[The video function turns on to the hesitantly smiling face of a young woman. Blue hair and pointed ears mark her as somewhat different— or they would if this wasn’t a space fleet carrying residents from all over the multi-verse. She waves at the camera, a slight tilt of her head the only immediate indication of any puzzlement, but concern is detectable.]

Ah… hi there. I’ve gone through the information on the computers— or at least what looks like the basics, so I’m trying this now. [She stops, backtracking somewhat.] Obviously I’m new, I think. I just woke up an hour or so ago. I’m still trying to process this, if it’s not a really weird in-game event.

[Her expression sobers for a brief moment before she continues.] Because this isn’t what I normally look like, not really. So…

[And here she catches herself.] Oh, sorry! My name’s Asuna. If anyone has clarification, I’d love to hear it. Thank you.

[Nightingale has to watch that video for a moment. Because she knows the name, and the game talk makes it pretty obvious who this girl is, but Kirito never mentioned that she was an elf. Not what she normally looks like, though, means it's possible? Nothing for it but to ask, then.]

It's really weird, but it's not a game.

[Huh. Out of all the people who don't look human, this is the first one who mentioned the way they really look. It gets him curious enough to answer:]

[There aren't enough exclamation points to fully convey how surprised Kirito is right now. He knows her voice immediately - how could he not, even if it has been far too many months, even if he's not used to seeing the Undine avatar in graphics as vivid as reality - but to hear her introduction, to have it really confirmed... and for her to be here...]

Not a game... [She looks and sounds doubtful, but she quickly clarifies.]

It's not that I don't believe you, it's just a lot to accept, and I-- [Well that question gets her attention! She perks right up, as if her reaction isn't the answer itself.]

Yeah, I like the Paisley. It's sort of become a third home, at this point.

[She gets a weak chuckle of appreciation, the nods.]

Thank you, it's good to know. [Asuna pauses.] And what's your name? I'm sorry I haven't asked that yet.

Also she's talking with his friend so things'll happen soon.]

Good, I'm glad. [She seems hesitant for a moment before she asks.] Hey, you're able to make this just between us, right?

[She doesn't expect it will. It didn't for Kirito. Still, she has to try.]

[She sighs, but shakes her head with a small smile.]

[she is not sure what their relationship is. do in-game marriages even count to them? why are you kids so weird.]

[Ah, she's caught him, now. he should know better than to try and hide from her; nobody knows him the way Asuna does.

At least with the filter on he can be a bit more honest about it.]
