[Since arriving at the Fleet, Lumiére has tended towards just using the voice function to communicate with people outside of the Wonderduck. It makes his life considerably easier. He doesn't have to navigate the mine-field of questions that come with just looking at him. He can talk to people like a normal person, and it's great.

Today, though, he needs to actually address the problem of his general...him-ness, and as such, he'll switch the video on. He casts the screen a warm smile all the same, giving a little wave of a candle-hand.]

Bonjour, my fellow Fleet members. This is quite an interesting planet, no? I hear the concerts here are really something to experience. I might have to test out the waters myself. It has been a while since I got to enjoy one.

[It's not the kind of concert he's used to, but after a decade of no concerts at all, he'll sure as heck give this new kind a try.]

But! I had another reason for speaking to you today. I have heard there are several people in the Fleet who are experienced with magic. I was hoping I could speak to them, especially if they know anything about curses- because as you can see [he chuckles, gesturing to himself] I have something that might interest their magically inclined minds.

As promised. Here I am, settled on the Wonderduck and checking in. [Like three weeks too late but ya'll can't expect miracles. If you wanted good time-keeping, you should have befriended the clock]

[Otherwise, Lumiére can be found happily hopping around the table of the Wonderduck, carefully setting it so it at least looks like an actual, fancy dinner table and not a metal slab where people sit and eat. They may be in space, but they can still have a little culinary refinement, god.

Alas, it was nothing I did. The Prince I work for was...rather rude to someone who turned out to be an Enchantress. She cursed him, and by extension, his household. And so, here I am.

[There's always an enchantress. ALWAYS. Jack shakes his head. You can never be rude to them. EVER.] I suppose it could be worse. You could be a monkey. Or a household item everyone loathes! Like a washboard, or that thing you set the scullery sponge on to dry.

[Shudder.]

[Enchantresses are the actual worst. ]

A few of the other servants were turned into such things, the poor souls. Though...not monkeys. Thankfully.

[He laughs at that.]

Oh, if that were up to me, I would have broken the curse a long time ago. Unfortunately, it it not me that has to find love, bu the master I serve.

Wait wait wait....

[Jack is finally getting this.]

HIS curse has backfired on YOU, then. Unfair!

[It's SO unfair.]

That is right. The curse was placed on him and his Household- which I am a part of. And so, here I am, cursed.

Well bloody well get him married off, then!

[What kind of incompetent candle ARE you, Lumiere?!]

Oh, if only it were that easy. The Master is...not an easy man to get close to, and the curse made him- well, let me say we have all been trapped in our castle for a long time. But there is a girl now, things looks hopeful. We have been nudging things along.

[Also they kind of kidnapped her, but still.]

Sometimes things have to be booted along. Has she considered a false pregnancy?!

I do not think that would work, mon ami. They haven't even kissed, let alone anything else.

[In Lumiére's opinion if they'd just got right to the dirty everything would be fixed by now, but apparently that's not how the spell works :|]

Mrs. Potts tells me true love takes more time than a roll around in the hay anyway. Which is what we need from both parties. And so- we nudge.

What a picky sort of curse! They are, though, all of them. All curses. Letter of the law, curses!

Oi, though...I've had a thought. What if you served her a big great fancy meal, with all sorts of candles and silverware and such, and sang to her, and wooed her into thinking that this sort of high-class treatment is the wave of her future should she consider your unfortunate master?

It is somehow comforting to know mine isn't the only horribly specific one out there. Have you dealt with one your own, monsieur?

[Misery loves company and all that. Then, he sighs.]

I even got the dishes to dance for her.

You went full-future-fantasy too soon, perhaps. [Sigh.] My curse, as it was, ended before it truly began. Ended when Barbossa mutinied and marooned me on a bitty island. More fool, him! And then I shot him, you know. And now I've a new curse.

Perhaps I jumped the gun a little, but I am on a tight time limit. I couldn't sit around and wait for her to settle in on her own.

[That would have taken forever, and they absolutely did not have forever. ]

You...have bee cursed twice? I am sorry, mon ami. Once is bad enough.

[The second curse is more just Jack trying to get out of a contract but it still sort of counts.] Aye. And this new one will kill me if I ever drop my guard. But I don't intend to, lad! Have you ever seen an octopus?

Well...then I am glad you plan to avoid it.

[His curse is the opposite of that, of course. He can't die. Ever. ]

I have seen drawings of them. Why?

Because one is coming after me, and it wants to devour me piece by piece!

...And that is my curse, as it were. But it shan't have me!
