I've definitely got skills to spare at least. Engineering, gardening, counseling- I'm pretty skilled at Klingon martial arts. Not a Dahar Master but still pretty good.

They're a humanoid warrior race from the Beta Quadrant, the planet Qo'nos. You can recognize them by the forehead ridges and stubbornly clinging to their honor.

A large part of my race are symbiotic. I'm just the latest host to the Dax symbiont.

I've been a scientist a couple times so I can understand.

You're fine though, I'm actually kind of bad at explaining it so be patient? I'm a Trill humanoid. Right here, [she places her hand over her belly, a little over her ribs] we all have a pocket. Kind of like marsupials. A Trill symbiont can be joined with us here. They can live for... more than twenty-thousand years, at our best guess. So after a host dies, the symbiont is implanted into another host, our memories intact as part of the symbiont.

[he leans forward a little bit as she explains, very clearly interested and absorbing every word]

Wow . . . so you remember all of your - ah, past hosts? And what you did while you were with them?

Every one of them. Lela was a politician, Tobin was a scientist, Emony was a gymnast, Audrid was on the Trill Symbiosis Commission, Torias was a pilot, Joran a musician, Curzon was a diplomat and the Federations ambassador to the Klingons, Jadzia was a scientist, and I'm a counselor.

That's . . . a lot of important positions to hold, not - taking into account just the number of hosts.

[he sounds amazed and impressed, the nerd]

Dax has always been extraordinary so the Symbiosis Commission aims for hosts with high aspirations.
