Testing, testing... okay, we'll pretend this works. It's kinda different from standard issue ShinRa PHS, but it doesn't look that complicated...

It's a deep space exploration and defense organization. We're focused on exploration but not everyone we meet is always peaceful.

Kind of. There are a lot of differences but traveling through space, that's far from new.

I've seen plenty of humans and my ex-husband, he's here. He's a Klingon.

Oh, yeah. I'm a Trill humanoid, I was born on Sappora Seven. [She brushes her hair aside a bit and tilts her head to show her neck, and the dark spots.]

Usually how you can tell my race apart from humans.

Nope, all Trills have spots. There are some of us that don't but you don't see it as often these days.

Who're the intense ones? The Klingons?

Worf is the only Klingon here but he'd be one of them. They're a warrior race. Of course, you might not find him so intense as others might.

Probably! I am a bit of a warrior type, myself.

[Though besides the muscles it might not show much. Certainly not through his attitude.]

Anyway, I'm used to serious, intense people. Armies kind of attract them by nature.

[She only kind of believes him.] You seem a bit... bright for that. Although, I guess more serious people need someone like that.

Hah, you're not the first person to say that! I got some weird looks from all different ranks on my way up. But I think you need all kinds of people no matter what the job is.

I agree, actually. Having the same types of people would probably cause some in-fighting or at least more than healthy competition.

You get healthy and unhealthy competition in army-types no matter what their personality types. It's the nature of the job- just about everybody is there to prove something to someone.

[She laughs softly.]

I suppose you do. I'm glad I never properly joined the army. [Even if she's been in wars before.]

Eh, it's not for everybody. Was kinda my go-to since my hometown prospects were kinda garbage.

Most of the time, sure. I think it suited me better than most work.

What, for other jobs? Man, I dunno. I guess I could've been a farmer, or a shopkeep- those were my prospects back home. Or some kinda engineer for the reactors. They ended up making me an engineer here, after all.

I guess I'm decent enough at lots of things, so I could do whatever I wanted for a job if I put my mind to it. But combat's where my real talent is. I'm too restless to do the same thing day in, day out.
