Calibration Post 1, "Daytime"
[ Not long after the shuffle, there's a ripple of static over the network - loud, sudden, and seemingly with no origin. It's puzzling, but there's no indication that it's going to happen again...
Until a minute later. Another surge of static comes in over the speakers, and then a voice - one some may find familiar, though not necessarily welcome, after all of this time... It's Diamond. Long time no speak, hmm?
Clearly, not all is well. She sounds very far away, for one. For another, she sounds... skeptical, almost alarmed. There may actually be real concern in her voice. ]
Again? Twice in one c--
[ Her sentence is cut short with a strangled gasp, followed by a moment of silence. What follows may be the sound of metal dragged across metal, but it's hard to place. When she speaks again, it's uncharacteristically monotonous. ]
... Bring them in.
[ A blip of lost time passes right after those words, before every passenger mysteriously wakes alone in their own unfamiliar room. The style of decor resembles that of the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck, if any passengers should remember what that's like. It sounds and smells the same as the host ship as well, all clean and chrome, but this set of rooms has only been used once, and for the very same purpose that befalls the fleet contestants now.
As for their hosts, there is no immediate sign of them, though some may recall a series of hideous, half-electronic screams before their memories begin to blur upon arrival...
Welcome back to the Marsiva, dear passengers. It's time for round two of calibrations. ]
[ This mingle will cover all non-calibration room interactions. Please continue to come back to it for the duration of the plot! You are, of course, free to post any other mingles/posts/etc. that you'd like. ]

for rip | closed
However, this particular instance, the speedster's eyes are a bit unfocused, as though he's noticing something over Rip's shoulder for the first time, and he can't quite put his finger on what it is.]
Have you seen that door before?
no subject
But this time, when Barry draws his notice elsewhere, Rip seems able to let some of that annoyance slide. He's at least somewhat aware the man doesn't deserve it anyway, but--
That is a rather curious discovery, isn't it?]
No, as a matter of fact. [Which means that something must have changed for them to both see it now. Rip changes direction; whatever he'd been doing can absolutely wait, and he walks towards the door with quick strides.]
no subject
Do doors normally just appear here out of nowhere?
no subject
Let's assume they don't for the time being.
[And in turn, not assume that the door is the element that has changed. Rip walks up to it, straight away seeing the touchpad on the frame. So much like the Waverider, and he taps it with his fingers.
Level five access granted.]
How delightful. [Said with a soft sigh that makes it clear Rip considers this anything but. Really, a mysterious door suddenly appearing, leading who only knows where, and them without any proper weapons. Not Rip's typical idea of a fun time to be sure.
But they can't just ignore it. He looks back to Barry then, nodding with his head towards the now open entry.] Shall we?
no subject
He hopes.
So he'll nod and let Rip take the lead.]
After you.
no subject
Rip steps into the room with no further hesitation. It's not immediately familiar, and Rip frowns as he looks at the signs of disarray.]
Seems as if it's fallen out of use. [Though he speaks less to Barry and more to himself as he makes the observation, Rip remains aware of Barry's presence. It's fortunate, actually; while the man beside him now is quite a bit younger than the Barry Allen Rip has come to know, he's from a point in time where he's still quite capable. He'd much rather have the second set of eyes about when it comes to exploring this discovery.]
It looks like—we've stumbled upon a lab. [He approaches one of the counters, taking note of the empty clipboard next to a rack of equally lacking vials. How unfortunate.]

[It's only slightly sarcastic as he makes his way over to the areas where people would stash information, pulling open drawers and looking over the shelves.]
If the researcher was the one who cleared it out, they probably took their main notes with them, but maybe there'll be a back up copy of some kind.
no subject
[Only slightly sarcastic indeed. Like Barry, Rip begins to search for any information that might have been left behind--but mention of a back-up copy does give Rip pause. Given that they are actively having their memories invaded each night, not to mention the implications of the very title of the process, he's not keen on the idea of merely trusting the Atroma to let this discovery stand.
After all, there's no indication that he and Barry had been meant to find this place. It's a door that hadn't been there before, or noteworthy, suddenly revealing the ruins of an abandoned lab.]
Mr. Allen; if you would be so kind as to do me a favor. [One that won't take long at all, given the man's abilities.] In the room with my name on the door, among other things, you'll find a small notebook and pen. Would you mind fetching it for me?
no subject
Right. Yeah, of course.
[And away he goes, leaving a gust of wind behind him. He doesn't know if the door will stay there long, okay? Speed is necessary here. And mere seconds later he returns, and lets himself back in using his augment, but there's a small look of confusion on his face.]
What level of access did it give you when you opened the door? Five, right?
no subject
Even with his experience dealing with speedsters, Rip still finds himself momentarily taken aback as Barry comes and goes in under a minute. The speed had been precisely why Rip had asked him rather than going himself, yet it's still quite the power to behold.]
Thank you. [Rip holds his hand out for the book, but frowns when Barry questions the voice they'd heard before.] Five, yes. Why?
no subject
[He paused for a moment before giving a glance back at the door as he hands off the notebook.]
When I opened it, they said it was level four.
