Meet me at the altar in your white dress
Who: Everyone
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Kayanni System, the city
When: NOW
There is a wedding on the planet. You may know this because you were invited to this wedding by this little guy and it's a lovely ceremony! You can watch the couple get married, wether you know them or not, the whole fleet was invited.Even if they don't know you either.
Noctis was in all black and he was beside himself, the time had finally come and after seeing his beautiful bride he couldn't look away. The music was soft yet appropriate. Luna was beaming, holding onto Shiro's arm down the aisle until they were together and holding hands. The vows went on as if in another room. Noctis couldn't quite focus on them, he was fighting getting sucked into Luna's orbit and just kissing her prematurely. Distantly he heard his cue to repeat after the offician and he recited his vows word for word. Umbra had their rings ready for them. When he put Luna's on her finger he felt a tear spill down his cheek. He couldn't stop smiling. The officiant led Luna then and Noctis hung on every word. Her voice was melodic and soft. Then he had a ring on his finger and he felt himself crying again. He just looked at her, he officiant left them through the end, announcing it was over, they were married.
Noctis didn't wait for any cue, he pulled Luna in close and dipped her as they kissed.
SO Have at the reception everybody!
There is a: Dance floor with music booming, a buffet with delicious food and CAKE, There is BOOZE of all types and it's just flowing with no signs of stopping, and sparklers! Also dancing with the bride..... or getting a photo with the couple!

[The outfit is, strictly speaking, a work uniform, but he wears it all the same. Beats the hell out of the uniforms up on the ship, anyway...]
A carrot cake donut? That I might have to go back and find.
[He lights another sparkler, holding it up to admire the light it gives off.]
This is the first I have ever seen of the bride and groom today. Someone ought to be happy in the middle of this mess. It may as well be a young couple.

[He can't argue with that, the onesies on the ship... he never gave them a chance. No way, he launders his own clothes and the new ones he's bought on the planet. Never the jumpsuits. No.]
Oh, it was really moist too and the icing was amazing. I am trying not to go back myself.
[He eyes the sparkler too.]
Yeah, the groom seems nice enough, I haven't really spoken to him. I mean, if he's marrying Lunafreya, I guess he has to be at least sort of alright. And you're right, someone should be happy now...
[He looks at the city and plays with his ring a bit.]

Better to have the memory and let others enjoy the flavor as well. There are enough we may well have plenty left once everyone gets their fill.
[He waves it a little bit, trying to see if he can leave a light trail if he moves the sparkler fast enough. The fiddling with the ring does get his attention, though.]
A single gold band... Not yet married, but the intention is clear. [A pause.] You do not have to tell me about them if it pains you.

Oh, yeah maybe there will be leftovers but I better not. I'm not good around food or with too much alcohol. [he has a tendency to take off his clothes and dance like a professional pole dancer.
He waves his sparkler around too.]
I wonder if we could convince the newlyweds to take a long exposure photo and run around with sparklers?
Oh! It's not painful. My fiance is here in the fleet. His name is Victor... you may hace seen him around. He's taller than me, silver hair even though he's young. He's a figure skater like me. We... met that way.

I try not to overdo either of them myself. Alcohol especially brings out the best and worst in people.
[He looks at the pile of sparklers he collected.] Could be worth a try. Photography like that tends to have a kind of...ethereal quality, if that is the right word.
[A man with a male fiance. Mantis had gotten used to various types of government propaganda and the changing tides of human sentiment to various ways of living. Plus, if someone like Volgin had a pet lover in the 60's, being completely judgmental is as futile as it is exhausting. He shrugs at the information, but does tilt his head slightly to one side.]
An international romance. I remember your last name being Japanese. [He can appreciate that kind of thing.] You yourself don't carry much of an air that would broadcast "figure skater". It must be difficult keeping in practice stuck aboard spaceships.

I am a pretty happy drunk, I dance a lot... and challenge people to join me. Do you dance at all? [He wondered about Mantis... he wondered what kind of life he led.]
Oh, I've seen plenty of photos like that with the newlyweds in the middle and it's a long exposure and people run through the frame with the sparklers. They are gone so fast the camera doesn't pick them up but it does pick up the sparklers and it looks like the couple is surrounded by fairy dust...
And... yes, international and same-sex. You can say it, Mantis. Victor is Russian.
Ah, what? Oh, I guess I don't look like a skater. Victor does though... it's tough to stay in shape, you're right. I work out on the treadmill but what I wouldn't give for some ice to skate on.
no subject
He shakes his head at the question.] Two left feet, I think is how the phrase goes.
That simple? I never paid much mind to photography, but I can get an idea of how it works. If you extend that to film, one might be able to get a similar look, but with everything in motion.
[He laughs a little at Yuri's explanation.] As often as I have traveled, it is hard to tell what the proper term for some things are anymore. You speak kindly of him, even with as little as I have learned about Victor.
I used to live in Russia for a while, but it was not a place I wanted to stay. Politics were changing quickly then, and I ended up in the United States. [He sets his now used up sparkler aside, quickly lighting a new one.] You have a treadmill on your ship? At least you can keep your heart in top condition.
no subject
Oh, that's not a problem. Anybody can learn to dance, I can teach you if you like.
And maybe... but in film you'd see the people running around the couple wouldn't you? In the photo it just looks like fairy dust and it's kind of magical... [He sighs imagining something... or someone.]
Well, of course, I speak kindly of him I... I love him. [And that... is the first time he's said it. The first time he's ever said it to anyone else. He should have said it to Victor.] We're getting married, it would be awful if I felt badly about him.
Oh, you lived in Russia? Where at? I just moved with Victor to St. Petersburg. It's very different from Hasetsu, Japan where I am from... not that I expected it to be the exact same! And yeah, running gets boring though. I try to run on the Iskaulit, that's better than the treadmill. Real running is better.

[He leans in slightly, amused by how wistful Yuri is. Victor is such a prominent thing in his expressions of happiness.] A matter of aesthetic, if I'm getting the word right.
Well, when you two decide to have your own ceremony, I will hopefully have better clothes to wear to it. [There are far more sappy things to attend than a wedding of someone so shamelessly in love. Mantis is even smiling a bit.] Perhaps a white tuxedo, to match the tradition of the white dress?
Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other cities. I traveled around a lot doing military work. [He perks up at the mention of Japan.] I wish I had visited Japan. Technological innovation seems to be one of their best exports. Although, these ships are years ahead of anything humans have accomplished.
no subject
You need a hobby or several to get through the days here. I am lucky I have Victor to keep me going, I don't know what I would do without him.
Hm? [He looks over then laughs in a lighthearted tone.] If you were worried about a suit I could have helped you... but it's not what you wear that counts. You come to a wedding to celebrate with a couple and wish them well. But a white tux might be nice. Though, I don't think you're supposed to match the bride.
Oh, Japan has a lot of technology... it's a big thing at home. I can tell you a lot about it. If you're interested. I lived in a small town and didn't travel to bigger places like Japan or Kyoto unless I had a competition there... but yeah, the ships are wildly advanced. This city too.
no subject
Sentiment over form? That's admirable. [His own laugh is lower in pitch, but no less amused.] As for a white suit, I was thinking you or Victor. Black has always been a color that fit me well, regardless of the material in question.
Are there cities in Japan more known for technology than others? Some places in the United States seemed to attract such people more than others. [He gestures to the skyline with his sparkler.] There are people on Earth who would lose their minds to see such a vast urban sprawl.
no subject
Yeah, it's the thought that counts... oh. Oh, you meant us? I... well... [He blushes] I hadn't thought about it but... now that there's been a wedding in the fleet, then I wonder...
well Tokyo is the biggest most advanced city. Other places have infrastructure too but Tokyo is the hub. Japan looks... well I wouldn't be surprised if Tokyo turns into this.

Anything can happen in space, it seems. [Not that he's trying to be mean. It's sort of dawning on him how much possibility is opening up. In space, no one can really tell you no.]
I was wondering about that. This planet reminded me of pictures I have seen of cities like Tokyo. Tall buildings, streets writhing with people, and shops for everything.
no subject
Yeah... I guess so. That's just a lot to commit to. I just got to where I can admit we're engaged. It's... a lot for me. I'm an anxious guy.
Yeah, that sounds like Tokyo. They try to have lots of parks but it's a concrete jungle. I prefer Hasetsu. It's quieter, not as many fans dogging me... not that they dog me the way they dog Victor. Everyone loves him at home. The world loves him.
no subject
Well, there's plenty of time, given how futile going home seems to be. If the anxiety is a constant aspect of your personality, Victor is probably well aware of how you get used to changes.
You two are that famous? I never paid much mind to competitive sports with all the moving I did. I do know that figure skating can go up to the Olympic level.
