[ this is not his beautiful home, this is not his beautiful wife.
koujaku awakens as elegantly as anyone does on this ship apparently; groggy, confused, and with a weird thing implanted in his head that tells him that he's in space and he suddenly knows way more about it than he cares to.
his first thought is to look for aoba - ask for aoba? people are listening, right? he could care less about the other three that had been hanging out at his best friends place the night before, won't bother asking about them when he finally addresses the network properly.
on his shoulder is a small red bird who looks to be asleep. and he will remain as such because i have no idea if he even works here yet shh. feel free to ask about him though and why he has cute little sandals on.
or ask why koujaku looks so damn serious when he speaks; ]
If this is what Platinum Jail is supposed to be like, then Toue's got one messed up sense of humor. [ literally no one knows what you're talking about koujaku. he sighs, furrowing his brows, ] Anyway, if you're out there, Aoba, give me a call ASAP - my coil isn't working, so I guess we're stuck communicating through this.
[ a beat, and then: ] And if anyone has seen a guy with blue hair running around, point me in his direction, yeah? Thanks. [ koujaku outtie. ]

That's a good point. She was upset. Her Silent Friend wasn't here, and Boss Man wasn't here, and she didn't actually know what to do with herself without either of them around to motivate her actions. She felt a bit like she had on the streets. Drifting. Lost.
Alone.
But now she had collected him. So at least she wasn't alone by herself. he probably wouldn't replace anyone - he wasn't one of her kind of people, with the blood and the orders. But he'd work well enough temporarily.
A grin and a shrug. She could have worried. But that would have taken a lot og energy, don't you think?]

he doesn't ask though - doesn't bother to pry just yet. he's just really glad he's good at reading body language right now, or this would be super awkward. ]
I don't think I want the whole world watching my every move. But I guess there are some good things that can come out of it - especially if I got to meet someone like you. [ THROW HIM OUT AN AIRLOCK. ]

How to get that from him without words... She ponders for a moment, and then gives up. It took time for people to learn how they needed to understand her questions from face moves.
Her fingers flick towards him in an indicative gesture.]
From?

[ he hopes that's what she's asking, ] Midorijima, it's a small island off the coast of Japan. What about you?

New York.
[City. New York City. But everyone knew you long said New York if you meant the city so that extra word was redundant, right? Right.]
no subject
Did you live in New York your entire life?
no subject
No. Not really. Head shake. If forced to use words she's probably cut it down to: moved a bit.
She glances over at him, though, inviting more talk. He like small town life that much?]

when she looks at him, koujaku just shrugs. ]
I have a lot of people I care about back home, a job that I love, and I get to eat delicious homemade meals made by the best cook in the world. Midorijima might have some problems, but I wouldn't give any of that up to live in the city again.
Ah... no offense.

She gives a little shrug at his 'no offense' comment, and then nudges his shoulder lightly with her own. Getting offended over that would just... blow unnecessary steam.
She'd tried small towns. They'd been find for falling off the grid for a while.]</small 'S quiet.
