[Sokka keeps tabs on his crew a lot, but there's a few scant people outside of the Blue Fish he absolutely tried to check up on as and when he can. After the...weird hyperactivity effects he'd experienced wore off, he made to check up on exactly one of those people. And his search came up empty.

So, he turns on the video, stepping out of one of the shuttles and heading through the hallways of the Blue Fish, heading to the bridge]

I'm not sure who she knew all that much, so I'm making this public in case anyone's missed it and gets worried about her.

[He flops down into his captain's chair with a heavy sigh. This sucks.]

Korra's gone. Home, hopefully. Which is probably a better thing for her. Important Avatar business and all that.

[And then there was one. Again.]

[ she doesn't dare intrude upon his sadness. so, instead, she offers him the same distance and comfort he'd offered her when her brothers left. ]

Is there anything I can do to help?

[Sansa. He can't help but smile a little as her message pops up. He's instantly reminded of when Bran and Jon vanished, and so her request only has one real answer, truly. ]

I could really use some tea and your lovely company.

We could meet in the kitchen. Or, mayhaps, my solar.

[ solar. it's what she's settled on calling her 'personnel office' -- the word makes more sense to her ever since she's started to reconsider herself as a political entity within the fleet. robb needs all the help he can get. ]

[At least he knows what she means. It works better. Sounds much more like her than office. Office sounds too clinical. ]

Your solar it is. I'll be there soon

Please -- wait for me there if the room is empty. I won't be long. Every time I make tea the process seems quicker and quicker.

[ or she's just getting used to doing things for herself. ]

I won't go anywhere. I promise.

[And, as promised, she will find him just inside her room, waiting for her. He's even managed a tired smile for her. ]

[ bit by bit, she's learning to trust the promises other people offer her. sokka's, she's certain, are worth more than gold. ahsoka's certainly were. she remains acutely aware, however, that her own promises are hollow knee-jerk things. not worthy of anyone's trust -- she'll promise anything, she knows, so long as it helps her cause.

but this is a small promise and she's happy to see it kept. when she returns to her solar, she has two very generous mugs of tea. forgoing a tray, she carries them by their handles. ]

It's got lavender in. And honey. [ soft and fragrant. perhaps not to the taste of a hardened warrior like himself, but she remembers how lavender soothes her. maybe it will help him. ] I hope it suffices. Tell me if it doesn't, [ she passes him his portion, ] and I'll brew something else. Promise.

[ -- and there's one. a promise like bandage. like a piece of armour. ]

[He doesn't think he could break a promise to Sansa. Not without doing everything in his power to see it through first, anyway. She's been let down too many times in her life to add himself to the list of people who have failed her. No matter how small the promise is.

He takes a sip of the tea, it's not a familiar taste to him- but it is soothing. He lets out a soft, satisfied exhale. ]

Don't you dare. This is great.

-- Truly?

[ after the frenetic happiness of not-so-long ago (courtesy of an augment glitch), sansa's smiles are back to being somewhat subdued. little, but no less well-meant. she bows her head with unbridled relief. ]

Good. Drink up, and then tell me about your friend. I want to hear all about her.

Truly.

[Those wide smiles were wonderful, but he can live with these ones too. They're genuine, just as important- maybe even more so. He does as he's told, taking a drink.]

It's quite a crazy story, I warn you now. It's got magic and everything.

-- I'll manage. [ promise. after all, the fleet has done a great deal to open her eyes. from magic, to the force, to simple technology. she's learned a lot. ] As long as you want to tell it.

Okay.

[Wow, where to even start with this ride? ]

Okay, so have I told you about Aang? About him being the Avatar?

[Start off small, get bigger. ]

You haven't, no. But your lady sister did. [ her expression is patient -- and just a little sympathetic. how cruel to discuss others who have left them. ] It seemed as though it might be an awful lot of responsibility for one boy's shoulders.

[ says the girl whose brother became a king. ]

[There's a twinge of pain, but he covers it up well. He misses Katara a lot, but he'd rather her have the chance of being home than being trapped here.]

It was, and it is. Well, when the Avatar dies, their spirit moves on into another person- so they never really die-die, they just...become someone new. Korra was that. She's the next Avatar after Aang.

[ -- like old prophecies of salt and smoke! sansa's eyes widen (just a little) but she manages to nod. she manages to accept, even if only in abstract, what sokka is telling her. ]

Tell me. Is she Aang? I do not understand. Does he become her?

I...yeah, kind of. I mean, she's her own person, too. But she's connected to Aang too, and all the other Avatars before them.

[Wow he hopes he's explaining this on any level of sanity and doesn't sound like a crazy person. ]

The Avatar can talk to their past lives- when they go into this trance. Ask their advice on things.

How fortuitous for them. [ that they should have a wealth of experience to call upon, should they need it. sansa isn't certain she believes it all -- not perfectly -- but she knows she'll get nowhere if she's stubborn and argumentative. ] So seeing her is at least a little like seeing your dear friend again.

[Sokka isn't a hundred percent certain he completely believes it, either, and he's witnessed it. It's a bit much for anyone. ]

A little, yeah. She was familiar, but not at the same time. It was super weird.

I can't even imagine it. [ that's true, at least. sansa thinks of all the people she's ever cared about -- and then about the possibility of meeting them again, but in another's body. it sounds like something out of a dream.

or a mummer's tale. ] Is she brave and honourable like your friend was? Because she is the Avatar, too?

[ -- with a whole world depending on her. ]

She is! I mean, she's always willing to help people who need it. I'm pretty sure that's always an Avatar thing.

[It's strange to think of Aang in the past tense. He's fine, alive, back home. But one day...well, one day, that won't be the case, and it seems they'll all be alive for that. He kind of dreads it. Best not to dwell too much on it.]

-- Which do you suppose comes first? I wonder if one is helpful and brave first, and therefore they are the Avatar -- or whether being one makes a person helpful and brave. [ ... ] Do they take oaths, like knights?

They don't take oaths...I don't think? I mean, Aang said they decide if someone's the Avatar by bringing them a set of toys. the Avatar always picks these old toys that were owned by their previous lives...or something.

I don't quite get it all, it's a bit out of my depth.

[Far too much MAGIC involved, for him. ]

-- Toys?

[ she understands how today might be difficult for sokka. and yet she still can't quite hide her disdain. ] What should playthings have to do with such a calling? Such a duty?

I really wish I knew. Something about their past lives connection? It's weird.

I mean, they do check to see if the Avatar can bend all the elements, maybe it's to see if the connection to the past lives is still there? To know for sure?

[He shrugs. ]

I honestly don't understand half the Avatar stuff I've been told. It's insane.

I imagine a child might just as easily pick the 'right' toys by accident. [ children are like that, she presumes. ] But, as you say, they check for -- the elements.

[ 'bending' is much like witchcraft to her, too, so she avoids addressing it head-on. ]
