[It wasn't like it was hard to figure out; Clay contacts Apollo often, just to talk about everything and nothing. And today, he tried to do it again, only to get an error. He knows what it means, yet he tries again, again and again, until it really sinks in.

He gives himself some time to scream into a pillow, you know, normal reaction to the knowledge that your best friend left, most likely for good, before picking up his comm again. Part of him thinks it'd be good to address via video, but he doesn't really trust himself to do it. After some debate, he decides to just text instead.]

dont get me wrong its a good thing!! he really didnt like it here

hes afraid of heights and u cant get any higher than space right

lol he was practically becoming a hermit with how much he stayed on his ship

[Ugh, that sucked. But... whatever. After the loss of some other friends of his, and now Apollo, that's about the best he's got to give for today.]

[ Hermione just watches for a moment before she drags her chair a little closer, settling down and reaching out to take one of Clay's hands in her own. ]

I know hearing that someone's sorry doesn't make it better, but I am. I wish it was easier.

[He lets out a sigh at that, a heavy one at that. No, it doesn't make him feel any better, but he does appreciate the gesture. He's pretty sure Hermione didn't know Apollo very well, if at all; Apollo never came to the ship unless it was grounded, and Clay would sometimes be the only one there at those times.]

Yeah... me too. I didn't... think it'd be this hard. I was fine without him... kind of. Before he got here.

[ Hermione understands as well as anyone the heartache of losing someone important to their home - there's a relief that's all mixed up with the sadness of not being able to say goodbye, of losing them, of a heavy heart, and she wonders how they're meant to cope with it all. It aches all the more, knowing that it's all done for drama and for television, for a show they'll never know is actually happening or not. ]

But you got used to him being here. I understand, you know. It... It does make sense. You get used to someone being there and it's agony when they're suddenly gone.

Mm... yeah. I didn't want him to be here any longer than he wanted to, but when he left... I was used to knowing he was close by. You're right.

[He lets out a sigh.] I don't think I'll see him again at this rate. So...

[At that thought, he goes ahead and downright chugs about half of the hot chocolate. It feels good and comforting, much better than the little pains in his chest and mouth and eyes over knowing he won't see Apollo again, barring the miracle of Apollo coming back here. And Clay wouldn't want that, just knowing Apollo couldn't get accustomed to this place.]

I think it's good that he's somewhere where he'll be happy. He'd probably enjoy that.

[ At the same time... Hermione shifts, pushing herself closer and wrapping an arm around him. It's easy enough for her to lean close and offer him comfort and support; she doesn't want him to be upset but she knows she can't make this pain go away. ]

It's okay to hurt for a little while. No one can blame you.
