Who: Keith, and you!
Broadcast: video
Action: on the Huntress and the Iskaulit
When: Right after and the first several days after the meteor hits the planet
video immediately after planet explodes
[Keith was on the bridge of the Huntress. They'd just had a bit of a rough ride as he'd held on as long as he possibly could to get as many people as possible, so they'd barely made it at the last minute, pushing the ship as hard as it could go.]
We still have people to look after, so don't give up, yet. Let's get everyone patched up and loaded to that station.
[He cut it off there. He had work to do.]
=====
action on Huntress and Blameless shortly after planet explodes
Keith was exhausted. He had been having trouble sleeping all the way through this, and the evacuation had come at the end. In typical Keith fashion, he had pushed himself to the limit, and now he was feeling it. He dropped the ship back into position in the Fleet after having unloaded their refugees to the station, and engaged the autopilot. Then, he excused himself from the bridge. He was headed for the Blameless, but would be back later.
Once back, he'd be checking the pilot's station to make sure the ship was doing okay after the crazy run, working out in the cargo bay, attempting to make something edible in the kitchen, or not-hiding in his room.
=====
action on the Iskaulit, Blameless, Heron, Bishop, or Huntress throughout the week
With the song of the planet really and completely gone, it was an odd sort of silence. Keith wasn't sure when he'd actually gotten used to feeling it, but now it was gone, and he was almost more restless than before. He gave up on the exercise equipment on the Huntress and was spending some time in the bigger gym on the Iskaulit instead. Pull this kid out of the gym before he exercises himself into a coma.

[Straightening up, she slowly moves into a side split.]
Could it have something to do with the augments? I'm not thrilled about those in the first place.
no subject
Also, what just happened? It only resembled one of the three different dreams I've seen people talk about. [It resembled the one he had... which was pretty good nightmare fuel right there.] That has me worried.
[He crossed his arms, leaning against the wall for now.]
no subject
[Kaname stays like there, brow furrowing.]
What about the other two? Were they much different?
no subject
[He frowned.]
I'm not sure if I can really link them together. They seem so different from each other. But, the other two didn't happen here. Just the fireball and exploding planet.
no subject
[Kaname isn't one to put so much stock in vague possibilities, but she never entirely discounts them either. She lets out a hum before moving into a sitting position on the mat.]
I'm sorry, I doubt this is the best topic of conversation right now. My name's Kaname.
no subject
[He sighed.]
Better to work on this than not.
[He nodded.] I'm Keith.
no subject
There's not much I can offer except someone to speak with. Hopefully that helps at least a little. [Keith receives a soft smile.]
Is there anything you'd like to talk about? I like the distraction.
no subject
[He sighed and considered her offer.]
Well, my dream was what happened to this last planet. The others aren't as clear to me because I didn't see them firsthand. But, I'm curious as to which one we might encounter first. It would help to focus on the right one and worry about the other one later.
no subject
When you saw it, was it clear it was a meteor? Or was it more obtuse? [Even if she wasn't here for it, she is taking a genuine interest in what's happened.]
It might be a way to see how literally the others should be considered.
no subject
So, yeah... I mean, it was hard to tell exactly what the fireball was in the dream, but, well, everything else matched what happened.
[Which reminded him of something... and he frowned, shuddering slightly.]
The people we didn't save... they burned to death...
no subject
Hey, don't do that. [There's a gentleness to her stern words when she tries to take back his focus.]
Don't beat yourself up or dwell on it, you'll only be punishing yourself when you did nothing wrong.
[Her arms drop, and Kaname stands, walking over to where Keith is.]
Tell me about yourself.
no subject
[He dropped his gaze for a moment, and then shrugged a little.] I'm a pilot. Well... [He hesitated as he tried to figure out how to describe it.] I'm a Paladin of Voltron, and I pilot the Red Lion. Which, is exactly what that sounds like. Voltron is a giant robot that is formed when the five smaller robot lions transform and combine. There are five of us... the other four are here, too.
no subject
[She decides to sit cross legged on the floor near him to listen, tilting her head up when he mentions piloting.]
It's good that you've got your friends here, too. [But now on to the robot thing.] Is Voltron a bigger lion or a different form altogether?
[Kaname sounds genuinely curious, not skipping a beat when it comes to mentions of piloting a combining robotic vehicles.]
no subject
Different. It looks like a giant robot person.
[He was kind of glad she wasn't looking at him like he was crazy. He'd gotten enough of that trying to describe it to some people.]
The Black Lion makes up the torso and head. The Red Lion, mine, is the right arm. Green is the left. And then Blue and Yellow are the right and left legs. Green controls the shield, Red can generate a sword, and Yellow has the ability to give Voltron a large shoulder canon. We haven't found Blue's ability, yet, but I think we will soon.
There's actually still a lot of stuff we're learning about the Lions and Voltron as we grow with them as pilots and a team. The Lions are actually somewhat sentient, so they're more like animal partners than just tools to be used as weapons.
no subject
[Her words are easily audible, but meant more for herself as a mental comparison. Kaname listens, taking each bit of information in stride.]
I think I can picture that. Color coded for my convenience is nice, however. [Chuckling a little, she poses another question.]
So how's the lion itself work? When you pilot it I mean. Where do you sit?
no subject
Oddly enough, the colors kind of go with their abilities, too. Red has a lava canon and can handle extremely high temperatures. Blue has a freeze ray, operates the best under water, and has a sonic canon. Green has a beam weapon that can cause spontaneous vine growth. Yellow has a large lower jaw good for digging and can drill through solid rock with a spin move that Hunk just recently figured out. And Black has the ability to teleport short distances. It's like... fire, water, nature, earth, and cosmos... I think that's how Allura put it.
[Kaname had definitely hit on something, though, to get Keith's mind off Lyuku by encouraging him to talk about Voltron. The bond between a Paladin and Lion could run pretty deep sometimes, and it was clear that Keith was very attached to his Lion.]
The lions use something called 'quintessence' as a power source. Allura said it's a lot like a life force or something in the universe that's just... everywhere. For the most part, they're mechanical. We sit in the head, and it's like a typical cockpit. There are control sticks and pedals, a display with various readouts for targeting, sensors, damage reports... all that. There's a large screen that gives us a view of the outside.
The rest of it, though, we're not really entirely sure how it works. That's where the quintessence and the idea of bonding with your Lion come in. It's actually a lot more mystical than you'd expect, and I really don't know a lot about how any of it works on that level, or even how describe what I do know. I just know it does. The Lions react to us and our needs, and they're able to provide guidance and ideas based on that. For the most part, it's us piloting them, but there are times when they act on their own. That's usually when one of us is in danger. The Lion will come to save us.
[Red had come for him a few times already, and Black and Green had acted on their own to save Shiro and Pidge respectively. Pidge had even mentioned that Green boosted her own energy to get the beacon she'd built to work stronger when Pidge had gotten upset that it hadn't functioned right off the bat.]
no subject
Mysteries of the universe, hm? [It's a nice idea, she thinks, to have a bond with something like that.] Your group sounds wonderful. It's important to have friends like that.
[Her head rests on the wall behind her.] So is that what you do here? Pilot?
no subject
Yeah. It was an adjustment, but... I'm glad to be a part of it. [The Castle of Lions was his home now.]
I am. I'm on the Huntress. I guess I was one of those lucky people that ended up with an augment that suits what I do back home.
no subject
You are lucky with that, but it probably makes sense for there not to be one for what I do. A member of a tactical sound unit is pretty hard to replicate. [She chuckles a little.] However, I am personnel. How am I doing for my first go at it?
no subject
Tactical sound unit? [How that related to her being in a singing group? What was tactical about it?] And, I guess you're doing okay? I'm not really sure what personnel officers do. [He shrugged a little sheepishly.]
no subject
[Kaname looks over at him, deciding how to describe it. Oh, whatever.]
We sing on the battlefield. In my home, there's a condition called Var Syndrome. Most of the time, when someone contracts it, they turn into an anger fueled, rampaging berserker type of person that can cause copious amounts of damage, especially if they've got access to weaponry or military equipment. It's happened more often than you might think.
But my group, Walküre, takes care of that. Our voices can cure the Var as well as prevent future outbreaks, so that's what we do most of the time. [She smiles fondly.] We're a part of a larger organization, Xaos, a civilian contractor that has all sorts of branches, including a militarized section. The tactical sound unit is out official designation. Information gathering, Var prevention... It's varied, but we work closely with the Delta Flight all the way-- part of the military.
[Keith receives a small smile.] It might sound pretty strange, but that's what I'm used to.
no subject
Plus, she had mentioned something about some sort of fighters sound similar to Voltron, so he decided to focus on that.]
And do you use those... bat-troid fighter things you mentioned?
no subject
I don't fly them personally, but the Delta Flight, the ones who protect us during battle, do. [She looks up at the ceiling.] We owe our lives to them many times over.
no subject
So... you're a singer, but you're a fighter, too, huh?
[He was trying, okay? It was hard to wrap his head around that.]
no subject
[She exhales slowly, relaxing a little.] But most of the time, we're out in the open. Being deployed to an active battle field is always a risk. We focus on singing, and Delta Flight focuses on combat and keeping us safe. Our equipment is outfitted to protect us as well, but of course, there's a limit to what it can do compared to variable fighters.
