Tarsakh 2 1369 DR - Awakening
Who: Syeira and anyone!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: The Marsiva
When: Midnight April 2nd (mostly to avoid any confusing with the April Fools stuff going on)
[It is not a graceful waking. The figure covered in a shimmery cloak suddenly startles awake, over alert, mostly fighting with the fabric as it tangles them up like a net. The person falls out of the bunk, making a sound like a discordant windchime when they land. Only then do they fight the clasp open and fling the cloak off, taking in a gasp of air, as if they'd been choking.
It's a girl, with wild curly long hair, the color of freshly spilt blood. She's wide eyed for a moment, before whatever she'd been dreaming about faded. Then reality sinks in around her. Definitely not Suldanessellar, and she's definitely alone. A quick pat shows she's been disarmed.
She heaves a big sigh, running both hands through her hair -oh look, she's going pointed ears- and letting her ehad fall back against the bunk behind her with a controlled thud.]
Is it Second-day already? And here I thought I'd at least get one night to myself before my next abduction.
[She shivers, realizing she's still cold, when the chill from her nightmare should be seeping away. She rubs her arms, and then awkwardly yanks the cloak out from under her. Standing, she puts the thing back on, and if anyone has been watching this little scene from the start, suddenly that attractiveness she has seems to kick up a notch or two. Magic. Now huddled inside the shimmery cloak, she goes about getting her bearings. In doing so, she discovers her communicator, after having accidentally kicked it a little. Oops. Picking that up, she holds it in her palm for a moment, realizing she knows what this thing does. A think she's never seen before.
Tsk. Nod. Just great.]
And I've been force fed knowledge about things I've never seen. Gosh, is it my birthday too?

video;
Syeira of Candlekeep. I'm honored to make your acquaintance, my lord.
[She'd curtsy but it seems silly since he's not in the room with her. Also she's in leather breeches and curtsies look really strange when you can see a person's legs, in her opinions at least. Maybe she'd bow? Thoughts for later.]
video;
Oh! "My lord", is it? I haven't been called that in quite some time.
[Not since he left Alexius's manor, and only by the servants and slaves.]
Please, simply "Dorian" will do. No need to muddle it with titles here, certainly not so far away from home.
video;
My apologies, I assumed. Dorian it is then.
You said you're far from home?
[Were you kidnapped too?! She doesn't want to make another assumption so quickly, especially after she just apologized for doing it.]
video;
[He's practically preening over it, but titles made him uncomfortable anymore. He preferred familiarity.
Plus, Fenris would likely punch him in the throat if he allowed someone to go about calling him that.]
But I, like everyone else here, was stolen away from my home world. My home world is Thedas, specifically the Tevinter Imperium. Which I may as well be speaking in Qunlat to you, I assume?
video;
[Nerd.]
video;
I daresay you and I will get along just fine. Do you read, Syeira?
video;
Candlekeep is a library fortress. I was raised there.
video;
[He smirks.]
video;
Beautiful and charming? That'll be the cloak. Here.
[She takes it off, and yep, she seems to dim a little. But she's half elven and all godchild, so it's not like she's ever hard to look at.]
Anyway, yes, if there's a chance to, I'd give you a tour. You'll need to bring a rare tome as the entry fee. A cook book from your world would suffice though.
video;
I see, so the cloak makes you less radiant, I understand now. Curious magic, that.
[And he nods softly, raising his brows.]
If only I had saved some of the chantry nonsense. They, too, could learn when the divines took a shit on which days. Finally, a use for those!
video;
Only when I take it off.
[Sorry, Dorian, she fails at flirting. But she's better at mocking religions!]
That sounds like a very detailed religion. We track when our gods die or get into domestic spats, but that is true spiritual dedication.
video;
[He chuckles softly.]
If not, consider yourself lucky. I wasn't even interested in causing a scandal and, the next thing I knew, I had someone clucking at me for doing absolutely nothing to cause a stir.
video;
video;
video;
Um, what else? [She taps a finger on her chin while thinking.] The overgod is called Ao. He is in charge of all the gods of Toril, and also those who serve on other planes. Then there's the Greater Deities, they have larger, more expansive portfolios. Then the Intermediate Deities, the Lesser Deities, and the Demidieties and their portfolios become more specific as they go down in importance and power.
They can also be classified by what race specifically focuses on their worship. For example, Lolth is a Greater Deity, but specifically is worshiped by the Drow elves, while Bahamut is an intermediate deity worshiped specifically by dragons.
video;
[He tilts his head a bit, smiling pleasantly.]
And what of you? What faith do you keep?
video;
Don't mistake me, I don't hold it against anyone who is spiritual or religious. If the faith is what they want, who am I to judge? I just...
[She squares shoulders that were drooping, puts on a brave looking, small smile. Dorian has only just met her. These problems are not his. He didn't sign up for personal drama in asking the question.]
If I could be less involved with gods than I already am, I would make every effort to be so.
video;
I see. That must be difficult, you have my sympathies.
[He knows that look, slipping on the brave mask, but he doesn't say anything. He's not going to begrudge someone their armor. Life was difficult.]
video;
[She makes the smile be brighter, shaking off the melancholy, the resentment. Best not to dwell.]
And I must apologize. I allowed us to wander into dangerous lands without giving due warning. But I hope I haven't put you too off. If you're interested, by all means, I'll happy explain as much as I know.
video;
video;
video;
Perhaps you could prepare a document for me to read? One that outlines the gods of your world. Just a brief primer, if you would?
video;
[Oh wait. She's had a thought.]
Do they supply parchment and ink here? Quills?
[Because this doesn't seem the kind of place that would.]
video;
Ah, you can use the device you have there to type it all and send it to me, almost like a little electronic book, of sorts.
video;
[She tilts the device, clearly inspecting it critically for a moment.]
You know that is both utterly fascinating and yet depressing. Books are...an experience. You wouldn't get that through this thing.
