[With his arms stretched wide, Oren is now taking in the view of the Marsiva's large windows.]

Well, I should count myself blessed to witness this with my own eyes! [He laughs, and it sounds joyous, if short. Turning in place, his hands fall back to his sides, and he's flashing a grin around the area. Night. Night, this was definitely night... And there were others here, he'd just not run into them. So what does he do?]

Have I missed the celebrations? The dancing? [Finally, he stops stepping backwards and turns to face the window yet again. Expansive and dark, but as captivating as it was-- what did this mean for Nocta?]

Night falls, and all it's met with is quiet? Tell me, have you all been stunned to silence, or am I left here alone with this view?

Mm. No. [His face scrunches. He shakes his head.] No. I don't think that fits. Feels a bit too... wholesome.

[He smiles back but it's uncertain. Confused as to how to take the initial comment.]

Yes, there are... [He clears his throat, ducking his head.] Our home is somewhat unique here. It seems night and day are peaceful in other worlds. Although-[a tinge of excitement]-I did hear a tale of a world in eternal night.

Eternal? [His own voice sounds intrigued, but somehow he makes it so much more stable.] I'd liked to have seen your face at that! Just how did that work? Was it peaceful?

[He laughs timidly, the smile not reaching his eyes.] You see my face enough, no doubt.

But... no. I heard it was a time of war. A parallel to our own time, perhaps. [It seems like a warning now.] It sounded as something from a child's tale. Monsters roaming, stuff of that sort. Preposterous by our own standards but... [He shrugs.] To be frank, we are surrounded by preposterous people here.

So you’ve met more than a few? [He looks amused at that, bringing a hand to his face so he can drum fingers against his cheek.] Do monsters not roam our world already?

It’s not so preposterous from the middle of it, I suppose. [Except how it really is, but he’s trying not to deal with excessive emotions right now.]

You've such interest in who I've met. I might think you're getting protective. [Would he mind if he did? The answer eludes him, clouded by the prospect of a twisted motive.]

Really, though, are we to start quoting at each other again? If we’re on Tanghi, I feel he has a few more apt quotes later on.

[Something in his gut twists. He lets the subject drop with a faltering smile.]

[Like it's something to be embarrassed about.] I think not. You'd have me bother with teaching so soon after my arrival?

I suppose it is a bit of an unfair demand. [A beat, then he smirks a bit mischievously! Whoa, there.] Or a cowardly retreat.

Drawing back from the camera, he covers his mouth, eyes wide.] I—That wasn't— [Not that it's a necessarily bad idea. What? No. No, definitely not thinking about that.] —It was a joke. I didn't mean... That is not the type of discipline I enjoy.

[shit. that's—] —Not that I enjoy any discipline but if I did, it... it wouldn't be that!

[No, that's not right either. He slumps in his seat, dragging a hand down his face.] Oh, goddess.

[Ah, yes, he's watching this whole thing, eventually moving to lean against a wall nearby with a laugh that persists until he's tired of it. (Which is long enough.)]

[Ignoring the offense, he listens to the answer. All that he comes up with at first is a thoughtful hum. Sealed off. There were others, at least a few, but not enough. He crosses his arms just to drum fingers of one hand against his other forearm.]

What a shame. But from what I hear they'll release me at some point. We won't be so unfortunate for quite long.

"We"? [He's divided, part of him exuberant while the other dreads. Worries just what purpose Oren still has with a goddess-less messiah.] I hadn't realized I was such a priority.

No, no one else. [The mere thought makes him chuckle.] Probably for the best. I doubt Ahl would take kindly to being kidnapped. [A beat. Had he misstepped?] I assume you were asking about her. We only share so many acquaintances.

[The smile fades, and while it looks rather natural, it's no coincidence that it's lined up with mentioning of Ahl. But well, that was who he was asking about, after all.]

Only so many acquaintances indeed. [Acquaintance, that's a good way of putting it. Maybe even a little mild.] You're not wrong, in this case at least! If she were here, I'm certain there wouldn't be a one who was not aware.

[He would've chosen the word friend, but he knows of their relationship. Try as they might to hide it from him, their mutterings were telling enough. The looks they gave each other in passing. He's treading on unsteady ground.
