[Sorey is just finishing up assembling their second engine when he feels it.

The abrupt lack of something, deep inside him, resonating like the strike of a gong. He smacks a hand against a bulkhead to keep from lurching forward and smacking his face into the wall, reaching frantically out for cords attaching his soul to his seraphim. Dezel, Zaveid, Mikleo-

Lailah.

She's still there, it's still there, but weak and distant. Like Edna's. The warmth of her fire has vanished, barely a flicker of what it was when she was here. Does that mean she's been sent home? Gods, Sorey hopes it does, prays that's what it means and not something...not something horrible.

To be sure he jumps to his feet and rushes out to check the ship for her. Maybe just- maybe something just happened, an augment glitch, maybe she just traveled too far from the ship for him to feel her (but he's pulled Dezel's wind across the ships before, it shouldn't have changed anything). He grabs his comm and hurriedly locks a broadcast; he has to check on the others, make sure they're okay, to see if they're still here.]

Broadcast. CLOSED

Guys?! Are you still here, is everybody okay?

We'll get better. Sure, it'll be sore for a while, but it's not like she's gone. You can still feel her, right? [ Zaveid's trying, at least. It seems like only yesterday that he and Lailah were on their date and now... Well, now she's gone.

Huffing a noise, he shrugs even though Sorey can't see it. ] Yeah, I'll be fine.

You can still feel her too, right? Through the pact?

I've never stopped feeling her.

... Sure. [ It comes out nonchalant, but it's still hesitant, that's obvious. ] It'd probably do us good, huh?

It couldn't hurt. We're just sitting together is all. Dezel had to go to his shift, though, but I think he wanted a little time alone. You know how he is.

Yeah, let me worry about him. I know how to crack him.

[ By sitting on him and holding his hand until he shouts... Or fighting until they both break. ]

If you guys are gonna have a huge punchout or something, could you take it to the training rooms on the Iskaulit? The ship's still kind of rickety...

I'm really glad you're getting along better. Maybe he'll remember something soon.

[ There's some real, honest fondness in Zaveid's voice when he speaks, something almost a little too gentle. ]

I don't care about him remembering anymore. This is who he is, and I don't mind that.

I see. [And that makes Sorey's heart swell with affection for them both.] He's actually very kind, isn't he?

[ If Sorey was there Zaveid might be a little red, but since he isn't... ]

Tch, don't let him hear you saying that. [ But... ] He's got a good heart. That hasn't changed.

So he was like that when he was younger, too. -say actually, was Dezel a child seraph, and he just grew up like Mikleo is?

Yeah, something like that. [ Zaveid hums. ] You're imagining him as a little kid, now, huh?

Kind of. ...okay, yeah. A little while before we left Elysia, Natalie had found these drawings someone did of us when we were little and Mikleo was just so cute. I was just wondering if you knew Dezel like that.
