Meet me at the altar in your white dress

Who: Everyone
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Kayanni System, the city
When: NOW

There is a wedding on the planet. You may know this because you were invited to this wedding by this little guy and it's a lovely ceremony! You can watch the couple get married, wether you know them or not, the whole fleet was invited.Even if they don't know you either.

Noctis was in all black and he was beside himself, the time had finally come and after seeing his beautiful bride he couldn't look away. The music was soft yet appropriate. Luna was beaming, holding onto Shiro's arm down the aisle until they were together and holding hands. The vows went on as if in another room. Noctis couldn't quite focus on them, he was fighting getting sucked into Luna's orbit and just kissing her prematurely. Distantly he heard his cue to repeat after the offician and he recited his vows word for word. Umbra had their rings ready for them. When he put Luna's on her finger he felt a tear spill down his cheek. He couldn't stop smiling. The officiant led Luna then and Noctis hung on every word. Her voice was melodic and soft. Then he had a ring on his finger and he felt himself crying again. He just looked at her, he officiant left them through the end, announcing it was over, they were married.

Noctis didn't wait for any cue, he pulled Luna in close and dipped her as they kissed.

They were laughing and crying and holding each other tight. They were in their own world for the time being. But the RECEPTION starts now. And that's what everyone really came for. There's alcohol, food in a buffet, and cake
. Those of you at the cake tasting with them may notice the flavor you recommended is available as a donut! All of the suggested flavors are availalble, it was hard to decide who didn't get their favorite and what ONE flavor to make an entire cake out of. It didn't sit well with either of them.

Also sparklers
There is a table with a few gifts on it, but it contains a large display of long sparklers with matches and a bucket of water saying "Please light up our night!"

SO Have at the reception everybody!

There is a: Dance floor with music booming, a buffet with delicious food and CAKE, There is BOOZE of all types and it's just flowing with no signs of stopping, and sparklers! Also dancing with the bride..... or getting a photo with the couple!

[ She expects the scar to be commented on by those with less tact and from what she knew of this guy, he had it in spades. It's a nasty-looking thing and she's on guard for someone, somewhere to mention it. For now, though, she's happy to not talk about Raccoon City. It's the one thing she hasn't said a peep about since she'd come to this place and for that, she's thankful. ]

Understandably so, just feel if there's any time to lay it on pretty thick it's a time like this one. [ It's something neither of them can control but she just wants to make it clear how she felt. Her grip is firm but not tight and quick to pull away without it being rude. Her free hand settles on her hip while the one holding the drink vaguely gesticulates. ] Formal, huh? Well, Jill Valentine in that case. I'm with the BSAA -- which I don't tire of explaining is an anti-bioterrorism group. Guess you could infer that I love my job from that.

[ Maybe a little, though never in a way that's condescending. She supposes that's part of why she's glad her memories weren't broadcast. People start to look at you differently when they know certain things. ]

[He's not the kind of man to pry, it's true. Should it come up in conversation, that's a different story.]

Gathering allies then?

[If she is, it's a strange tactic, as not everyone on the Fleet has the goal of going against their captors to return to their worlds. But not an unheard of way to go forward. He himself has engaged in finding both allies and... friends that have nothing to do with Eos since his arrival.]

It's nice to formally get to meet you, Miss Valentine. [He's not formal on purpose. It's ingrained behavior.] And there is nothing wrong with loving one's job, so long as you have balance with other aspects of your life.

[He steals a glance over at Noctis and Lunafreya.]

Or so I've been told.

Ha, maybe! Don't know, haven't been here long enough to really see anything I'd need them for, but a few friendly acquaintances don't hurt.

[ She's a little chipper about it, clearly in a good mood in a way that's obvious that the wedding is really what has cemented it. She's got a hand on her hip-- which makes it a little hard to gesture (however lightly) with drink in the other. Jill's an animated talker, but not overly so. Just enough to really get her point across if her often-mild tone doesn't. ]

Just Jill, please. [ She can tell he's that sort of guy and she can appreciate it on a professional level. But they're all on equal footing in the fleet. ] Hm, well, how about we skip that then because I'm afraid I'm guilty of building my life around what I do. Guess this is more a caution that if I'm a little weird about conversations and kinda turn it toward knives, work-out routines, and battle tactics that I'm just talkin' about what I know.

[ She isn't sure how to respond to the last part and doesn't, but she figures that means that maybe -- just maybe it means that he's similar in some ways. Though if they have anything in common beyond that is hard to say since his occupation is unknown. ]

I have come to the conclusion that one cannot have too many allies. And if nothing else, we can join one another against the Atroma. They've done very little to gain our sympathy, after all.

[It's okay that she's happy. This is a wonderful occasion and though he isn't as upbeat and chipper as Prompto is, Ignis is definitely very pleased for both the fact that it's happened at all and that Noctis and Lunafreya have been able to find some happiness for themselves while being stuck here. It's reminded him that there are two sides to everything.]

Well, Just Jill, [he gives her a slight smile] I promise not to take any surprise at a change in conversation like that. In fact, if you added women and cup noodle to that list, you would remind a great deal of a friend that isn't here and his normal topics of conversation.

Might have too many if you start forgetting their alliances. You can bounce-back from a forgotten name, but that? Not so much. [ A serious answer given with a light, almost amused tone. ] Figure they're cruisin' for a bruisin', so that's one fight you can count me in for. Might be that there's some secret and sympathetic reason, but until that happens I'm going to consider them an enemy.

[ It's easy to lay all of her stress to the side and pour her focus into today's events. It's there, floating around her periphery, but it's a welcome distraction from it all. ]

Cute. [ He seemed like the sort to pull out that joke, but she can't fault him for it when she'd have done the same. ] I can talk about a good cup of noodles, sure, but women aren't really on my radar. Sounds like we'd have something to talk about despite that -- I mean, the flavor combinations are near endless.

[ She puts that one on a little thick. Somehow, it makes it worse instead of better. ]

It's true that if you forget where everyone owes their faith to it can be a problem, but one need not take it to extremes. There are always levels to allies, those more trusted than others.

[He raises an eyebrow at her comment about sympathetic reasonings for the Atroma.] I find it very hard to believe there is some secret reason for them to kidnap those of us from other worlds for the entertainment of this universe the elicits any sort of sympathy.

As for discussions about food, I am always interested in that, since I dabble in cooking myself, but Gladiolus is really the one you should speak to about the joys of cup noodle. Or Noctis himself.

Fair enough, but no one likes being told they're on a lower level even if they expect it, do they? Even if you've only spoken to someone a handful of times, the potential to be something more is there.

[ It's a complicated thing, allies, and she can't say she's the best at managing them. It certainly helps when you save butts like she does and have a standing where she does in her organization. She's more a legend than she is a person -- while she doesn't like the praise, it still suits her just fine. ]

I found it hard to find that I'm out in an ocean of stars docking from planet to planet. Not saying it's true, of course, but who knows? I hate to do the whole "I come first" thing, but if it comes down to it and it's us or them, it doesn't really matter what the reason is, does it?

[ It's something she says with conviction yet there's more running behind her eyes. The way she minutely gazes away from Ignis, not like she knows something but she's had her share of this. That sometimes people -- or things -- take desperate measures for survival and just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not the case. ]

They're enemies until proven otherwise. [ She manages to follow up with a slow shake of her head. ] I occasionally cook, but the kind of work I do doesn't allow for setting up camp or cooking most of the time. [ It gets her to crack a smile, slanted, when her voice trails with a bit of a chuckle. ] I enjoy a good one, but I like real pasta, too. I know a thing or two about Japanese cooking, but I'm more into yakiniku when it comes down to it... but I'll keep that in mind if I ever struggle for a conversation topic, thanks for the hot tip.

That's very true. [No, he is not thinking about some of the people he knows rather well here on the ships.] However, there are some bonds that supersede those of friendship.

If it comes down to it, as you so succinctly put it, I will do everything in my power to make sure that my friends and I triumph over the Atroma. But this is hardly talk for a wedding.

[Jill, you're supposed to engage in lighthearted conversations. Not....that Ignis does small talk all that well for all his training.]

I'm sure that you don't need my assistance in topics of conversation, Jill. You seem perfectly capable of talking about whatever it is that you wish to with authority. And I'm not familiar with "Japanese cooking". Is that an Earth region?

That's one thing I know pretty well. At least back home.

[ She leaves it at that, with no indication that it's a sensitive subject beyond it being one that she doesn't want to talk about. She's unsure how long she'll be apart from them and she's only barely mentioned Chris (or Parker or Barry) and not one by name. It's not that it's easier, it's just she values her privacy.

She's only managed to email Barry. Parker's been overseas since she came back; she'd gotten a message while he was on a mission when he could, but she hasn't seen him at all yet.

And Chris. It's always Chris.
]

No, it's not. Kinda hard to veer away from it once the cat's out of the bag, but if you'd like to discuss that sort of thing at greater length -- tactics and such? -- you know where to find me.

[ The fleet, of course. Her smile reads a like she was going to make a bad joke about it, but held back. ]

...ah, as for that, sorry. Still sort of getting used to you know, all of this. [ She vaguely gestures at this, her surroundings. It seems to incite a bit of sheepish self-awareness in her. ] I know you and Lunafreya and Noctis are probably from a galaxy light years away, but my brain can't seem to consistently wrap around that fact. [ The compliment actually prickles her nerves. Her hand falls on her neck and she kind of (but not really) shrugs. ] It's... ah, Japan is a country where I'm from. It's the origins of cup of noodles, but I'm trying to think of a way to at least explain the cuisine but when I think about it, who knows if those things exist elsewhere?

[He lets the talk of the Atroma die. There's no way he wants to get stuck on just what he truly feels regarding their captors on today of all days.

Besides, he has yet to find anyone from Earth who will actually talk about what their planet is like and he's curious. He has a faint idea that that is where at least one of his friends is from and he'd like to compare that planet with his own.]

There are five of us from Eos, and I'm not exactly sure how far that is from where we are or Earth is. There hasn't been much talk about our homeworlds from the other people in the Fleet as far as I can see, but I would like to know more.

If only to find out why the Atroma selected the people they did for their shwo.

[ When you have a planet that big -- and apparently an alternate version of it than what some people lived on -- it's hard to know where to start. With what you know, right? But Jill's always on the move, never in one place long.

Eos, is what... Greek? Where she's from. She's pretty sure his name is Latin, but it's not one of the languages she knows like the back of her hand.
]

Hm, really? I would've thought people would talk about that more? I seem to do that a lot, anyway. Guy I'm friends with on my ship is from the same planet and country, but it seems to be vastly different. [ So what did that say about where he was from? What about where she was? ] I'm from America, but I live in Canada -- it's a landlocked country north of America. Its called the United States of America because it's so large and individual territories within the country are referred to as states, so you'll hear it referred to as "United States" or sometimes just "America". It's... a country where there's more immigrants than any other around the world so we're influenced by a lot of cultures.

[ She thinks that's kind of an okay explanation but she's not seeing it from a perspective of someone who is blank on the subject. ]

I was thinking it might correlate since I've met so many people from earth, but... none are from "my" earth, it seems.

One of my ship mates says that he is from Canada. He received crates of syrup as a sponsor drop as some sort of joke, I believe.

[He doesn't get it, but it offended Kaiden.]

I suppose that this America is quite like Lucis. There are four different regions that make up the country, but each are different from one another.

Ah, maple syrup. It's a sweet syrup from the maple tree and sort of a national "dish" from the country. If he's not interested I'd be happy to take it off his hands!

[ Joke's on him, she'll gladly have a traditional maple syrup-chugging contest! ]

We've got quite a few more "regions" and it's mostly weather that varies because the country is so vast -- dry and arid heat, snow up north some of the year, droughts, rain, canyons or farmland or suburbs... so on. Some get all and some get none. Honestly, it's pretty cool when you think about it. [ What a nerd, little hand on her hip like she's some kind of middle school elementary teacher about to turn a chair around backwards and have a Real Talk with some kids. ] Is Eos part of Lucis, then, or is it a different country altogether or...?

[ She keeps her eyes on his, clear that she's listening and interested in his side, as well. ]

[personal profile] nonightdriving 2017-09-17 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not just maple flavored. I took a few bottles of each flavor and have tried to incorporate them into my cooking so as to give us something different from the gel and paste that we get as base food nutrients. I'm sure there are at least a few bottles left. They were rather large crates.

[Joke's on Jill, because there were some pretty strange flavors too.]

Eos is the planet. Lucis is the country I'm from. The others are the Niflheim Empire, Altissia and Tenebrae to name a few.
torsion: (schoolgirl.)

Well, if it's actual maple syrup is all that matters. Don't mind it so long as it's not corn syrup. How did that work out, anyway?

[ If there's some left over, she suspects not as well as he'd like. And that the flavors might be... weird. Weirder than she is imagining, at least. ]

I see. Some of those words are familiar. Tenebrae is an Italian word where I'm from. [ And an excellent, classic horror film. ] Always interesting when that sort of thing seems to be the case.

You'd have to ask Kaiden. I would say that my attempts to use the syrup have been mostly successful because I was already well acquainted with experimental cooking before coming here. But I did have to stop after a while. There's only so much of something that a person can take.

[Please take the syrup from the First Breath.]

Oddly enough, Tenebrae is the name of a spirit from another crewmate's world. He sometimes makes inquiries about the magic on all of the different worlds we come from. Perhaps you should talk to him sometime. His name is Yuan Ka-Fai.

We've spoken once, though not in person. [ Jill was a traveling mercenary for three years, you can bet she's eaten weird things and will continue to do so. ] Guess so, yeah, though I'd be hard-pressed to get bored of a good steak. Not that I want to be challenged on that.

[ With her luck, that's all she'd get to eat for months and this place would ruin that for her. But she's still recovering and there are a lot of things she's been denied and desperately wants to reacquaint herself with. People forget what a luxury certain normal, everyday things can be until they're without. ]

Magic isn't a thing where I'm from, I'm afraid. I mean it's either fictional or it's sleight of hand illusions for the sake of entertainment, so I'm not sure there's anything I could add or derive from that kind of conversation. [ Though for people where it does exist, hearing about it as fiction might be helpful. ] Spirits -- unless you mean alcohol -- are also fictional. Little hard to wrap my head around, but I'm doing my best. We're out here floating around like this so it'd be wrong of me not to keep an open mind.

[ With that, she does finally crack into the fresh glass. Just a touch more than a sip, but she tries to be civilized instead of downing it all to crush her nerves. ]

[His lips quirk up in a vague smile.]

I'm sure that the rest of the Fleet would agree with you there. Too much of a good thing can be ill, after all.

[Don't tempt the Atroma or the Sponsors. They can be very annoying.]

You'll find that there are a lot of people here from worlds where magic and spirits of the non-alcoholic kind are very common. I would say that an open mind is almost a necessity at this point. Or one will be doomed to suffer for it.

It's been a long time since I've had anything good. Even the obvious can escape me when I don't think about it in that way.

[ She's exhausted, to tell the truth. There's nothing to do but keep fighting and it's all she wants to do, but realistically she needs a break. Even if it were rehab for months.

She lightly swirls her glass in her hand, even if it's a wine thing and not a champagne thing.
]

Not surprised that there are more than I thought. [ She's always had an open mind, though she's also definitely the type of person who is stubborn and sticks to things if she believes herself right. It's not easy to change her mind once she's come to a conclusion. ] Maybe I should start taking notes at this point.

Perhaps now is time for you to learn to enjoy things once more. If only for a little.

[She's not the only one that could use a vacation from things, but if she doesn't slow down, she's going to run herself ragged and that serves no one any good.

But he has to bite his tongue of the way that she's nearly making the champagne slosh about in the fluted glass. Not his problem. Not his problem. Not his problem.]

Not a bad idea, taking notes. There is a lot we can learn from one another if we allow it to happen.

Hm, maybe. I have to admit, I've never been the best at that. Guess you could say in my group that I'm the sort of person that ensures everyone else is safe and cared for.

[ That's an understatement. She'd never stopped being Rear Security, though she'd only selectively throw her life away. It was easier than she'd thought it would be to do that, though. You don't think about it in a realistic sense -- easy, no problem, until the time comes when you have mere seconds to make the decision.

And Jill chose him.
]

Ha, well, I'll try to make them useful all-around in that case. [ Her movement is faint before it stops entirely. She'd really be more comfortable hopping up to sit on a table than even a chair, but she's still on her best behavior. ] I'm used to mission reports so I'm a little too thorough, but I don't embellish. I do understand that stance. I am the same kind of person, but then Noctis and Prompto will complain that I have a habit of "mothering" them.

[And yet they're not wrong either. Ignis, relax.]

There is such a thing as being too factual. There's nothing wrong with letting loose every once in a while.
