?

[exothermia]

I must have run low, after last month. [The two of them had had enough curiosity to last them for a long time.]

[beathach]

Understandably. [all things considered, he isn't too surprised Erik didn't bother after what happened] Besides, I imagine you had enough adventure getting the perfume turned off in your room.

[exothermia]

Don't remind me.

[beathach]

. . . that bad?

[exothermia]

No, I just don't need to be reminded of it.

[beathach]

[he holds up his hands, even if he still looks faintly amused] I won't bring it up again.

[exothermia]

[A smart move, given that in a few days time the perfume will reset itself, and the saga will start again. Erik goes back to his food, pausing every so often to look out over the rest of the restaurant.]

[Hank goes back to his food as well, opting to try some of the things he hasn't had before. He glances up to catch Erik looking out across the restaurant]

It's pretty quiet here during the day. I think they do most of their business during the dinner rush.

I'm surprised they keep daily hours. It's not as though the sun rises or sets in space.

Mm, I thought it was interesting. Some of the other places don't bother, though. Which - I guess is a good thing, when you wake up craving something.

Well, I did notice they don't have set times they serve breakfast.

Ah - that's good to know. I thought that they'd follow the planet's day and night cycle, but - [he shrugs, taking a sip of wine]
