[So this was a thing - space, big ships, being bored, no war, and - most importantly - no Saniwa. That had freaked him out when he first arrived, as well as the fact that him interacting with all these people wasn't going to blow a hole through time and space. But well, here he was and the Keibiishi hadn't shown up to lop his head off, so it must be fine, right? .....Right?

With the usual tinny fanfare, he appears on the Caprine ship and after a quick look around his surroundings, decides to try the little device he's seen his Saniwa talk into before.]

This place is a piece of shit. What the hell happened to it?

And where's my Saniwa? Because it's one thing to go back in time, but this looks like it's forward and I'm not sure I'm supposed to be here. If any of the other swords can hear this, which one of you messed up the dial? Or did one of you idiots lose me on the training mission. If you left me behind, I'm gonna kick your ass when we get back.

[That's okay to ask, right? If it's in the future, then surely they know about time travel since the government sanctioned it to keep the world from exploding.]

So space's supposed to look like this? I don't get why the Saniwa sent me here.

Well, I guess not quite this bad. From what I understand, the whole Fleet got attacked a few weeks ago. What's a Saniwa?

The Saniwa is the one that gave me this body.

[He swings the communicator back around and tries to get it to focus on him. He's obviously not used to this stuff yet.]

And if there was a battle, why call me here after it's done? What use is a sword after the fighting's over?

Oh. Okay. [She still doesn't get it, but she'll press on.]

And I dunno either. Last I remember it was 2205. But why's a kid like you out here? You got some hidden power or something?

2205? Seriously?! [A prolonged groaning noise escapes Tina's mouth.] Uhhhh, I'm not sure. My only real skill is cooking hamburgers, and even then my dad's much better at it than I am...

I guess? [He's pretty sure he serious, but he's also not completely sure about anything in this place. His Saniwa is missing, his comrades gone, it's in the future (?), and there's no reason he can see to summon a sword here.]

What's a "hamburger?" It sounds like food. Is it good?

[That... makes Tina stare and blink for a while before she remembers her manners and that not everyone's from Earth.]

Uh-huh. My dad runs a restaurant, and that's his specialty. I think he makes them better than everyone else, but I guess I AM a little biased there.

[He thinks for a second and then nods.]

Since there ain't a battle to be had here yet, can you make me this hamburger thing instead? Might as well eat if I can't fight.

You seen any of 'em? We usually go around in groups of six if we're in the field. Anything from tanto to oodachi or spears.

Sure, I can try... if I can find any actual meat, I mean. There's a lot of food in gel form...

I'm not sure I would know them just by looking. They're...what...your unit or squadmates?

They're my comrades, sometimes my unit if we're put into battle together. Usually can tell it's one of us 'cause we always got a sword with us - or a spear or a naginata, dependin' on what we come from.

[He hefts his black lacquered sword sheath into view.]

So you seen anyone wearin' old armor or Japanese clothes, carryin' a bladed weapon and it might be one of us.

Won't the old-timers here explain it?

[Because that's how it'd worked at the Citadel. The older swords explained what was going on to the newly manifested.]

Or, uh, why not write one of those 'pamphlet' things, if there isn't one? Make this whole thing a hell of a lot less confusing.
