The Blameless, 9/3

[After so many months on the ship with her brother and the humans that seemed to come and go as they pleased, Edna's gotten used to people who can see her. She knows that she still doesn't show up well on the communicators because they just don't have any resonance, but that doesn't matter to her one bit. It's much more interesting to be the disembodied voice over the little machines in her opinion.

Since Calibrations, the fact that she's so far from Rayfalke after spending nearly her entire life on the mountainside has left her feeling listless. The last system didn't help with its distinct lack of anything truly natural on the planet's surface. Jobs on the farms with Sorey helped, but she's just not that easily satisfied. She never has been, if you ask Eizen or Zaveid.

Her slow-building irritation isn't helped by the disruption being put off by the newer system they approach. If anything, it's worsened. And where she would normally walk around silently, moving between her room with her small collection of things from her friends and the Atroma, the personnel office that makes up her "duties",and the ship's kitchen. As the days drag on, her footsteps grow heavier, shaking the ship's floor for yards around her.]

Move. You're in the way. [Manners are overrated. Sorry, shipmates.]

The Iskaulit, 9/4

[She can't stand the ships and the confinement and the lack of fresh air. And so she's taken a shuttle to the Iskaulit to find an area to stretch her legs. She'd offered to help that Hawke woman with her strange sage-like herb, but she hasn't started yet with the irritation in the air as of late.

She stops when she reaches an area that's open and bare. It's big enough for her to let out all of her frustration on. Honestly, it's perfect. She removes her communicator from the pouch she's taken to carrying and sends out two identical texts to Mikleo and Eizen. "I'm on the Iskaulit. Come to the big open area on the other side of the ship from Malum." Then she prepares to wait.]

The Iskaulit, 9/7

[Anyone visiting the large ship over the last three days will not have missed all of the noise coming from this previously abandoned area and should they arrive, they'll find the small Earth Seraph staring at the scene of chaos with a sort of half-pleased smile on her face.

Until she's interrupted by someone she doesn't immediately know.]

[Ah, that stream is definitely Mikleo's touch. It looks so amazing; Sorey's grown so accustomed to the carefully cultivated flora and landscapes of the stations and asteroids, even with the natural planets they've seen, that it's odd to see something so real with the hum of the ship still around them.

He takes a seat at her table when she asks (commands?), still craning his neck to try and see everything.] Now at least I know how you choose to keep yourself busy. Are you going to let anybody else climb on this?

[Of course she had Mikleo help. Why not use the Water Seraph for something like that?]

I guess so. Seems a waste to tell everyone they can't use a space that's so open. [She closes her eyes and looks up at the "mountain peak".]

I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't even bother asking in the first place.

Probably not as many as back home. [If this place has one thing going for it, it's that the number of people who can see and hear his friends is exceptionally high. For someone like Edna, who spent decades shouting herself hoarse trying to save people before finally giving up, maybe that could be a comfort.]

So you say.

[Does she sound convinced? No? No.]

There are definitely more people here that actually hear me when I speak, but that doesn't mean they'll listen. Those two are not exactly the same thing.

I guess that's always gonna be a problem. [The ability to communicate might be the first step, but if the second step is getting people listen then the gap between the two is wide indeed.] ...you know, Lailah scolded me, before. When she was here.

I never said it wasn't.

[Getting people to listen is hard when they just don't care. At least Edna herself had attempted more often than not, even when ignoring others.]

And that's not that surprising, considering how hardheaded you are. What was it about?

[Hey...] I told her I had been armatizing with the others when there wasn't a need to, and she...well, she told me to make sure I wasn't using it as an excuse to avoid talking. That just because we could share our hearts and feelings that way, we shouldn't rely on it.

[Edna reaches over with her parasol and pokes him in the ribs. Gently, for her anyway.]

I've been thinking about that. We haven't had to do much fighting here, I guess, but you also haven't mentioned armatization with me since I arrived either.

[She cocks her head to the side in thought.]

Is that why you told me about the stuff with Mikleo so soon after I got here?

[It didn't actually hurt, but Sorey rubs the spot by habit anyway.] It's...a part of it. More than that, I didn't want you to be in the dark; it wouldn't be fair to you. [Edna is no stranger to crushing news, and he was there when she'd suffered worse with the death of her brother, but that didn't mean it wouldn't still be dishonest and frankly disrespectful to keep this from her.]

[She's not really trying to hurt him. He's learned his lesson and she's ready to start acting like they're pretty much family again. Annoyingly stupid family, but family nonetheless.]

Well, if we're being honest here, when you told me I wanted to hit you. I almost did.

I was surprised when you didn't, [Sorey confesses. He'd expected her to throw her chair at his head, honestly.] Though, I think that helped me understand how much I'd hurt you.

[She gives him a wry smile before shrugging.]

And what would hitting you accomplished? It was already done and over with. Besides, I know you and Mikleo both. You never blame the other. You both try to carry the burden all alone. It wouldn't have made me feel better about the fact that I wasn't here.

[Besides, she taught him more with her silence than she would have with her rage.]

[Well, that's a pretty on the nose assessment of them, enough to cow Sorey a little bit. He ducks his head, scrubbing his hand through his hair a little bit.] Edna, that's not your fault, it's not like you had control over when you came here...

[Well, she does know them. They're not that difficult to understand.]

Do feelings make sense though? Besides, it's not like I blame myself. I blame the Atroma.

No, I guess they don't. [Which makes them a pain in the ass. Sometimes.] I've also...had some problems with armatizing. I didn't want to dump that on you with no explanation in the middle of a fight.

[Um, hello, who do you think you're talking to? Duh.]

What problems? [She turns her full attention to her Shepherd with a frown.] And why didn't you tell me before now with the crazy planet?

[SSSIGHHH...] Because I'm a big idiot, Miss Edna. [He knows he's gonna get in trouble no matter what the reason is...and honestly that's the reason anyway, so.]

[She stares at him for a minute, all of the anger knocked out of her momentarily by that admission.

Then, she stands up and looks.]

Where is it?

Where's- huh? Where's what?

[She rolls here eyes at his dopey reply and shoves her hand in his face again.]

The Divine Artefact, dummy. Where is it?

Oh! Right, of course, [Sorey fumbles a bit before closing his eyes and drawing forth the gauntlets. He hadn't really expected her to ask for that like, right away, but Edna does always go for the unexpected.] Here.

[She takes the gauntlets and inspects them carefully before handing them back.]

Should be fine. Stand up. And hurry up, we don't have all day.

What- armatize? Right now? [IT'S SO SUDDEN. ....okay so it's not as sudden as the bajillion times they've done it in battle, but, LOOK, OKAY, USUALLY HE WORKS HIMSELF UP TO IT.]

Look, Sorey, if you have some sort of weird block about armatizing with me, I'd rather get it out of the way now and not wait until you need it to live through a fight.

Now, stand up and stop arguing with me or I will punch you.

[Don't push your luck, buster.]

[Stands up, STILL KINDA WANTS TO ARGUE...] Okay, okay, just...just give me a minute. Please?
