[ tadashi shoots hiro a pointed and borderline smug look. ]

Hey, she was my friend first.

[ but he's slowing down and taking a breath, dragging his fingers through his hair and affecting an expression that's definitely apologetic. he feels bad - for rushing into the fire, for dying, for not being able to greet her to her face when she'd arrived. For not seeming to take this more seriously.

so he drags his fingers through his hair, trying to smooth it down, before he simply approaches honey lemon and drags her into a tight hug. quietly, solemnly, he murmurs: ]

It's good to see you.

[ Honey just laughs at Hiro's face and ruffles his hair, probably intending to say something silly because teasing Hiro good-naturedly is just one of the many things she's started doing in Tadashi's absence.

But then Tadashi's mood kind of shifts, and it's not bad certainly, just... more serious. More important. She'll wait for him to be ready, and when he is, when he pulls her into that hug, she just wraps her arms around him and holds on for dear life. ]

It's good to see you too. [ She will not cry. Still, her voice is a little wavery and her face is out of view pressed into Tadashi's shoulder, so it's hard to tell if that's a declaration or a failing goal. ] I love Hiro to bits, but it's not the same without you there.

[ she sniffles, then pulls back, grinning widely and wiping away the almost-tears with one hand ] I should probably let you eat before the food gets cold.

... You brought food?

[look who's totally ready to uh move on from this part of the conversation???? god this is hard to watch tadashi deal with and seeing honey lemon cry is not much easier.]

I haven't had anything actually edible in weeks.

[ishere]

Yeah?

[ tadashi glances over at hiro, but he seems reluctant to let honey go. she's a lifeline, something from home, another person here that he cares about dearly. he wants to make sure she's okay, but maybe hiro's right: maybe it's not the time.

he gives her another little squeeze before letting go and backing up. ]

Don't listen to him. He's definitely getting heavier.

[ Oh, don't think she didn't notice that reluctance, Tadashi Hamada. She straightens her glasses and links arms with him, holding up the basket with her free hand. ]

It's just bread and cheese, mostly. And some sausage and apples. But it's super fresh! Where should we eat?

[Hiro starts gesturing down the halls.]

We do have something like a kitchen on this ship. Or we could eat in the lab. The lab has a little more space.

The lab sounds good to me. Lead the way, brat?

[ tadashi idly squeezes honey's linked arm with his own, tipping his head to indicate the way. ]
