[Falling asleep was easy. Exhaustion had played such a huge part of things when Ignis's head had touched his pillow that night after watching the meteor strike Lyuku. Waking up, on the other hand, is difficult. Everything feels stiff and he's not sure that he really wants to face it. Suddenly, he understands how Noctis has felt on more than one occasion.

A sound to his left catches his attention and he turns his head in that direction, pulling on the scar tissue around his left eye, nose and forehead.]

The Six take me... Gladio, is that you?

[No, this isn't Zegnatus. No bed in the dread fortress was this...comfortable isn't the world. Familiar. This bed is familiar, but not the bed he had in Insomnia. It takes a minute as he attempts to open his sightless eyes out of habit.]

Noct? Prompto?

I feel I must apologize to anyone who has been worried about me since the excitement with the inhabitants of Lyuku. I appear to have gone back to Eos for a short period of time.

Mostly everyone's been recovering from what happened on the last planet.

[It's been pretty somber, and not terribly exciting.]

Hm, yes, that seems to be what I got from the rest of the crew here. Kaidan and Furiosa have yet to return.

[Which is weird. Waiting for the dead to come back to life.]

Everyone seems to be a little frightened to tell me exactly what happened while I was asleep, but I seem to remember being the one giving others bad news not too long ago.

Yeah, Eleanor's still gone.

[She's so mad about that. And sad. But anger is easier.]

I don't know why they'd be frightened. You were awake for the worst of it, I think.

Hopefully, she will return soon. It appears to be something that happens here. As strange as that sounds.

[He doesn't blame her. He'd probably be just as angry if it were anyone close to him, including her.]

Because they all blame themselves for how I got injured and I have yet to tell them the circumstances. So, they're uncomfortable talking about anything depressing. It is the same as they were back home as well.

They behaved the same way when they saw me here for the first time. They just don't know what to do now that I am less than I was.

[The fact that they come back isn't really the point though. It doesn't help as much as you'd think.

Then she shakes her head in response to the rest of what he says.]

[He figures that's the case because it would be a terrible consolation if it had been one of his friends. He'd been irritated by Gladio's absence back on Eos, and he hadn't been dead.

Although, considering his new scarring, he might not have returned at all.]

Of course I know being different from before doesn't make me less, but the fact of the matter is that I am blind. I'm not mentally addled or deaf. And they seem to think they can all walk around me as if they blame each other when the fact of the matter it is Ardyn Izunia they should be focusing on. Both here and back home.

[If he sounds irritated, can anyone blame him?]

I don't believe that he cannot return. He just hasn't yet. That doesn't mean we let down our guard.
