[Anyone on the Marsiva can find a short fussy elf if they'd like. He spends most of his time in the kitchen trying to figure out what weird-ass ingredients he's supposed to cook with, but he can also be found just... staring outside the window.]

[This is not Belthazar's first rodeo. He's not going to sit here and play with the console for your entertainment. He figures it out in about two seconds, being familiar with comm devices already, and he is furious. The look he gives and his tone are ice cold. That combined with the glowing green eyes is a pretty freaky effect, but he looks and sounds fairly young.]

Is this some kind of game, Initiative? I am DONE. Do you understand? This is unacceptable. I did not ask to be removed from my property, and my books-- [oh, he is so angry about his books]-- and I have studies I must attend to. My arcane research is infinitely more important than your misguided sloppy war or your failed attempts at entertainment, which I assume this is supposed to be.

[He leans back, looking about as severe as a fifteen year old can look.]

Healer. [He huffs, but doesn't fight him on it. It's all the same to him.]

Wait-- what? Where have they gone?

What. Just like that? I must have missed something.

About six- seven months, yeah.

[His eyebrows lower. He doesn't remember... maybe he got sent home? But he doesn't remember that, either. There's just-- half a year missing. Not long to an elf, but he is still growing and... he has to know. He has to know what happened.]

How did the war end?

We won.

United Earth's history and that Earth's rebuilding a new future. We were all sent our own ways.

[Though beyond that, he rather avoid sharing details since man. Not his favorite subject by a lot.]

[Such a thought is incredibly alien to him. He's only known the losing side. And when he last checked, people were dying of the plague, not winning a war. But he bows his head, accepting this (or trying).

He runs a hand through his hair.]

Except us, it seems. But this is something different.

Yes. We won. [There's no happiness in his tone, or pride. If anything, his voice sounds a bit on the hollow, distant, side. The price had been far too high. But...he's not really interested in going into that]

Yeah, well- we got grabbed by someone else. Bad luck, I suppose.

Bright side, there's no war with these guys.

[Belth doesn't push. He knows that sound. Hell, it sounds like him most of the time. He's... learning to pay attention.]

No war, and no rain. Though, I'll reserve judgment until I see the state of... everything else.

Heh. Fair enough.

[Belthazar pauses, fidgeting a moment.]

[... He needs to learn to talk to people again.]

... You healed my arm well. It doesn't hurt anymore.

...Well, that's good to hear. I like knowing I did something right.

Though I'm not working at a clinic anymore. Just a mercenary now.

If there is no war, there is less need for healers. [A pause.] And I do not expect to fling myself off any cliffs anytime soon.

Mercenaries make very good money. It is dangerous, but perhaps less so here.

That's...good? [Goodness child] Just checking- is cliff flinging a normal thing to you? Because among humans, it usually means suicide.

[Sure with angels it just means a shortcut but no need to mention that ever]

[He snorts] Less so here than being a healer in Exsilium, honestly. No one's tried to bomb where I am and I'm actually allowed to be armed.

[Yeah let's not.

The light scolding makes his ears lower and he turns a little red, mostly on his cheeks and nose.] It was a spell! I was trying to shield myself, then twist the spell so I could float. It didn't work.

[He huffs a bit.]

So you like killing more. How did you end up working in the clinic in the first place?

[He sighs and rubs his face] Right. Well, next time you decide to try that spell- you should probably have cushions at the bottom of whatever smaller height you jump off.

[Honestly Belth. And that earns a scowl]

Hey, I don't like killing more, that'd be twisted. And I ended up in the clinic because I needed a job. [And...had a lot of free time] Not a lot of mercenary work to be had when the only people with any money are the guys who kidnapped you to do odd jobs for them anyway.

[Belth prickles in return.] I learned that, thank you very much.

[Kaneis' answer is interesting, though.]

It is twisted in a way, but practical. Most adventurers will do anything for money. It's fairly common on my world. [He shrugs.] But you have a point. Aside from the required training and the occasional mission, I had a lot of time to read and research.

[A soft sigh.]

The human prince had a lot of books... and now they are gone.

[He makes a slight sound of disapproval] Practical at times, sure. Sometimes even necessary. But better to avoid it if you can. [If anything, his time in Exsilium has done nothing but sour his desire to kill] It's one thing to enjoy a good fight, that's all well and good, but someone who takes pleasure in the actual killing part of it? Well, that's a kind of person to stay clear of.

[Aw poor kid]

Someone opened up a library on one of the ships. It's not as big as the Initiative library- but there's stuff to read.

[Belth is quiet for a moment. He really doesn't want to like Kaneis (nothing personal, he just hates people) but then he says stuff like this. It's hard to hate people he agrees with.] ... If I never have to kill someone again, it will be too soon.

[Ugh. But then Kaneis mentions a library and his ears stick STRAIGHT UP.]

A library!? Where? How do I get there?

[Damn right you deal with TOLERANCE.] Yeah...let's hope it doesn't come to that here.

[He's not entirely sure. It's been peaceful here so far. But. Who knows with crazy people]

It's on the Bishop. You're on the mothership now, but once you get assigned somewhere, you can probably take a shuttle over to visit. Krista runs it.

[WHO KNOWS WITH CRAZY PEOPLE. He's... sort of half expecting it honestly, so all he can do is just prepare. If he's calm he can toss spells and defend himself just fine. But of course, being calm is the problem.

But now he's distracted by BOOKS.]

Krista. I will remember that. [And now he starts talking too fast, words tumbling over each other in excitement.] Have-- have you seen it? What kind of books are in it? Are there epics and classics? Textbooks? Stories in other languages?

[He makes an amused sound]

It's mostly a collection of what people in the fleet have donated. Interesting books that people found on various worlds. All sorts of genres.

But it's still growing. If you wanna help out, I'm sure Krista would love help or more donations.
