(no subject)
Who: Pavel Chekov
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: For the crew of the SS Wonderduck (and video for everyone else)
When: Now
[Chekov wishes he could be surprised or, at the very least, unsettled when he wakes up in a foreign place, but there's a point at which this sort of thing becomes a fairly routine--if always unpleasant--occurrence. Losing people is never easy, no matter the universe, no matter the number of times it happens.
But taking stock of the situation and establishing who is here has to come before mourning those who were left behind in MarinaNova. To that end, Chekov, somewhat familiarized with his new home and in clothes that are slightly more dignified than the pajamas that he initially woke up in on the Marsiva, begins a broadcast. Are you listening to this in Standard/English/Common? If so, enjoy the ridiculously thick Russian accent.]
This is Lieutenant Pavel Andreievich Chekov of the Federation starship Enterprise. If you have met me already or if you are affiliated with Starfleet, please respond to this message. [He smiles even though he's in no real mood to be cheerful.] I would also be happy with replies from you if we're strangers.
Thank you for your time.

That I do, she is a good friend of mine. She's rather good at making the Tourist more welcoming.
Video;
It's appreciated--the greetings, I mean. New universes are always daunting.
Have you been here for very long, Fenris?
Video;
Two years. Just over, in fact.
Video;
[He tilts his head.] Has it been difficult? I've never been in a place like this quite so long, but I did outstay many friends. That, I think, was almost as hard as being away from home for such an extended period of time.
Video;
Video;
I'm sorry that I mentioned this. [The topics of losing people are being away from home are at the forefront of his mind today. He smiles uncomfortably.] I have known you for two minutes and already I've made you unhappy.
Video;
[He gives a soft wave of his hand. The joys of getting to know Fenris sure to centre around learning he's miserable 80% of the time.]
No, I am fine. I am quite content right now. You needn't worry yourself too much in that respect.
Video;
[Oh, well. As long as his misery is self-generated and not Chekov's fault, they'll get along just fine!]
May I ask where else you were held captive? Few people I've met have also been to other prisons.

Video;
But all prisons can be escaped.
Video;
Though honestly, after learning what awaits my world in general, I would rather not return there.

Video;
I tried to take someone back with me from another prison I was in--someone else who had nothing good to return to. I like to think that he made it to another version of my universe, maybe with another version of me.
Video;
I should hope so, too. I would not like to think all of this- moving through other worlds, meeting others, would end up pointless.
Video;
None of this is pointless, I'm sure of that.
