Who: Victor and Yuri
Broadcast: None
Action: Iskaulit
When: After the ice rink is complete.
Victor had been both surprised and pleased by the response he got when he asked the others trapped with the Fleet if they could speed up the time table to get the rink completed and so many had come forward to help. It was pleasant to find that the people here could come together when really needed. It was a good reminder that good people could do amazing things.
And now the rink was complete and Victor wanted so desperately to share that news with Yuri, but he had to do it right. He wanted to make Yuri's eyes light up. He had convinced Yuri to wear a blind fold and was guiding him carefully through the Iskaulit.
When they arrived he could finally pull off the blindfold to show Yuri the finished project. The rink was still a bit on the small side, but it was usable. They could skate again. More importantly, Yuri could skate again.
Yuri was still.... very on edge after the whole... cannibal planet. He was having nightmares on the nights he could get sleep at all. He didn't feel traumatized he just needed to get that bad energy out but he needed.... he needed something he couldn't have. They didn't have a rink yet so he was just focusing on trying to relax and remind himself he wasn't there anymore. he was in space.... on a ship... that crashed.... and people died.
Okay maybe he does need to skate but he doesn't say that, he just goes along with whatever Victor wants. He trusts him even with the blindfold making walking kind of nerve wracking. He listens to the soothing sound of his love's voice.... he feels the warmth of his hands... he imagines they're going somewhere special. And when they enter the room... he can smell it. He knows. He grins.
"Oh Victor... is it...oh my gosh." then the blindfold comes off and.... tears fill his eyes. "It's real... oh my god it's..." he covers his mouth with his hands. Then throws his arms around Victor.
A pleased little noise leaves Victor as Yuri throws his arms around him. It's impossibly reassuring to see the way that Yuri lit up at the sight of the rink. His arms move around Yuri and he holds him close. It's strange, to hold onto Yuri and feel a tinge of worry at how thin he feels. Yuri's weight had always been a thing he struggled with and before Victor had been free to tease him about putting it on, now though, he feels so skinny - having lost so much on that planet. He needed to be at the ideal weight for skaters, not below it.
Having the rink will help though, Victor thinks. He had put muscle back on his legs and they can eat at the cafe after to celebrate a good practice.
"I brought our skates," he admits after they pull apart. He moves to set down the bag he brought. "They're in here."
There wasn't much to eat on the planet and no time to eat it anyway.... and besides he was so panicked... it was just a matter of survival then. But now... he just wants to get on the ice and skate all of this away. He reaches for the bag and yanks his skates out and kicks his shoes off. He throws them on and laces them up and he's already at the gate for the ice. He doesn't even wait for Victor. He just zooms off in a big loop with his arms out and a big relieved grin on his face. Sweet relief.
Victor doesn't seem to mind Yuri rushing out. If anything, he seems charmed and relieved. "Be careful with jumps. I'm not sure we've completely leveled the ice yet and I wouldn't want you to land on an uneven patch." They should be okay as long as they don't get too high or two ambitious. Right now, though, isn't about getting the biggest jump. It's about the both of them having something that feels right. The ice always does.
Victor finishes putting on his own skates and joins Yuri on the ice. He feels that same weight melt off his shoulders and he comes closer. He doesn't want to break into Yuri's thoughts intrusively though, so for now he lets his love get used to being back where they both belong.
Victor on the ice with him is no longer an anxious thing... he's grown so used to having him he just needs him around. It's a comfort now and he slows down so Victor can skate with him. "Fine, we can do twizzles then." he grins. "Like in a true pair skate."

"I would be happy to spend the rest of my life pair skating with you."
I choose a gif and an icon bc reasons
He liked practicing with Victor because he felt like he was getting somewhere as a skater that he'd never gotten to before. He was becoming a new Yuri that even he didn't know and he is so glad for that. And Victor.... Victor how can he not melt at that?
"Oh Victor..." he turned so he was skating backward and looking his fiance in the eye. "I thought about you so much down there... on that planet..."
good reasons
"I couldn't stop thinking about you either. I may have been planning a way to get to the planet to be with you, before others stopped me."

Yuri sets an even gentle pace, no rush, just.... gliding easily across the ice. Lazily even, he just wants to feel it rush under him.
"Oh no no... Victor that would have been bad for you. There was nothing you could do. You'd just have been in danger down there and I'd have been so worried. I was only as calm as I was because I knew you were okay up here."

"I felt better once I knew you were safe."

"They were right, I am glad they stopped you..." he reached for Victor's other hand, feeling the ring on it.
"I am so glad to be back... I just wanted off that rock but the whole time... since the ships fell... I just thought about you and I regretted so much. I thought I was going to die and I never... we never..."

He couldn't think of anything he would regret about his relationship with Yuri, except that he wished that he had helped Yuri win gold.
