[ Maglor shrugs at him wryly ]

I am my father's son, still. [ He says simply ] And my mother was no less stubborn than he. We will see. Change comes slowly to my people in any case. But sometimes it is necessary.

No. Father never owned us - but he had our love, and our loyalty. Even in his madness. So I suppose we will have to.

[ Maglor shrugs wryly, and Kai might notice that he keeps his hands carefully folded so as not to show his palms ]

It is not an easy tale to tell, either, nor to recall.

[ Though for Kai, the hard thing is that loyalty that apparently still binds. ]

I shouldn't try and numb things with drink - I've done it before and it never actually helps.

Yeah, well, I'm not going to criticize what works when the situations already shitty.

[ Especially when Maglor doesn't seem to have a solution to try. ]

[ Maglor laughs softly, a sound without humor ]

When I drink, the Song only gets louder, and the reasons for staying on board get harder to remind myself of. So I will probably have to lock myself in my room with my harp and hope we leave soon.

Good, because my evening plans consist of staying on the ship. I'd hate to have to change them.
