[There's a clanking sound, like someone rattling a stack of pots and pans. But for some, it's a recognizable sound of someone sprinting in full armor. It's a short-statured individual in blue and gold as he rushed into the frame from the bottom, where he'd done a number on a few of the robotic equipment that had been poking and prodding at him when he awoke.]

Shield Knight!

[The figure stopped, listened for a response. Upon hearing none, he moved quickly along the blank white walls, ignoring the equipment as his hands flit over the surfaces. He knocked, he listened, and perhaps sought where one portion would be weakest. Here is where he would lower his center and shoulder-ram the wall with all of his might. Rather than give way, the wall was more stalwart than he. He grunted his discomfort and tread back, taking a look around.]

Shield Knight! [Silence.]

Please... I cannot lose you again...

[He balled his fists and stood at the ready. Unarmed, but feisty.]

No. I must not falter. The Tower! Perhaps I am still in the Tower of Fate. But what knave takes a knight's weapon without a contest...?

[These monitors are so fascinating... windows to other worlds, he presumes, or at least other parts of the Tower. Perhaps he could make use of this himself once he figures out their function. Atroma... he would remember this.]

Where have they taken me? Is this the Tower of Fate?

You're in outer space, actually. All the stars you see in the sky at night? You're traveling among them now.

[Either some higher-ups have decided to toy with him or some hidden desire for confirmation was abound. When Shovel Knight turned his gaze away from the camera, other monitors only revealed darkness to him. Darkness, and a sea of stars that moved slowly past.]

I... some sort of airship? The Tower wasn't nearly that tall...

Yeah, an airship of sorts. Except it's more like a spaceship. There's a whole fleet of them, in fact. You'll be assigned to one in short order.

[Assigned!?]

Forgive my many questions, but to what end? What does this Atroma desire from us?

It's okay! Questions are natural when this kind of thing happens to you, and knowledge is power.

Entertainment, or so they tell us. Atroma claims there's an audience, watching us through screens like the one you're holding.

[He was being watched. Ooh. Welp. Yeeeah, about the medbay equipment...]

...Then they have seen the damage I've inflicted upon their machines, no doubt. I had no quarrel with them, but they tried to remove my armor.

Oh, I'm sure the audience found that entertaining. They might like a rebel.

If anyone from my homeland heard you compare me to a rebel they may die laughing.

But forgive my rudeness! I am Shovel Knight.

Hey, maybe you can reinvent yourself as one here. That could be your brand of audience appeal.

I'm Alphonse! Shovel Knight, huh? I've never heard of a knight who uses a shovel, but now that I think about it, it'd make a pretty good weapon.

[He laughed heartily, half out of the thought of himself in rebellious, black spiky armor and an eye patch.]

Shovelry is a lost art! It catches each of my foes by surprise. It makes treasure-hunting far simpler as well.

Ah, but I miss the little jingles of gold coins in my pockets...

Well, once you're assigned a ship, you may be able to hunt for treasure. This particular asteroid belt we're dwelling in has areas full of deposits of precious minerals.
