Space Bar is back open for business.  Brand new seedy-looking furniture and everything. 

[Wryly.  Well, you take what you can get in a rest stop like this, and it's not like their furnishings were classy to begin with.  She might have had to empty out her double casino winnings for the most part, but what the hell.  It's in the name of business and there will always be more casinos, right?

Anyway.  She's making this announcement from the Space Bar, but she has a lot more to say.]

So...this is the third attack on the Fleet that people know of.  Two by this mystery Fleet and one by a bunch of jackass raiders.  It pretty well stands to reason that it's gonna happen again some  time in the future-- hopefully a lot later rather than sooner, but.  There were a lot of near misses. 

[Aria still hasn't woken up.  For one.]

So a couple things:

One, I'd really appreciate getting whatever information we can together about both groups, and I would assume I'm not the only one.  People actually managed to speak to that first Fleet this time, didn't they?  I know my Comms officer got through, at least.  So what gives that they rescued us this time instead of screwing us over?  We need to work out what the hell is going on there. 

Two, the raiders were pretty cut and dried, and I don't think they had Atroma ties-- at least, their ships aren't compatible with our augments.   I think they were exactly who they said they were.  But even if they don't come back... we weren't prepared for an attack.  And we should be, because I guess space piracy is totally a thing, and next time we might not have a handy bunch of ships lurking nearby to help us out.  Our crews need to be well balanced so that no ship is left without crucial defences.  We need to have some kind of contingency plan in effect fleetwide, even if it's only an outline.  I don't have the experience for that kind of thing, but I know there's people among us who do.

So... if you've got any information, no matter how trivial you think it might be, could you share it?  Experiences, weird stuff that happened, anything.  And ideas for how to deal with this if it happens again would be great, too.  I'm gonna be writing up a policy for my own ship. I'd love to hear what other captains did with theirs.  And definitely, seriously, please give thought to moving to another ship that's lacking your augment if you're already a little redundant on your own.

And sure, maybe. Unless they decide that dramatically dying in some blaze of glory would net them a lot better ratings. Personally, even if I could trust their supposed motives it's better for us to be self-sufficient.

...okay, it's creepy that you'd rather just trust in not staying dead than find alternative means to trusting the Atroma. [It's less accusatory and more dryly wtf, because Nami has a hard time believing that's actually the case.]

Is there something wrong with wanting to look after ourselves and next time not lose so badly we need a rescue from questionable corners?

Shoring up defenses is a natural response to an attack.

Then don't be herded. If you want to look at it another way, I'm trying to find out as much as possible to work out if we are being herded. Also, I very much like staying alive regardless of the reasons.

I think Erik blew up a couple ships by smashing them together? It was pretty flashy.

There seem to be quite a few 'talented' individuals in the 'Fleet'.

Yeah, that seems to be a pretty common thing. I think there are more 'talents' than there are regular everyday people.

[Still, if someone's got magic enough to smash two ships together that's a bonus in her book.] What ship are you on?

I like to tease him by imagining really naughty things when he's around.

Honestly, I think he could use a little fun. He's rather stiff.

I haven't seen a single gold coin for as long as I've been here.

Ahh, yeah that kind of got me too when I first arrived. We've got what's called a credit account which fills up with... a record of money? But you can convert it to the real thing in most places we go. Your comm should have a link to show you how much money you've got.

Pretty new, yeah. I'm- Summer. [ A second of stumbling there. New name. Not used to it. Feels kind of weird TBH. ]

That's a little disappointing. I rather like gold. [ You might be able to tell based on the way she's bedecked in it. ]

I'll have to see about changing my numbers for hard currency at the next place, then.

[Just a bit. The stumbling makes Nami think that's probably not her real name, but it's no skin off her back. Lots of reasons there could be. Instead she grins widely.]

Gold is a wonderful thing. Are you the gambling kind? There's plenty of bars and casinos we tend to go past for distraction, at least.

Usually only with my life, but considering its just numbers I'm not all that attached to it.
