Yeah, well, in your time? It's not. But in 2016, twenty veterans kill themselves every day. There's more acknowledgment that people need help, that they need different training before they're shipped out, counseling afterwards. We try to learn from the mistakes of the past. It's not kids killing themselves when they come back, it's guys who were in Vietnam decades ago, because, like you and Steve, they don't seek out help. That's not what their generation does. That's not what your generation did.

[He hesitates for a moment, then adds:]

But it's what I did.

[Sam meets her eyes with a clear, steady gaze. It's not normally something he admits to people this early on in an acquaintance, but this is important.]
