Takeshi will address the crew promptly when they return to the ship — it's up to him as captain to make sure everyone knows what's going on, right? So with a subdued tone, he says over the loudspeakers: "Captain, um, Takeshi here. Miss Opal and Miss Maggie have gone home... I know we're gonna miss them a lot, but let's hope they've got really nice people to go home to... Friends and families and things they had to do. Umm... Take care of each other, and remember that some of us don't seem t'stay still for long, so be nice and remind them how much you care 'bout them, just in case, okay...?"

A pause.

"They wouldn't want us to stay too sad, so... keep your chins up and let's do good things moving forward, so they'll be real proud of us."

[Felix glances off screen for a moment, and it's debatable as to whom might be more uncomfortable with this revelation]

Yes...well...[He pauses again, fidgeting with unseen hands] I hope I didn't frighten you by losing my temper...

[Meaning, of course, that's he's sorry if he did, without actually utterly the word. The fact of the matter was that he'd had no chance of standing idly by, dream or no, and letting the suffer so cruelly as he once had.]

[Takeshi shakes his head.]

... It's okay. When I was that small... I was scared of everything.

[It was important to be afraid. It was how to get by.

Until it didn't work, one day.]

I'm sure many people are at such an age... [A beat, as he has to concede that perhaps many people had safe, loving childhoods that contained nothing more than mundane nightmares...but he isn't sure he knows any of those people]

...some more than others. [His eyes flicker away from Takeshi's face again for a moment, and he clears his throat]

[He nods, solemn.]

Was it like that for you, too?

[This time his eyes move down and stay there, fixed on his hands, and his lips press together tightly. But...he nods.

Then, as if they hadn't been having a rather personal conversation, Felix clears his throat and looks back up. Inwardly, he's fighting back a swirl of panic because he'd really really rather this conversation, should it go any further, not continue on the network.]

I have been meaning to ask...[He says this far too quickly to be anything than an evasion]...ah...what sort of books do you like? It's been pointed out to me that the library could use more material for the younger people in the fleet. Perhaps you'd like to come and discuss it with me?

[This is maybe Too Subtle a leading phrase for Takeshi to grasp, but it's worth trying. Takeshi seems bright enough that it might yield results.]

... I'd like that, sure! I like books.

[If Takeshi's mature enough to perhaps recognize the change, the desire to move along —
