[When the feed comes on, it's absolutely Sokka's forge in the background, but the person in the foreground is pretty damn different. Still, as soon as he opens his mouth, he is absolutely still Sokka. There's no growing up out of that, clearly.]

Sooooo, that sure was two years worth of growing done in one night. That was a fun twist on the upgrades there, thanks Atroma. I personally feel spoiled. You shouldn't have.

[Yep. The sarcasm is strong, it's still Sokka. He plucks at the Drift Fleet jumpsuit he's wearing with clear distaste. It's the only thing that fits him right now.]

So, on the off-chance we don't go to a fun system with shopping next and instead go back to a horrible nightmare planet seen as that's in vogue right now- I might need to get someone who can actually sew clothes to maybe rescue me from this Beige Hell. Please.

OH! That reminds me. I got some interesting intel from our cavalry last month - if you wanna know about that kinda of stuff drop by the forge. I'd rather not talk about that over the network because of the whole Atroma's always listening thing. You get it.

It's not battle lines, Andraste willing, but it's better if he's told and told soon instead of him finding out because someone just doesn't know he doesn't know. These weren't just personal things, these were world events and if Justice doesn't like what he hears...

[He trials off, then sighs and folds his arms. Sokka deserves to know so he can protect himself.]

Demons and spirits in Thedas are two sides of the same coin, and demons aren't all nice and friendly like the ones that come from Earth. From my world, they're all very bad news.

...I'm pretty sure not all earth demons are nice and friendly, dude. Allen dealt with some nasties in his time.

[Just gonna...burst that bubble there. Of course, he has no real experience of them. Spirits are spirits. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're not. Depends on how the spirit is feeling at that particular moment in time. ]

Yes, basically, but there's no real way to do that and be sure, and I know of no way to turn a spirit back after they're changed either. It's kill or people get killed.

I wouldn't be able to judge that. Spirits are just...spirits where I come from.

Wow, so you can't even create a failsafe against him. You just have to sit here and wait for him to eventually blow up. [He doesn't flinch at the turn of phrase but there's definitely something dark behind his expression at it. It fades quickly, though.]

I'm trying to find something. Felix is helping out, and I might ask Hermione but she's going through some of her own things right now. And I can't ask Anders because I know he'll just tell me it's fine and how dare I not trust that his friend won't be dangerous. I know he wants to believe the best in Justice but Andraste's Teeth, I've seen this spirit almost kill someone for calling him a demon without knowing any better. I'm not going to just sit back and let him actually turn into one because Anders doesn't like a 'just in case' plan.

[He huffs, breath coming in a small cloud of mist despite the heat of the room. He notices and takes a deep breath, exhaling slowly to calm himself.]

Sometimes I wonder if being Regular Human Guy isn't a whole lot easier than Champion Mage Guy.

Trust me, it isn't easier. At all. Like...ever. You have to do everything else twice as well as the Cool Powers People to make even the slightest bit of a difference. You are better off.

[Still, he frowns. ]

Didn't Felix have that...magical gathering or whatever? Maybe you could ask him if he knows anyone? Ask the other magically inclined people around. One of them HAS to have a good answer right? And if you ask them in person, there's less of a risk of Anders finding out and getting pissy about it.

I'd argue that if I didn't have powers maybe I wouldn't feel obligated to make any sort of difference but you do have a point.

[Not having magic wouldn't change his base personality, after all. At least he doesn't think so. Sigh. At the mention of a magical gathering though, he perks up a bit.]

I dunno. Felix seems interested in making some kind of magical community- or he did. Maybe he's just happy with his magical study now. Either way, I bet he'd have the answers you need. Or at least be able to point you to someone who does.

Yes, I did ask him at the party Kirk threw a bit ago. Thanksgiving I think it was? Earth has a lot of holidays. But yes, I should follow up.

[He shifts, picking at the surface of one of the sweaters he brought for Sokka.]

It's just... difficult, too. It's not Justice's fault what happened either, and this seems dangerously close to punishing someone for things beyond their control.

I can understand that. And it's not like...punishing him, really. It's more...making sure there's a safety net there, just in case the worst should happen. He wouldn't want people hurt if something went wrong with him, right?

[It's always hard to understand. He never GETS spirits at the best of time, but he would rather they not get hurt if possible- that old ache of Yue remains. Of the whole mess in the Spirit Oasis. ]

It's better to have a failsafe than risk everything.

No, I don't think so. Not as he is. So yes, I agree. A failsafe. Just... I don't know if anyone would agree that's what it is and not straight up persecution.

[He grunts and tilts his head back.]
