Shipwide video
It looks like I took an unscheduled long nap. Definitely not normal for me.
[He glances away from the camera for a moment, and there's a hint of frown before he looks back]
So...what'd I miss?
Action
[Kaidan settles back into a routine soon - working out in the cargo hold, maintaining the gear in the armory, or spending time in the cockpit staring out at the stars. After all that sleep, though, he's feeling strangely restless. In addition to his usual tasks, he checks in on the rest of the crew from time to time, hovering respectfully just outside the door of their room or workspace.]
Hey. Is there...anything I can help with?
Video
[A long pause, before he sighed.] Quite ... a bit. Where would you like me to start?
Furiosa - anywhere
it's not a date, but when she's hanging about her own ship she's on her regular rounds; a daily sweep, tending the small collection of plants in her quarters, on the bridge making sure the systems are in check.][Overwall, she seems to be in a fairly decent mood. You might even see her smiling to herself.]
Action
Actually, there might be. [He holds up the device.] ...At home, I didn't really know much about codes and encryption. The augment gives me knowledge I didn't have, but I'd prefer not to rely on what isn't mine. I got this on one of the asteroids after- rather, shortly before we left. I think I've got most of the basic functions down, but I'd like to be able to encrypt the files on it in a different way than how the Fleet's network handles things. Think you might have any insight?

You might also run into him in the ship's hold, getting increasingly frustrated with the pinball machine there as the display flashes 'TILT' for the umpteenth time.]

How about the highlights, and we'll work up to the detailed debrief from there.
Encrypted - Locked Video
Well ... we went to a ball on a criminal's planet, stole some information about the Atroma, thought we got away scott free but they opened up the Marivisa's roof and a giant gun - Giant Gun appeared and destroyed the ship of people who were here to help us.
Encrypted - Locked Video
Alright. You weren't kidding about there being a lot.
[Where to even start, though]
So the Marsiva is armed after all. That's new information, at least as far as I know. How giant are we talking? Relative to the size of the Marsiva itself, if that helps.

I can take a look, if you like, but I have to be honest...I'm not sure I can help much. I've tried to hack into some of the systems I've found, but it's like trying to learn Braille with a hand tied behind your back.
Do you mind...[All that said, though, better not to say never until he tries, and he holds out a hand in an inquisitive fashion for Yuan to hand it to him if he likes]
Re: Encrypted - Locked Video
They like to keep us on our toes.
[A nod.]
Yes and ... I would say it was easily three quarters the length of the ship. It let off some kind of blast - I couldn't see what it was as there is no color in space.

He spends most of his time getting familiar with his lab, because science is something he already knows well, and his augment only really seems to enhance that. He is glad to have something productive to do on board, but it doesn't really take long for him to take issue with being cooped up, so eventually he will start to wander, taking the time to introduce himself to the rest of the crew and hopefully not interrupt anything important with:]
Hi, I'm Barry. Allen. I'm the new lab guy.
no subject
Good to have you aboard. [For multiple reasons, but they'll get to that eventually. With a small smile, Kaidan offers a hand]
Do you prefer Barry, or Allen?
no subject
[He makes a circling gesture in the air, though, realizing he's getting off topic]
Anyway...tell me about this information. How'd you know where to find it, and what did you find out?
no subject
[Tyrion stated, with a whimsical little smirk.]
We found it through our allies - you remember them? The people who have continued to reach out to us. They gave us information and people to inflitrate a party of a known Atroma collaborator. We found ... well. I have filled my journal with notes, you are welcome to read them.
no subject
It doesn't matter if it isn't much - I just thought it might be good to start learning to handle these things without implanted knowledge. [At least, that's the reasoning he's going to give while on the ship.]
no subject
Worried about Atroma reading your diary? [He says this with the most lightly joking tone ever because he knows exactly why Yuan would want to do such a thing. But, you know, Atroma is watching. Even now. Best play it casual]
no subject
So what about our friends? How bad was the damage?
no subject
[He is so happy you're back. Seriously. The more of them the merrier.]
...We don't know. [It is just that simple.] Vash and I went out to investigate but we are not sure if they got away or were blown to small pieces.
no subject
[He's a pretty good liar, when he has to be. This is a game he knows how to play - one that's almost comfortable, after spending a year only keeping secrets that no one was actually looking for.]
no subject
People can be nosy. [He frowns slightly, though the expression is directed at the device]
It's pretty basic, but you could easily fit a good encryption program on here. I have to admit, I'm used to having fingertip access to that of program. When you're hacking a door console in a firefight, there's only so much time you have to waste, you know. What I'm saying is, I'm not an expert, but I could cobble something together if I needed to. Except...[He shakes his head, frustrated]...I can't get more than a step into the core functions without running into a wall that just looks like gibberish to me. Maybe if I had time...well, maybe I do...but that won't help you.
no subject
[He's not willing to shrug it off that easily, however]
no subject
[A long sigh.]
Vash has hope they escaped.

[He gives the camera a somewhat rueful frown]
But even the most powerful forward cannon I've heard of leaves some kind of trace. I don't want to be too hopeful but...I might be with your friend on this one. If they were destroyed, there would be debris. A lot of debris.
no subject
[He rubbed his beard thoughtfully.]
I would trust those who travel in space over myself in this -- as I have no idea what this space debris would even look like.
no subject
Depends on what it was before it was debris. But really...you need a good scanning array to know for sure. A computer or VI could probably pick up even the smallest trace elements and give you a basic picture. Though, I never thought I'd say this, but I miss working with an AI when it comes to that kind of thing.
no subject
[He raises his left forearm and the translucent orange hologram of his omni-tool springs to life around it]
However long that takes...
no subject
... could we build one of those? I mean, we have one. But it's broken.
no subject
[He reaches forward to shake Kaidan's hand.]
For some reason, the last name thing never really caught up, other than at work, but I work with cops, so.
[Last names are kind of their default.]
no subject
I know a little of what that's like. What do you do for the police?
no subject
Well, I couldn't help you out with that. You need a good AI tech for that kind of thing, and it's no small job. But if we had one in the fleet...
no subject
Now that is something I will have to figure out on my own.

I appreciate that. But I'm also pretty good at taking care of myself too.
