[A very well-dressed man is seriously studying the communicator. His hair is tousled, and his clothing- fancy as it is- looks disheveled. Like he fell asleep in his clothes or... something else.

At any rate, the young man looks pretty irate, but when he speaks, his voice is perfectly friendly.]

I've been watching this network for a bit and want to make sure I am understanding things correctly. I am part of a group of people who have been abducted and will be used to entertain a television audience? [He purses his lips.] Is there anything else I should know?

One small thing having unforeseen ripple effects- it does make a lot of sense to me. I have no reason to disbelieve that there are different universes, especially having watched the network for a bit.

[She laughs a little.] Just wait until you meet some of our fellow members of the fleet face to face. As different as you and I's universes are, you're from one of the most similar to my own that I've met so far.

I would be interested to hear about some of these other worlds, to tell you the truth- it wasn't until I left medical school that I began to travel beyond my own home planet. I feel as though I need to broaden my horizons.
