The Blameless, 9/3

[After so many months on the ship with her brother and the humans that seemed to come and go as they pleased, Edna's gotten used to people who can see her. She knows that she still doesn't show up well on the communicators because they just don't have any resonance, but that doesn't matter to her one bit. It's much more interesting to be the disembodied voice over the little machines in her opinion.

Since Calibrations, the fact that she's so far from Rayfalke after spending nearly her entire life on the mountainside has left her feeling listless. The last system didn't help with its distinct lack of anything truly natural on the planet's surface. Jobs on the farms with Sorey helped, but she's just not that easily satisfied. She never has been, if you ask Eizen or Zaveid.

Her slow-building irritation isn't helped by the disruption being put off by the newer system they approach. If anything, it's worsened. And where she would normally walk around silently, moving between her room with her small collection of things from her friends and the Atroma, the personnel office that makes up her "duties",and the ship's kitchen. As the days drag on, her footsteps grow heavier, shaking the ship's floor for yards around her.]

Move. You're in the way. [Manners are overrated. Sorry, shipmates.]

The Iskaulit, 9/4

[She can't stand the ships and the confinement and the lack of fresh air. And so she's taken a shuttle to the Iskaulit to find an area to stretch her legs. She'd offered to help that Hawke woman with her strange sage-like herb, but she hasn't started yet with the irritation in the air as of late.

She stops when she reaches an area that's open and bare. It's big enough for her to let out all of her frustration on. Honestly, it's perfect. She removes her communicator from the pouch she's taken to carrying and sends out two identical texts to Mikleo and Eizen. "I'm on the Iskaulit. Come to the big open area on the other side of the ship from Malum." Then she prepares to wait.]

The Iskaulit, 9/7

[Anyone visiting the large ship over the last three days will not have missed all of the noise coming from this previously abandoned area and should they arrive, they'll find the small Earth Seraph staring at the scene of chaos with a sort of half-pleased smile on her face.

Until she's interrupted by someone she doesn't immediately know.]

[She's suitably impressed, not that she cracks her carefully crafted facade of indifference.]

I guess there are worse things than having you come around once a month.

[As if she doesn't come by or speak to him at least once every three days. If not sooner.]

I notice that Sorey hasn't called me to take a look at the plants on The Huntress lately. Have you stopped killing them finally?

[You brat, see if he ever helps you again.]

Who said I was killing them? I've got nothing to do with it! If anything, my water just encourages them to grow stronger.

[There's a reason the Huntress has the nicest water in the fleet, geez.]

Anyway, no one said you needed an invitation to come over.

[He will, because he knows that if he asks for help, she'll be there to lend it. So, take your teasing like a man.]

It was more a general you, not you specifically. Don't tell me you're going to cry now.

[He's not, but she has to give him a hard time. It's part of her pact.]

I know. The same could be said for you too.

[HUFF!!!]

I guess I could stand to visit more... Eizen still owes me a few stories.

[and that's totally the only reason.]

[She'll just make fun of you. But she does that anyway.]

Eizen owes everyone stories. Come over and we can make him tell us both at the same time.

[She sees through you, Mikleo.]

[Huffffff. She's impossible.]

I'll have to bring Sorey as well. He'd sulk endlessly if he missed stories from way back when.

[But he loves her anyway.]

No, we can't have that. He's bad enough right now. [She sighs as if put upon.] Fine, you can both come.

I'll pass along the invitation.

actually it's kind of exciting. stories! with eizen! if anyone can get him to share more it's edna]

So, what's the next step? Shall I map out the river? Do you want a pond for the source, or just the flowing water?

[She's not the best at sharing. Especially when it comes to Eizen. But, she's willing to force her brother to share stories with her and the others.]

What's next is we sit down and look at it for a while so an actual idea comes. It's not the right shape, but I need to figure out what's wrong with it right now.

[well, he does sit willingly enough, but as soon as he's down he already can tell there might be a clashing of opinions here.]

You like the rocks sharp and pronounced, don't you? Like Rayfalke?

[it's how her artes appear as well, though that's probably in part due to them being attacks...]

[She looks over him and examines him like he's some weird specimen of bird, bug or rock.]

Rayfalke is a mountain. It's bound to have lots of sharp, pointy edges. The wind and the rain sculpt it that way. Besides, I have an area on the mountain where I "live", you know.

It's all soft and round, like your hair, Fluffleo.

[excuse me]

Ugh... not another nickname...

[Excuse her while she laughs at you. Ha ha.]

I'm sure I can find a few more along the way.

[Nothing. And she does call him by his actual name, you know. She just likes teasing him as well.]

though he should probably work on not reacting, since getting riled up only fuels her and he knows that.]

[Oh, Mikleo, you're going to stay her favorite for years to come if you keep reacting like that.]

If you don't want a lot of dumb nicknames, stop saying dumb generalizations about me.

You come up with them and use them no matter what I do!

That's true.

[She flashes him a quick smile before kicking her booted feet against the metallic floor of the ship and going back to staring at the mountain.]

There are worse things than nicknames though.

...I won't argue with that.

[He's felt the stab of her umbrella enough times to know better.]

[Edna pulls out the Elfroot plant she got from Hawkeye and looks it over.]

This plant is supposed to be magical, to be used in potions. But it just looks like sage to me. Nothing too special.

[Mikleo peers over, scrutinizing it, and leans in to give it a sniff.]

Doesn't smell like any herb I'm familiar with. Do you want to plant some around the mountain?

That's my plan. I told Featherhead....Hawke that I'd see what I could do with it. She was whining about not having enough for her potions.

[She looks over at him with a suspicious expression.]

It might be interesting.

[good grief, what is he getting himself into.]

Dezel or Zaveid might be of better use to you there... they're the ones with plants all over their rooms. But I can help to give them pure water, if you want.

[Because he's a sap and she actually can be pretty convincing when she needs to be.]

If I wanted Sharkface or Grampveid's help, I would have asked them.

[She asked you.]

he is a bit touched, though. as usual, Edna's way of showing that she cares is unorthodox, but it's recognizable.]

I had no idea I'd become so dependable for you.

[ Wow, what a way to dishonor her love and trust for you, Mikleo. That's going to earn you another nickname. Worse than Fluffleo.

And Edna doesn't do anything the way that others do. She wants to be different. ]
