[The video opens on Thor. For those who've met him, it might take half a second to realise that, because his appearance has markedly changed. His long hair has been hacked short, and he's wearing an eyepatch over his right eye. It's weird. It doesn't even have a strap. Even his armor is different, much less flashy and looking worse for wear than the other silver set he'd had previously.

The look on his face is a bit harried, but he starts off with a long drawn out:]

So... [This just had to be his first address to the network, didn't it. Thanks, fate.] Hello. I had heard before that people in this place could fall asleep and end up back home for a while. It seems I now count myself among them. I have to say it's much more confusing to experience yourself. I think it's been only a few days here.

[He rubs at his chin a bit, looking off to the side in thought for a moment. This whole business on top of everything else makes him feel downright exhausted.]

Doesn't feel like it, though. [Thor returns his attention to the communicator, with a little shrug and less of a pensive look.] I'll add it to my list of grievances against the Atroma. I'm sure we'll have a library's worth to throw at them before the end.

If anything has happened in the last few days, I would be glad to hear it. If we haven't yet met, I am Thor, son of Odin, God of Thunder, and king of Asgard.

[It still sounds strange to him, though he trucks through it as gamely as he can.]

Rogers, Natasha, I need to talk to you both.

Oh-- [He smiles a bit, though it's a shade deadpan.] And happy new year.

[Later, Thor sets about re-familiarising himself with the Blue Fish again, poking around the rooms and going through the kitchen cupboards. He could honestly use the distraction that pointless busy work can give, or conversation with anyone he happens to run into.]

It is at times. [Definitely this time.] But success makes it worthwhile.

Mm, can't argue with that. If we felt differently we wouldn't be doing what we do, right?

[Thor was always the top-tier Big Damn Hero of his childhood for good reason. May not have been officially his favourite Avenger, but a very close second.]

Perhaps not. For now, I will have to get used to the idea of being in this place again.

Yeah, that's the fun part. Um, but just like before, if you need any help this time around, say the word? Though settling in doesn't take much effort. Just mentally getting over the whole "ugh, this again" feeling.

[which in and of itself is a pain in the ass, he fully admits.]

[Thor hitches up a smile.]

Thank you for the offer. It isn't something I will speak much of today-- [Beyond what he says to the Avengers.] --but perhaps later.

No worries.

[He's not surprised; he was mostly combing for the sort of issue it might be and what sort of attention it'd merit. This sounds too personal for prying, so after a moment he shrugs a shoulder.]

Were you on the hunt for some food? I can throw something together, it's just about foodtime anyway.

I hadn't thought about food yet - but now that you mention it.

[He's always up for food.]

[Yeah, he figured. Thor strikes him as a guy who could just eat whenever and it just vanishes. Teddy does that.]

Any requests? We've got a whole cooler stocked with meat if you're in the mood for something better than rations.

[The mention of rations puts Thor in mind of the state of things back home, and he has to exhale for a moment to let it go.]

You're right, there would be meat. Riona and I brought a bear back not so long ago. I remember now.

Oh man, bear meat? I have no idea how to cook bear meat, I've never tried it. Should I get that?

[it might be fun to experiment... but he could also horribly butcher it, so it's roulette time.]

With fire, I expect.

[Don't ask Thor how to cook anything.]

It's worth trying, considering how much we have of it.

["Fire" he says... good grief.]

Hah, okay. I feel like potatoes would go good with bear. Dunno why. We'll start with that.

[He fusses about in the kitchen for a minute, getting the flake rations set up in a pot so they'll start to become almost real food, and gestures to it.]

Can you keep an eye on it? I'll be right back with the meat.

[Surprise he's already leaving, whether Thor answers or not. Try not to burn down the kitchen!]

Oh, sure.

[Thor eyes the pot while Billy is gone. It seems to be doing well enough without his input, so he leaves it to boil on its own. A watched pot never explodes.

He does poke the ladle into it idly, his thoughts turning back towards home. What remains of it. It's not ideal to feel this helpless about everything, but what else can he really do? Besides giving the pot a more sullen stirring than it really deserves.]

[A minute or so, and he's back! Cradling a hunk of wrapped meat in hand, rolling it around a bit. His hands are glowing a soft blue, and as he reaches the kitchen he holds it over the sink, the glow increasing gradually as the meat begins to soften in his hands, no longer as frozen as it had been at the start.]

Here we go. I probably didn't get enough... you could probably eat the whole bear, right? Asgardian and all.

[he's eaten with the Avengers before, he's seen how it goes.]

[Good, now he can leave the potatoes alone to their hot watery grave. Thor glances over the slab of meat, thinking it's probably just circumstances making it look like the best damn piece of game he's seen in ages. But, well. It does look good. He has to chuckle a bit at Billy's comment though.]

That much is fine! I'm not going to clear out the whole storeroom. I doubt anyone would appreciate that.

[Even if, yes, he does sort of want the whole bear.]

It's more than I've had in a few days so that's plenty.

Geez, you didn't even get to eat wherever you were? No wonder you're hungry. I start to get a little whiny after a few hours, nevermind days.

[After a moment Billy is satisfied enough with the defrosted meat and sets it in a pan to cook, thick slices of steak-like stuff that he's pretty unfamiliar with, judging by his expression. Still, he gives the potato mix a stir and digs through the spices, experimenting with what he finds. Thank god his dad helped him learn how to cook before he moved out.]

Oh no, I've had some food. There's just not much to go around.

[Beggars can't be choosers. Thor leans back against the kitchen bench and watches Billy's work with the meat.]

Oh, thank god. I was about to start summoning snacks out of nowhere to stave off the hunger.

[Not that the food will take long to cook. The benefits of rations are that they cook like fast foot half the time, just boil and let it rise.]

You need not go to that much trouble. I'm fine.

[After gallivanting around the universe for two years, Thor's learned to deal with inconsistent meal availability a while ago.]

It isn't my favourite situation to be in, but there are worse ones.

Oh, for sure. I mean, I'd rather be hungry than on fire or something.

["Things that are worse" would be a very long list, honestly. Until you reach starvation levels it's a pretty mild inconvenience.]

As would most people, I expect!
