Who: Gil + OPEN. Gil + Tyrion. Gil + Dorian.
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Iskaulit - Málum
When: Forward dated to a few days after the planet's destruction.
[OPEN - VIDEO]
I think I need a distraction. Poker in Málum?
[OPEN - ACTION]
People seemed interested in playing poker before a planet was evaporated, and now, to Gil, it seemed important to offer a place to decompress and process. Poker was a good way to bond and remind yourself that you were alive. They could also use this game to plan for future poker nights - because they indeed had a future.
He left the invitation open and then found a table in Málum to relax a nurse a couple beers. Anyone could join the game at any time while he was there, and maybe even after if anyone else had a pack of cards.
[TYRION]
He had met Tyrion after the engines had failed. They had been two engineers working together frantically to save as many as possible. That sort of mad dash work leaves an impression, and Gil figures they both could use a drink. A lot of drinks actually.
He sends a private invitation to Tyrion, telling him he'll pay for the first round, and that's how he ends up in the bar again. This time he keeps looking over to the enterance see if Tyrion has arrived.
[DORIAN]
Gil had promised Dorian a drink as soon as they could and so once he has that moment he contacts Dorian and offers to meet in the bar. He honestly feels less nervous about meeting Dorian that he had seeing Tyrion again. With Dorian there was attraction and flirting and there was something intrinsically comforting there. The idea of having the attention of a beautiful man was enough to make a person feel alive - even when faced with so much destruction.

You message came at an opportune time. I could use a drink or two.

[ Gil's brow lifts a bit as Dorian enters and comes near. He's even more pretty in person.]
Maybe even three? [He offers with a bit of a smile.] Or ten.

Ah, I wouldn't worry about that. Tonight is about having a good time, not fussing over credits.

Ooh. Been a while since I've been around good wine. [Still, they can order and then settle in once Dorian has his drink.]
So, tell me about where you're from? Unless that topic is too painful? [It still seems better than asking about current events.]

No, it's quite alright. I'm from the Tevinter Imperium. I'm almost certain you're unaware of where that is. It is a country to the north of the Waking Sea. The climate is certainly more tolerable than the cold of the South.

On my way.
[Cloud's been to the bar before, though it's a little kitschy for his tastes, but a bar's a bar and cards are cards. He orders a drink at the bar before taking it over to the table in the back, sliding into a chair and grabbing one of the cork coasters for his glass.]
Deal me in.

[Gil shuffles and then starts dealing.]

Bar
"Well hello there, fellow genius engineer."
Re: Bar
Gil chuckles and makes sure that Tyrion is seated before replying. "That's right, we are geniuses aren't we?"

"Not too different from back home then," Gil answered. Though they hadn't had such a planet destroying catastrophe yet, it seemed in the realm of possibility.
Rather than focusing on that, though, he asks, seemingly randomly, "Say. have you ever heard of the krogan?"

He's been...it's been rough. He'd passed out for the better part of a day after the planet was destroyed but after that...well. There was a reason he worked himself as hard as he did during the evacuation. He's been holing himself in his room since he work up, but that doesn't really make things better. Nothing really makes anything better, but maybe if he switches things up and tries to distract himself with drinks and cards it'll work better.
Felix sinks somewhat heavily into a seat across from Gil.]
I'll warn you, I'm not actually that good at cards. Might not be much of a challenge.
[Apparently that's in lieu of an actual hello. He looks different from the guy talking about FTL tech over the comms. The look in his eyes is duller, though his posture looks like an attempt at being laid back. Felix smiles, even though it's a little tight and doesn't really reach his eyes.]

[Gil can relate to working yourself to the bone, and he offers Felix a smile in greeting. It is more muted than his normal smiles, but still there, still welcoming.]
And who doesn't want company with a guy who can calculate a course through the stars and make it to the other side?
no subject
From personal experience, a decent number of people. [That probably potentially makes him sound like he might be an asshole, but clearly he doesn't care enough to offer a further explanation. It's true, even though not all of that is his fault. He's still smiling that same smile at Gil, though.] I appreciate your not being among them though.

It's especially unexpected now, of all times, so Felix ends up unintentionally staring at Gil for a few seconds before he dips his head in a small nod. His smile is, maybe, a little bit more genuine after the compliment. But he's not really in the right mood to engage in this discussion, so:]
Also appreciated. [He stretches out a hand a little.] Cards?
