[Sokka looks a little older than when he last appeared on the feed. He's working on his ageing upgrades, but boy does it take its sweet time getting there. He also looks considerably tired, he hasn't been sleeping well for the past week- for a very specific reason.]

Okay. I'm just gonna make this quick. This is me, Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe, sincerely apologising publicly to Katie for doubting her dream catchers and how they work.

Is that enough? Please tell me it's enough I am really done with the weird cat dreams.

That's a real shame. 'Cause a polarbear dog sounds ah-mazing.

They are. [He's clearly very happy about talking about this. This is a FUN topic. ] Basically it's having a giant dog that you can ride.

I've seen a few giant dogs in my time but, uh, mine's mostly normal-sized. Nevertheless, he's the best.

[ all dogs are the best dogs, of course. ]

Yeah? Is he here in the Fleet, or still back wherever you come from? I know it can be a little hit or miss with animals here.

[He is absolutely angling to meet the doggo. ]

He's here. I, uhm, share him? [ it's complicated. ] So he splits his time between the Blameless and the Caprine, now.

A...dog share? Well. I guess there are weirder things that happen here.

I guess you could call it that. [ there are no easy words to describe the arrangement. ] Lucky was never originally my dog. I just -- borrow him. Sometimes. And when his owner left the Fleet, last time, I inherited him.

But the guy's back. So we share him now.

Ohhhhh, I see how it goes. Yeah, I can understand how that could have ended up awkward otherwise. Sounds like a dog share is the best way around it. Everyone still gets the dog, the dog still gets everyone. Everyone wins- and the dog wins the most.

Be sure to give him a good belly rub next time if you ever come by the Blameless. Just -- be cool when you approach him. He's missing an eye, so if you come at him on his blind side he might get spooked.

Aww a half blind pup too? I promise I'll be careful and treat him with the respect he deserves.

Nope, but I do have a feathered friend. I have a Messenger Hawk from back home. He's called Hawky.

[ a huff of breath. ] People call me Hawkeye. For a second, there, that's what I thought you'd said.

[He laughs. ]

Okay, that actually is pretty funny. Hawkeye, huh?

Yep. It's an aiming thing. [ ... ] But hawks! Hawks are cool. Is he well-trained?

Ohhh, like hitting a bullseye, right?

Um- yes and no? I mean, he doesn't wreck anything but he's kind of bad at...actually sending messages.

That's like a retriever who doesn't...retrieve.

[ no shade, buddy. and yet. ]

I know, I used up so much of my gold on him too. He wouldn't even send messages on our home world, so I haven't got a sniff here. Honestly, he's just a decorative piece to my captain's chair at this point. And yet, I still love him.

[ that's the thing about pets, right? they do do a great job of drawing out the unconditional positive regard in a person.

Oh yeah, he's really cool looking at least. And he might come in handy one day. Maybe.
