Indeed. [There's a pause as he glances towards the kitchen,] I don't want to keep you or Misty waiting, but would you like some tea? We have black, green - not the dispenser kind, and some herbal.

[Oh, green tea. It's been a while. Makie smiles.]

I would enjoy some tea, yes. Please. I can let Misty know I'll be in the kitchen.

Of course. [He returns that smile, leading the way. The ships are identically similar, so it's not really for any real purpose except - well, hospitality.] You could take some to her too, probably.

[Ironically they aren't too similar now, that's for sure. Not since the weird fusion that took place-- but that doesn't mean she's not well familiar with the turns Stefan takes.]

I think she'd like that.

Misty joined this ship for you, did she not? You've been... good friends for a long time.

Ever since she arrived. [He tilts his head thoughtfully.] I don't know, it was like... we clicked almost immediately, and things kind of happened from there.

I'm glad to hear it. [She likes Misty having friends.] I must confess I was taken a little by surprise when she opted to leave, but that was only because I'd yet to meet you. Our paths hadn't crossed. Though likely, the fault for that is mine.

[She's a shut-in.]

It's my fault too. I don't stop to think about it much, but I've gotten so busy since I arrived, with the ship and the interfaith center and then with whatever's happening on the planet...

[ He laughs, nervously shuffling into the kitchen and motioning for her to take a seat on one of the barstools. ]

[She starts at that. Why would you...?]

[There's a flicker of honest and dark amusement at the word comfort-- its connotations to Makie are far different. It's gone again, quashed quickly in light of Stefan's genuine intent.]

I appreciate that you would think as much. It seems Misty has spoken highly of me.

Of course she has. Misty loves with her whole heart, and if anyone's managed to reach that... they're pretty special.

[ As they head into the kitchen, Stefan gets the electric kettle ready and reaches for the loose tea he's kept from various planets. None of this dispenser nonsense for a new friend. ]

How do you take your tea?

[...she. Hasn't been asked that before. Uh.]

No, seriously – honey? Alien sugar? Some nectar thing I picked up a few planets ago? I try to keep the good stuff around.

[She can't help the faint smile that breaks out. So many options.]

Thank you. But truly, I think I'd prefer my tea without such interesting extras.

[ He laughs, reaching over and pouring their drinks now. As always, he adds a little powdered milk to his own. ]

For the record, the sugar's not that different from what we have on Earth.

Mmm. I never really sweetened my drinks. I suppose the more bitter taste stands out more.
