Quite a few of us have lost friends recently, even people we've considered family. Stefan Salvatore was one of those people. Some of you might know him as the familiar face of the Interfaith Center, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand for those in need.

He left the Center to Mikleo and I, and we'd like to carry on the tradition. I'm not as knowledgeable about religions as he is, but I'd like to help if there's anybody who'd like to use the Center to practice. If you don't have a faith, that's totally fine too; think of it more like a place where you can have some peace and quiet for your thoughts.

Oh yeah, and if you take your tea a certain way, please let me know. I'll do my best to have some ready when you come.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. [The way Sorey speaks about the person, it's clear they were close.] He sounds like a wonderful person.

I would like to visit the Centre, if that's all right. I hadn't known there was a place for prayer in the Fleet.

[She hasn't prayed much of late. Lingering bitterness over her years and years of dedication had left prayer far from her mind. It would be worth offering her thanks to the goddess once more, in a place reserved for such things.]

Oh hey, [that nice girl he explored with! Yeah, she'd definitely pinged him as some type of holy, her resonance was way too strong for anything else.] Of course you can come by. It's not really advertised so it's easy to miss, but it's pretty cozy here.

It's one of the spaces on the larger ship, isn't it? The Iskaulit. If there's a suitable time for me to visit, please let me know.

Anytime is fine! I'm going to try and be here as much as possible, but even if I'm not please feel free to let yourself in and help yourself to anything in the kitchen.

Is there anything you'd like for accommodations for prayer? An altar or a shrine of some sort?

[She thinks of the ancient goddess statues, so worn with age that their features were soft and blurry. After a moment she shakes her head.]

No, that won't be necessary. I can make do with just a quiet space. Thank you, though. It must be complicated, managing a space for so many different kinds of observance.

I know; Stefan made it look easy.

I think he only just asked that everybody respect everybody else's space. Like, covering your altar when you're not using it, not touching anybody else's stuff, things like that.

He used to hold Islamic services too, but I'm not sure how to do that and I don't want to be disrespectful by offering prayers for a faith I don't practice, so. [That's one thing he's really disappointed by, but there's nothing to be done about it. He kind of wishes he'd recorded Stefan praying now; it had been soothing.]

That's quite reasonable, I think. I'm not familiar with that faith, so I can understand not being well versed enough to offer the same service. As long as the space is provided, that should be helpful to anyone who needs it.

That was my thought too. It's not as if the Center's hurting for space either, so it doesn't cause any problems to just leave everything up and available. Accessibility is the most important thing.

It's incredible, really... having dedicated spaces like this, in a travelling ship. It's more like venturing into a nearby village.

It really is cool, isn't it! It's a great study in the evolution of society too; what a community will do with empty spaces, what kind of things are seen as necessary for a settlement to thrive. I really like seeing how it applies here and religion is a big part of that.

A person's beliefs are difficult to divorce from how and where they live. Even in so strange a world, you take your beliefs with you.

Are you a very spiritual person, Zelda? [Sorey never was- and isn't even sure if he'd classify himself as such now, either.]

[She pauses, because it's a question she's never really asked herself. The goddess and the spirits of Hyrule thread through everything. Her powers, too, are intensely spiritual. And yet she remembers those long years of struggle, reaching out to the gods in desperation and hearing nothing but deafening silence. She hadn't felt very spiritual then... as though she was a fraud, pretending her devotion because that was the expectation. The deep fear that the goddess had looked within her and found her lacking.

She clears her throat finally.]

In my own way, yes. I honour the spirits and the goddess. ...I thank them for what they have given us.

That's cool. [Sorey's been learning his own way to be spiritual, beyond the normal conventions. Hearing that Zelda's also doing things in her own way is surprisingly heartening.] That's something people do back home, too. Exercising gratitude for blessings and stuff like that.

I'd like to hear more about it, sometime.

Sure! I'd be happy to share some stories when you come by. And you can tell me more about your practices then, too!

Sorry, it's vanilla. Mikleo hasn't found a chocolate he can use that doesn't taste weird.

[Sorey's in the kitchen when Opal arrives, dishing out two small bowls of the ice cream Mikleo had made just that morning. It's not as good as the stuff he makes from fresh milk, but it's still a hell of a lot better than the crap those machines in the kitchen spit out. They even have some fruit and stuff they can add to it!] Opal? Is that you?

Nope, it's a mysterious stranger you've never met before.

[Of course, her voice betrays her, even if her appearance wouldn't have. She makes her way into the kitchen with a small wave.]

Hey.

[Ah, yeah... he'd been sort of avoiding an announcement or anything, but with him being such a public figure at the center, people must have noticed.]

I'm not religious or anything, but he was having issues on and off with the lighting in there. If you run into trouble with it, let me know.

He kept the Paisley stocked with extra tea, too, so I'll bring some over.

[Oh, had they been close? Kirito is always so private, Sorey barely knows anything about the guy. And Stefan always spent all his time doting on Sorey that he didn't learn much about what else he did in the Fleet.]

Did you visit him a lot at the Center, or...?

Not a lot, really. Just when something needed to be fixed, or when there was that potluck... but Stefan was on the Paisley when I got transferred over, so he was one of the first people I met here almost two years ago. He was... a friend.

[Putting it very lightly. It's not like they had any fancy brotherly name for each other, but aside from Asuna now that she's here, Stefan was probably the one he'd gotten closest to in the fleet. Having him gone so suddenly is harder than he can admit.]

Mm. [Sorey wants to apologize, but there's nothing really to apologize for. He's sorry that Kirito is also hurting, but just saying he's sorry won't change that.] He's a really kind person. He'd drop everything just to make sure the people he cared about would be okay, even if it meant he'd be in danger.

...Yep.

[He'll get no argument from Kirito. Stefan's been a good guy, right from the start.]

Anyway, I know he trusted you, so the center's in good hands at least.

[Yeah, he was always so attentive. Sometimes even to extremes.]

I'll take good care of it, I promise. And I'll let you know if I notice anything weird with the lights.

[Is it weird to be thanking someone when he's offering to help? Well, whatever, he's doing it. For Stefan's sake, he's grateful.]
