[ the camera focuses on the form of a tall (very tall), teenage girl who has not yet woken up. She's sprawled on her stomach, one arm dangling down as though she rolled over and didn't quite manage to stay on the cot.

It pans down her back, where the tops of two rather nasty-looking scars are peeking out above her tank top. It's a ~very dramatic reveal~ that the viewers back home will probably be deeply intrigued by.

After a moment, she shifts and groans. She pushes herself up, finally awake, and freezes halfway up.

This is not the motel room she was expecting to be in.

Her free hand moves immediately to the small of her back, finding nothing, and then her ankle, finding nothing but army surplus cargo pants and combat boots. ]

Where the fuck are my guns?

[There's an angry girl shouting about guns. Do you:

Manolo will always pick B. He'll wander over, waving a hand in greeting. ]

Our weapons have been taken from us.

[ Yes, Tay, just jump to the conclusion that this is his fault, and not that he's in the same boat as you.

Her fists are balled, and she's all snarls, but there's a flicker of fear in her eyes. She doesn't know where she is, how she got here, or where Nate is, and she's not even armed. ]

[Manolo remains calm. Once you've been trained to face down thousands of pounds of angry, rampaging bull, people are easy. They're less likely to gore your face off, for a start. He raises his other hand to join the first in a placating gesture.]

Easy, senorita, they aren't my bosses. I'm trapped here, just like you are.

[Friendly smile. He's totally harmless, look how harmless he is. ]

I'm Manolo.

[oh hey yelling and swearing. Allen isn't the most outgoing of folks, but you know- it's hard not to notice the volume]

[Still, he replies back at a normal, calm volume]

If it's like anyone else's weapons, they've probably been taken by the people who brought us here.

[some text unhelpfully appears on the nearest network screen.]

[ Tay gives him a once-over ]

Yeah, and I'm not inclined to trust a guy who looks like he escaped from a mariachi band.

[ What can she say? What she lacks in class, she makes up for in sheer volume! ]

[ She gives him a slightly incredulous look ]

Like I want to be unarmed in some strange place with people who could be planning to use me as a blood sacrifice for all I know? No thanks, Dad taught me better than that.

[Well, that insult failed terribly, Manolo grins at the comparison, as if she just told him he could win the Coolest Guy in the Universe award, or something.]

[His smile softens. ]

Anyway, I have no reason to lie to you, besides, I've been told I'm terrible at it.

[ Manolo, she officially thinks you're a weirdo now. ]

...Okay, I take it back, nobody as lame as you could pull off any of this.

He...taught you to demand for your guns back if you're ever taken to be used for a blood sacrifice?

He taught me to always be prepared and never go into an uncertain situation unarmed if I could help it.

[He is totally a weirdo. He can sing her a song about it. The smile doesn't fade.]

[ She snorts ]

Yeah, okay Antonio, if you say so.

[There's a pause. Man, this girl was just a freaked out kid lashing out wasn't she? He knows that one.]

...They don't seem interested in having blood sacrifices. They aren't occultists. It seems more that we were brought here to be watched as some sort of...entertainment.

Everyone whose arrived received a specialization augment. If yours is security, you'll get an armory with weapons once you're assigned to a ship. i don't know how well the weapons in those armories actually work, but I do know it won't be your guns specifically. So I hope you aren't particular about your weapons.

If you aren's security and you don't have one on your ship...well, I supposed it'd be a matter of making do with whatever else you can think of. There hasn't been a need for a fight yet, though.

And I will, I can be pretty determined, when I want to be. I'm not planing on sticking around when I'm needed back home.

It was just an example, I didn't actually think blood sacrifices were happening, that's stupid. I've only run into shit like that once, and it was a bunch of hicks in Virginia.

[ Well. That was... moderately useful information, she supposes. ]

...Well that's something, I guess. How the hell am I supposed to know what my specialization thingy is? Just think real hard about it?

Yeaaaaah, no offence, Ricardo, you don't exactly seem like the sort of guy who's all that competent, so if it's all the same, I'll leave you to play in the kiddie pool, and I'll figure out what I can figure out on my own.

[ See, this is what happens when you raise your children to respect names, families, and specific types of angels, and not people in general. You get cock-sure teenage girls who think anyone who hasn't already proven themselves in some way is incompetent. ]

They replace 'em. Sometimes. Depends on what station you get. Stuff's probably not as good.
