[So this was a thing - space, big ships, being bored, no war, and - most importantly - no Saniwa. That had freaked him out when he first arrived, as well as the fact that him interacting with all these people wasn't going to blow a hole through time and space. But well, here he was and the Keibiishi hadn't shown up to lop his head off, so it must be fine, right? .....Right?

With the usual tinny fanfare, he appears on the Caprine ship and after a quick look around his surroundings, decides to try the little device he's seen his Saniwa talk into before.]

This place is a piece of shit. What the hell happened to it?

And where's my Saniwa? Because it's one thing to go back in time, but this looks like it's forward and I'm not sure I'm supposed to be here. If any of the other swords can hear this, which one of you messed up the dial? Or did one of you idiots lose me on the training mission. If you left me behind, I'm gonna kick your ass when we get back.

[That's okay to ask, right? If it's in the future, then surely they know about time travel since the government sanctioned it to keep the world from exploding.]

Well, I guess not quite this bad. From what I understand, the whole Fleet got attacked a few weeks ago. What's a Saniwa?

The Saniwa is the one that gave me this body.

[He swings the communicator back around and tries to get it to focus on him. He's obviously not used to this stuff yet.]

And if there was a battle, why call me here after it's done? What use is a sword after the fighting's over?

Huh. Guess I'm not messing with time too much then.

I guess? [He's pretty sure he serious, but he's also not completely sure about anything in this place. His Saniwa is missing, his comrades gone, it's in the future (?), and there's no reason he can see to summon a sword here.]

What's a "hamburger?" It sounds like food. Is it good?

Uh-huh. My dad runs a restaurant, and that's his specialty. I think he makes them better than everyone else, but I guess I AM a little biased there.

You seen any of 'em? We usually go around in groups of six if we're in the field. Anything from tanto to oodachi or spears.

Huh, yeah, I guess we look like humans now.

[He scratches his head.]

They're my comrades, sometimes my unit if we're put into battle together. Usually can tell it's one of us 'cause we always got a sword with us - or a spear or a naginata, dependin' on what we come from.

[He hefts his black lacquered sword sheath into view.]

So you seen anyone wearin' old armor or Japanese clothes, carryin' a bladed weapon and it might be one of us.

Then I don't think I have, but there's all types around here. By all reports, everyone has their weapons confiscated on arrival, though, so it's not great as an identifying mark in this case.

Well if they can separate us from our bodies, this Atroma thing has to be some kinda god. And I'll fight a god if it comes to it. I ain't lettin' anyone take my damn body from me.

Buuuut then he realizes that not all the humans here are probably completely familiar with what his saniwa would know, so he tries to explain.]

I'm a tsukumogami, a spirit, of a sword. What you see is a manifestation of my spirit into a physical body.

[Yeeeeeah, he probably sounds crazy now, doesn't he?]

Yeah...I'm startin' to learn that most people here aren't gonna know what I am.

[He sighs.]

I'm a sword and a person at the same time, that's about the sum of it.

Right. Well...I can't say that makes a whole lot of sense, but I think I get the idea.

[He shrugs.]

Can't say it makes a hell of a lot of sense to me, either, but here I am.
