I'm probably looking too much into this but-

[He shifts, wincing slightly as he sits more upright.]

We're here for entertainment right? Could Atroma have staged that attack? It doesn't seem like they gave a damn during the attack and, I mean, the Marsiva wasn't touched, was it? What would be more entertaining for people than seeing us all in real danger?

If they're willing to just kidnap us, they wouldn't be above this!

I've suspected for a long time that they were going to pull a stunt like this, yes.

I'm more surprised that it didn't turn out worse. I wonder if that other fleet was supposed to help us or not.

I'm glad it didn't, but all the same- the attackers WERE pretty vicious, so I'm also surprised we didn't have more casualties.

[She rubbed her chin.]

That's a good question. There's the fact that we just HAPPENED to land on a planet with plentiful supplies right after the attack, which makes me believe Atroma staged it. But those others... I can't decide if that was part of the script or not.

Wouldn't that really get people excited though? Watching us fight for our lives, knowing someone might die? Maybe a favorite?

It's too convenient. Everything is, the fact that no ships were lost, that we were relaxed, we let our guard down.

I'm torn on that part. In the past, I feel like Atroma's only put us close enough to danger to give the show a sense of danger and peril, not actually in the way of bodily harm. Like that's not what the audience wanted. It's possible their tastes have changed, though- maybe they're bored and want higher stakes.

[She nodded.]

There's that, too. We were all at a resort, after all- nobody would've expected this so soon after.

They must have gotten bored. I don't know much about what happened before I came here but it must have gotten dull. The only other reason I can think of is chance and something like this doesn't seem like chance now.

We've had dangerous things happen before- things like augment glitches, or our systems going out for a few minutes and so on, and even an attack once. But it was never this severe. I never feared for my life, but I did with this attack.

I suppose you've got a point. [He's still so suspicious though. It's too perfect.]

Hey... you know if you're ever afraid like that again, maybe the ships can be set up with an area you can't access normally or maybe not easily. For safety. And you can call on me if this happens again while we're here.

[Jennifer smiled at him.]

I appreciate the offer. I'm not too great in a fight, but we still managed to make it out okay. But I have to consider something like that for the future, since not everyone who gets pulled here can fight. And I tried to keep myself safe so I could deal with the aftermath.

I never though I was either but magic has been pretty useful for me lately. Still, the offer is there.

Magic is a pretty awesome thing to have on your side, isn't it? I almost wish I could use it myself, but I'm happy with what I have, too.

It definitely is. I used it to steal cookies when I was a kid. [Heh. Super useful.]

I would offer to try teaching but it's not something you can just teach anyone. On Azeroth, anyway.

Hey, at least it was something age appropriate. And I'm not sure I could learn, anyway. We don't have any magic or anything like that where I come from, so the potential most likely isn't there. I get along pretty well without it, but I'm more than willing to utilize magic users when they're available to me.

Yeah, and you have to be born a mage or priest or shaman to learn magic on Azeroth. And I'm definitely around if you ever need a mage.

I appreciate it. I feel like magic and technology working together can accomplish anything we couldn't do alone.

It would definitely be interesting. I look forward to seeing what we'll all be capable of.
