Action/Open

Who: Furiosa and You?
Broadcast: n/a
Action: First Breath
When: Today throughout July

[Someone's back from her coma. It might be hard to tell, because she immediately disappears into her quarters (not hanging around on the bridge, as usual, or working on the battered shuttle).

One other indication that she's back; she quietly delivers her gift basket - unopened - to the galley. It's yours for the taking. Among the usual items, it also includes candied grubs, a scarf and goggles, and a little toy car. Either she didn't want these items, or more likely she didn't bother to open it in the first place.

If you want to check you'll have to ask her yourself, which might be easier said than done; after the calibrations themselves, and post-coma grogginess and fatigue, she's not going to make herself available as much as she usually does. You still might be able to catch her when she has to make a trip to the galley, as necessity dictates, or if there are any captain duties that require her attention on the bridge.]

[He pauses for a moment, before placing the pot down and ... suddenly disappearing in a burst of wind and a crackle of red and gold lightning. Mere seconds later he returns, box of doughnuts in his hands that he may have gotten from the Iskaulit. Sometimes it's good to have high calorie food on hand.]

Doughnut?

[He nods as he places the doughnuts on the counter.]

Usually my thing is to restrain and evade, but throwing a punch at super speed can be very effective and if I have enough room to go fast enough I can also throw lightning.

[ARE YOU READY FOR SOME SCIENCE? Preceded by a dumb question, because this is Barry.]

Have you ever stood on a carpeted floor wearing socks and rubbed them back and forth for a bit before reaching over to shock someone?

[He asks like it's an obvious thing that everyone has done because he is a nerd.]

[He should have put that together. Know your audience, Allen. But all the same that doesn't seem to phase him so he just moves on into the explanation itself.]

Well, when you do that, the friction between your feet and the carpet creates something called static electricity, so called because the charge itself is stationary and doesn't really go very far. In terms of electricity, the space from your feet to your arm is minimal. But when I run, I'm moving so fast and am generating so much friction, that the charges are a lot bigger so I can essentially throw them across longer distances.

[A beat.]

It'd be easier to show you if I had the space to demonstrate, but if I tried to do it here ... it wouldn't be a good idea.

[He shakes his head.]

Not really, no. I'm this way because of a freak accident.

[He's been living with it for a while. And you gotta admit, it's still really cool.]

You gotta do what you can with the cards you're given. And if this means I get to help people, then I'd rather help them than do nothing. There were a lot of metas that didn't have the same chance.

Sorry, metahumans. That's what we call humans with abilities where I'm from.

[Because mutants was taken.]

[He shakes his head.]

Not that common. But they're powerful enough to make an impression.

[And that makes him smile. He does like fitting in.]

Good! I definitely want to pull my own weight, you know?

Good.

[And he glances back to the pot he abandoned in the process of showing off.]

Anyway. I should probably let you get back to it.
