[Waking up in a strange place is, sadly, something Shiro has done before. A couple of times actually. He must admit, though, he appreciates the lack of a headache this time. The worry is strong when he realizes he lost communication with his team, and there's nobody around to answer his questions. At least that means not bad guys either?

His body feels great (how, after that battle?) so he doesn't waste time investigating. Moments later he's at the cafeteria, eating something that is not goo (thank goodness) and going through the files on his new communicator. The idea of a reality show and that augment implanted in his head isn't well received at all, but there's something more urgent he should check on first. There are no signs of it on the network, but you can never be too safe.

The feed starts as he's taking off his helmet, his sci-fi-ish suit of armor and the calmness he speaks with not making him look a newbie at all. Someone familiar with military training, though, may find a bit of that on him.]

Hello. I'm Shiro, a new arrival to this... fleet. [He's about to say "this show" but ugh, he doesn't want to think about that.] Space isn't news to me, but alternative universes are. So I still feel I must ask: has any of you encountered or heard of an alien race called Galra? They aren't good news, and I wouldn't want them to have followed me here. Thanks for any information you can provide.

[Action | It's shuffle time on the SS Blameless! - Saturday 18th]

[The confetti is met with an unamused face, and Shiro is still brushing it off his armor as he makes his way through the ship, helmet under an arm and eyes attentive. The pudding is tempting (he isn't a huge chocolate lover but gosh, he hasn't tasted it in forever) but it can wait for now. First, he needs to meet his crew. Shiro is still a firm believer of teamwork, so it'll be better for everyone, he thinks, if he gets to know these new people as soon as possible.

He doesn't rush it though. Familiarizing himself with the ship is also important, so he walks through the hallways at a calm pace, taking in all the details and wondering what kind of piloting it'll require. Whenever he sees someone, he speaks up, tone and body language as friendly as it can be.]

Excuse me. Hi. I believe I'm the new pilot of the ship. [He offers his right hand and, if the person decides to take it, they'll notice it feels harder than a human hand. As if it was made of metal.] You can call me Shiro.

[ There's been a few new members to the crew lately and with Hank off in his own little world - sleeping, and he'll be back, Raven tells herself - it's down to her to go out of her way and make sure they're settled in. She'd done her best with Lunafreya before and now they've got a brand new pilot she's off to welcome to their quiet, happy little corner of space.

Of course, he gets to her first, and she blinks. Still, she shakes his hand, making no comment on the strength of it or it's material - she's the one walking around blue, after all. ]

Raven Darkholme. First mate.

[Wait'll you hear about the 8-year-old Captain.]

Not that anybody I've spoken to knows of, and some of my crewmates have been here for over a year. They prefer to sit back and watch, I guess.

I have heard of no such race, though there are many who have been here longer than I. Perhaps you could describe them?

[Which means he doesn't know the text comes from someone nearby, so he just replies normally. If this person likes to keep it short then he won't push for more.]

[Fie looks amused at his decorum, so instead of texting back, she calls across the Marsiva.]

[If he looks, he'll see her in one of the bunks.]

[Her being blue doesn't bother him at all - in fact, considering the aliens he's used to? She looks average, just a person with a different skin color. He acknowledges her comment with a nod and a smile, internally thankful for the lack of questioning on his arm.]

Raven. It's nice to meet you. So the ships of the fleet follow usual hierarchy? I assume there's a captain that will set our course?

Over a year? [He looks a bit alarmed for a second there before he goes back to his usual poker face. That's a freaking long time, and he has shit to do back in is world. Atroma keeps losing points by the second.] So for them we're just their entertainment.

[It reminds him of-- no. He can't think about that now. Especially in front of this young girl. Focus, Shiro.]

[...creeping behind him. Right. Shiro just arches an eyebrow at that, and he realizes he's become used to that kind of comments. Gosh, he hopes his team is okay.]

I promise you there's nothing creeping behind me right now, Sokka. But thanks for your answer. Two years? That's a long time to be caught here.

[He sounds rather somber when he says that. It's the first impression he's gotten from the fleet so far.]

[It says a lot about his life when it's the military manner that gets him and not the fox ears.]

Trust me, it's not a name you forget once you hear about them. [But she's right, a description may help! So he starts by the obvious.] Purple. They're purple, and quite tall. Yellow eyes. Their features vary, but most of them have large ears, similar to a cat or a bat.

[Her own ears twitch a bit at the mention of cat ears, but she otherwise doesn't comment on that part.]

No, I have seen no purple people. They otherwise appear human, aside from coloration?

[She doesn't make a move to get off the bunk, but she does look up at him this time.]

Uh-huh. I've only been here for... a month and a half myself, but it's already felt too long. I've never considered myself star material, so the WHY of it's a bit strange to me, too.

Good to hear, that'd be creepy. And yeah, I guess so. My best buddy was stuck in another kidnapping world before this one, though. He's been away for, wow, like eight, nine years. Something like that. He's got me beat in that.

[ Raven crosses her arms, watching him. He seems like a proper soldier, or at least someone that's used to a chain of command and following orders, and she shakes her head. He's in for a bit of a shock. ]

It's a ceremonial title. Hank can't really command his way out of a paper bag.

[ But she says it lovingly, as only a fiance can. ]

[The why? He has theories - not very nice ones. And he doesn't want to start talking morbidly in front of this girls. She's different from Pidge, it's the impression he's gotten so far.]

[Well, eye contact is a start! He nods, attention now on her instead of the communicator.]

Is this your first time in space? [He gets the feelings that's the case for most people and he can't help wondering how they feel about it.]

[That answer takes him by surprise, so at first he just blinks. When what she means actually reaches his brain, he relaxes and chuckles. He doesn't think it's weird of her to talk like that about someone close. Shiro loves his team back home, but he'll also admit they drive him crazy. Affectionate criticism, really.]

So I have flying freedom? I admit I like the sound of that. [He won't be able to go as fast here as he flies with Black, but it's still something pretty cool. Well, as cool as it can be in this context.] I suppose I shouldn't have expected actual titles from these kidnappers that throw random people together. Is it hard here to work as a crew?

[He makes the word "crew" sound pretty important. Because it is for him.]

[ Her and Hank and Cisco - they were a little group and she was particularly protective of them. Kate, too, and they were all under her wing. She's one of the eldest here, now, hitting her forties despite looking like a teenager for the last twenty years and she knows that she's taking on a responsibility the others might not care for her to have.

All the same, they're her people. She doesn't want them to be hurt, to be sad, to be damaged. Or worse. ]

We work well because we don't mess around with each other. If there's a problem we talk about it. [ She finally shrugs a shoulder. ] I'm not going to tell you what to do but I'll help you if you need it.
