Video

Who: Sokka, maybe some Maglor, and you!!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: The Iskaulit
When: Backdated a couple days ago - before the new planet mingle

[The feed opens up to one of the larger, empty rooms in the Iskaulit. There's a few boxes stacked around, but otherwise the room is starkly empty. Sokka grins, raising his arms in the middle of the room. In the background, Maglor seems to be moving stuff out of boxes.]

So, hey guys! Me and Maglor have decided it'd be a great idea to build a forge on the Iskaulit. So many people don't have a clue what they're doing with guns, we figured giving them a chance to have weapons more suited to their time period might help them out a little.

Plus, you know, Atroma can suck it with taking our weapons away from us. We'll just make new ones.

ANYhoo, it's obviously gonna be a while before it gets set up, but anyone willing to come help build it, or gather materials, that kind of thing would be really appreciated. We'll put your names on a little plaque or something. Hopefully, we'll get something awesome out of this.

[Honestly that's as far as his knowledge on forging goes, so that's a relief.]

Fire is still a concern, yes. I'm just a bit wary of creating such a risk in a space craft. Is there no other way to create, er-- 'old school' weaponry?

Not for proper steel - you need heat, and aforge is the best way to get the sorts of temperatures - and to control them! There are other materials one can use, of course - stone and bone and wood, but all three are in equally if not more scarce suppky, and not so strong as steel for blades. And there is at least one here who needs a forge for his own care.

I don't think the former three would be all that effective in space, either. Though, we did fight a giant turkey once....it's just a big bird, so I doubt those bones would have been useful for anything.

But, er. Wait, back up, who needs a forge of their own, and why??

[ A giant... turkey. RIGHT THEN MOVING ON ]

There is one here who is the spirit of a blade - if the blade breaks, he dies. So - a forge becomes increasingly vital.

[BEST LEFT UNSPOKEN]

That's. . .an extraordinarily specific and unfortunate circumstance, wow. I-I could understand the necessity in that case. And at that point, why not do more with it.

Mm. [ Maglor shrugs a little ]

Many of us are not familiar with guns, in any case. I miss steel in my hands, and I know I am not the only one.
