[As a habitual practitioner of magic, Arthur couldn't really pass up the opportunity to get some supplies after finding out just what sorts of things one could buy in these markets. So his hands quickly filled up with bags containing crystals, amulets, and a few different decks of their own style of fortune telling cards. So what if their cost took a big chunk out of his savings thus far, he had spells to do!]

[It might not have been his specialty, but the nation was certain that no fortune telling via computer algorithm could possibly be accurate. Magic wasn't done by computers. Ridiculous.

And it didn't take a specialist either to spot the business opportunity provided.

A sign outside promised 'ancient and exotic fortunes,' the scent of tea constantly drifting out from the booth he'd rented for the duration of their stay. Technically, it wasn't a lie. He was ancient compared to most, and England was certainly exotic this far from Earth.]

[Felix tilts his head to try to peer into the bags]

Are you planning something with all this or do you just fancy yourself a collector?

Bit of both, I suppose.

[He shifts them around to try and organize them better.]

I've been looking into some countercurse work, though I'll confess it's not my specialty.

[And that's where his eyebrows shoot up]

No? What is your specialty?

Well, that's a bit harder to pin down. I suppose I dabble in a variety of things, that's all.

[A thousand years worth of dabbling, but technicalities...]

[All you ancient people!!!

He shrugs, however, understanding on a personal level, at least, that it was difficult to quantify a specialty for himself. The answer doesn't strike him as evasive.]

I had to ask. Perhaps you could tell me about these countercurses you'd like to attempt. How are they meant to work?

[He can't help it if it's an old man with a baby face!

Arthur shifted his bags, adjusting the weight.]

Well, since the direct fix of reaching out to the source to appease or force them into rescinding the curse is obviously out, I've been looking into magical blockers. The easiest ones tend to be temporary, of course, unless you do an entire magical scrub, but I could make a few of them.

Alternatively, there's the option of a fresh spell over the old. A little trickier, but as long as the magics don't blend wrong, possible.

I've hardly heard of different types of magic blending without it being intentional, let alone doing it wrong. But that said, what makes these blockers a temporary measure? Do they lose potency over time or would it be more accurate to say they absorb the magic of the spell they are blocking?

[He looks at Arthur for a moment.

Sigh.

I guess he can acknowledge the man is struggling]

Do you need some help with all that?

[Arthur was a little reluctant to except the help, but he couldn't deny that his arms are getting tired.]

If you don't mind. I'm not quite as young as I used to be, I'm afraid to admit.

And it's really more the nature of my magic. It's tied to my land as much as to myself. And, well…

[He pointedly looked around at the market they stood in.]

We are very, very far from that.

[Felix isn't exactly very strong himself, but hopefully he can handle a bag or two. He offers an arm for Arthur to slip them onto]

Yes, indeed. Which is an interesting point all it's own. I believe there are more than a few people here who's power is derived from a specific property of their world. The fact that such magic can continue to function in this universe leads a few question all it's own. But...I slightly digress. [He smiles faintly, theories about magic buzzing in the back of his mind]

Have you noticed any more changes to your magic since you have been here? Reductions in power? Changes to how it works? That sort of thing?

[Arthur transferred over a few of the lighter ones, leaving his own load less awkward and easier to carry.]

Thank you. I've had the advantage of having some of my people here if not the actual land. For my nature, they're just as important. And well, I'm here.

[He pondered the question, rolling it over in his mind.]

Perhaps a touch less control in the natural part. I haven't done much in rituals here, never sure when they'll short something out, so I haven't tested that.

I do have some warded sections on the Iskaulit should you decide you want to practice that. I haven't officially opened them up to public use yet, but they could be of use in that regard.

[A beat as he considers how they might be able to perform tests elsewhere, when another thing occurs to him]

What do you mean, your people?
