[ The feed opens up with a view of the Heron's cargo bay, set upon a surface and focused on a very plain, yet sizable crate set in the center. Bucky comes into view, absolutely suspicious of the box addressed to him. He circles the crate a few times before kneeling and pulling out a knife so he can shimmy the lid off. It's removed very carefully and set to the side, much like he's diffusing a bomb. It may as well be, he knows what day it is, and this is obviously some weird thing from the Atroma.

He lifts a piece of paper from the top, skims through it quickly and crumples it and tosses the offending thing across the cargo bay. Bucky takes out a package that looks harmless enough- the crate is filled to the brim with very questionably made bottle rockets? Fiddling with it ends in a very harmless but extremely unnecessary explosion of glitter and confetti.

Boy, those sure aren't very nice words are they? Bucky seems to realize that the communicator is broadcasting this catastrophe, so a very glitter and confetti-covered captain stomps over to the device to shut it off. Not long after, a text comes through the network. ]

I don't care who takes the damn things, just get them off my ship. There are 99 more...

[ Throughout the day, Bucky can probably be found sulking around the Heron, or sitting in the kitchen trying to clean glitter out from between the plates of his arm. His mood would be so much better if there were cake. ]

[ He never expects Steve to paint the town. He's given up more than enough for him, one more thing doesn't need to be added to the list. Bucky raises an eyebrow curiously at the flask.

'Superbrew' sounds interesting, though he's inclined to believe it doesn't work. ]

May have escaped your notice, Steve, but we can't get drunk.

We can on this. Trust me, I don't remember much of New Year's Eve.

[ though he had drank entirely too much back then for the exact same doubt that bucky now shows. ]

Trust me, that stuff works.

And it took you three months to share it? I should be annoyed.

[ But it's Steve, and he's sharing now. It's good they both had a good New Year's, though. They don't get many of those. ]

For how long? [ He reaches for the flask, still a little skeptical. He doesn't get that lucky. Maybe it'll work for Steve and not him. That would be a disappointment, wouldn't it? ]

Took 'em a while to brew another bottle. I don't think they considered the other one won't last.

[ but christmas and new year's eve has done their thing and quicker than expected. ]

Quite a while. They've adapted it to my - our - metabolism.

Well, if this really works, then they'll have all the credits they could ever want.

[ Because he's going to be their best customer and fund all of that. Bucky considers the flask for a moment before taking a large swig. The warmth burns down his throat and settles in his belly in a way that he can vaguely recall. He decides right then that it's a feeling he's going to chase the rest of the night. ]

[ an arched eyebrow, a small smile, as if he's waiting for his opinion and judgement on the matter. ]

Safe to toast with?

It'll more than do. [ He takes another drink, almost reluctant to hand the flask back over. ]

Well.

[ he'll lift the flask, toast to him. ]

Happy birthday, Buck, glad we get to celebrate it together and I'll want that picture back.

[ before it'll reach peggy and he'll never hear the end of it ever again. ]

[ Just to bring the point home, he slides his communicator back into his pocket. Going to have to take it if you want that picture back, Steve. ]

[ he tries to reach for it ]

[ He's just going to sidestep a little. ]

So, you brought drinks. We need to get to the bottom before too long.

[ He puts his hand in his sleeve and uses it to brush some of the glitter off Steve's shoulders. ]
