Who: steve rogers circa civil war + you, yes you
Broadcast: nope
Action: various;
When: throughout january

[ new year, new memories and what begins as one monstrous headache.

it takes a couple of hours to sort through everything that's new, to make sense of a kaleidoscope of memories, images and sounds. at first, he starts writing it all down, lagos, the sokovia accords, the UN, black panther.

Only the dry details and nothing of what starts to weight down on his shoulders, faces and names that inspire a heavy, intimate, terrible sort of pain.

And so an avoidance of a sort begins that lasts through the two days the new year. Hours upon hours spend on the library aboard the Iskaulit, reading books and making nothing of them. It's an odd sight, Steve Rogers in one of the corners of the room, staring at a book and randomly picking up a notepad and writing something down ( another detail that comes up, scott lang or spiderman ) and then staring at the notepad only to go back and stare at the book.

He might also be found at odd hours at the gym; evidently, taking out his burdens on a punching bag, seemingly lost in thought even as takes out what seems to be a world of trouble on the thing.

It will take these two days of isolation before those of the fleet start seeing steve rogers off the Iskaulit. He'll make a return to the Starkstruck, though this return, too, will be a reclusive matter one will have to actively seek him to find him in the weaponry or otherwise, in his room. ]

[ Hermione spends more time in the library than she'd care to admit - it's a comfort, really, after years in the Drabwurld and just as long in her own home. Libraries are home to her, even away from everything she had ever known, a source of knowledge and comfort and happiness, and that's what brings her here now. Nothing matters except finding something to bury her head into for a few hours, and she moves through the shelves with a soft expression.

She's surprised when she spots someone familiar, blinking for a moment before she steps over, settling down beside Steve before she offers a small smile. ]

Steve?

[ It doesn't feel as though anything's different, but there's one major problem: Hermione knows that she knows more about Steve than he does about her. He was her friend, in the Drabwurld, and she'd loved him and protected him as fiercely as he had her. Now... Now she has to try and wrap her mind around befriending him again without letting on how aware she actually is. ]

I'm okay, thank you. I've been doing a lot of reading so it's almost like I'm back home.

[ Her eyes scan his face quickly. ]

Are you doing okay?

Sometimes reading is the best thing to do. When in doubt, go to the library.

[ That's what Ron said about her, once, she remembers, and it still leaves a fond, warm impression on her heart. Libraries were important, after all, and so much that she had learned there had helped save people's lives.

No matter how people might have judged her for it.

Her eyes scan Steve's face for a moment before she huffs a noise, shaking her head for a moment. ]

Then maybe it's time for a break - and if I'm suggesting a break from the library then we definitely need it.

Sometimes you need to have one.

[ It's been how many years and it's still something Hermione is learning. Summer holidays had barely been any kind of break for her, and it's not as if she had much time for herself in the Drabwurld, running as much of the Seelie court as she could in her role as Marchioness.

Taking a break is a little bit like asking her to shave her hair off - it's not really going to happen. ]

Well, I like to take a walk around the ship, take a peek into my garden, make sure everything's growing okay...

[ Hermione smiles, taking his hand and lifting herself to her feet to stand at his side. It feels like old times, but that's not fair - she's learned more than enough about being around people that don't recognise nor remember her to keep that to herself. All she can do is smile, nodding her head and tugging gently. ]

Come on, it's this way. I'll give you a herbology lesson.

Plants, of course, and how they can be used in potions.

[ It brightens her up, and she beams at Steve. ]

I'm sure you'd love to learn a little magic.

That's alright. I think I might be a decent teacher.

[ It's not too far to the garden, and Hermione smiles softly as she tilts her head up to look at him. ]

The magic works as something like... An agent to bring it all together. The plants aren't inherently magical, but all together they work.
