ACTION - Iskaulit

[The planet is a great distraction. But it's not quite enough. Sometimes the stretch of a white field is a little too familiar, and he expects to see the blocks of a Niflheim base over the crest of the next hill. Sometimes Pryna races ahead of him through the trees, and he has to stop himself from tripping over his feet and looking for MTs laying in the snow.

Getting back into a routine helps, and a big part of that is heading over to the Iskaulit every morning and running.

His music is up louder than usual, and he's a bit lost in his head. But he'll offer up canned, smiling, greetings to anyone he does happen to notice.]

PRIVATE to Noctis

[It's a good thing, Prompto thinks, that this planet has fishing. Because getting Noctis up and out of the ship was a must. It still hurt to have Luna and Ignis gone. Some days, he still expected to wander out and find Iggy working on breakfast. He couldn't imagine how much harder it was for his friend.

The dogs were happy to lope around and stretch their legs as well. Gods, he was ever so happy to see Pryna. What a bittersweet gift that had been.

He's happy to play with Umbra and Pryna in the snow while Noct does his thing with the fish.]

Locked to Prompto

It is a life-saving feature of the planet. It was so happy and peaceful and... fun. Noctis hated it all the more because of it. How dare this planet be joyful while Luna and Iggy were gone. How dare the snow literally taste like marshmallow. It wasn't fucking fair... not to him or Hermione or Prompto... or Umbra and Pryna. Not that the dogs seemed to notice.

They were happy to receive belly rubs and head-pets and run around with anyone at all. The open snowy fields were a playground to them, they made tracks for nearly a mile just running through the snow and throwing themselves down in a fit of joy. They circled Prompto and leaped up and down wanting to play.

Noctis, on the other hand, was on a mission. He was going to fish every damn morsel out of the frozen lake he was on. He's quiet and focused but he isn't crying or moping. So that's an improvement.

Soon he looks over his shoulder. "Umbra. Pryna." and the dogs will stop what they are doing and run to Noct's side. He pets them both and urges them to sit... then he drops a flopping fish in each other their mouths. He smiles for the first time in weeks.

[Looks like there's another person using the Iskaulit for some sort of routine. As Prompto passes by the gym, he might notice a familiar redhead heading out the door, towel draped over her shoulders. If he doesn't, she definitely sees him.]

[Sorey isn't up to go jogging- he's headed for the Interfaith Center, since he hasn't been in a while. He's all dressed up in his full Shepherd garb, ceremonial cloak and all, but when he spots Prompto jogging he waves. Right, that Yuri guy at the wedding had mentioned a jogging routine, though Sorey didn't know Prompto did that kind of thing too.

The smile he gets back is...a little concerning, though. Prompto's carrying something heavy around him, just barely noticeable to Sorey as a shroud of darkness. There's a weight of fear and dread around him and though it's not enough to poison anyone, and certainly nothing that requires purification, Sorey is still worried for him.

So on Prompto's next pass Sorey is out there again, and he has with him a glass of water he holds out invitingly. C'mon man, hydrate.]

The dogs leave Prompto as soon as they're called. He stands up to dust the snow off his pants and looks up in time to see them each receive their treat. And the smile.

He doesn't call attention to it. Or take a picture, though he wants to. He was afraid it would never come back.

He's beaming himself by the time he reaches Noctis. "Good day for fishing, huh?"

[He jogs right by.

Then halts and runs backward, popping his earbuds out when he's face-to-face with her. He runs in place, panting.]

Hey. How's it going?

[this_loser]

[On the first pass, Prompto spots Sorey and responds to his wave with a well-practiced smile.

He doesn't expect to see him on the second pass, but he smiles the same smile, which becomes a bit more genuine when he realizes there's a glass of water being offered. He slows to a stop, pulls the music from his ears.]

Hi. Um, thanks...

[axi]

It's going well. [She smiles at him then reaches for her towel, pulling it off and offering it to him. It's pretty much dry.]

And you? It looks like you're making good progress.

[this_loser]

[He stops his in-place jogging to take the towel - what's a little sweat shared between friends? - and pats the back of his neck.]

Ah, yeah. Gotta keep in shape somehow, right?

[axi]

That's true. But I think you're doing just fine as it is. [Now she's downright teasing him. Noting the ear buds, she becomes curious.]

Hm? What're you listening to?

[monolike]

No problem. Try it! My friend's a water spirit, he makes this water; it's really refreshing.

[Folds his arms and leans back against the doorframe, smiling slightly.] Do you always run by yourself? I think that skating guy, Yuri, he jogs too.

[this_loser]

Um. Haha... Okay. [He doesn't really know how to, um, respond to that. He rubs the towel over his face, because it's sweaty, not for any other reason.]

Oh. It's some generic alien rock, I guess? Pretty good though?

[He plucks up one of the buds and holds it out for her, if she wants to have a listen.]

Water spirit, huh? Is it, like, magical water?

[He's going to drink it anyway. And it is refreshing! Though it could taste like silt and he'd drink it all down, having not realized how thirsty he really was. Normally he brought a water bottle along, but his head is obviously elsewhere today.

He finishes off the water while nodding.]

Mm! Mm-hm! We jog together sometimes.

[axi]

[A chuckle escapes her as she moves in to take the offered item. Kaname holds it up to her ear for a few moments before she finds herself humming along with the melody.

But she catches that soon enough and grins.]

It's definitely catchy. I wonder what Freyja and I could do with it...

[Her words trail off as she thinks about it, still holding the bud to her ear.]

Oh that's good. It's been pretty empty around here lately with everyone hanging out on the planet. [Takes that glass back, holding it up] Need more?

It's a nice planet. And peaceful! [A shame it was a snow planet. He hopes it doesn't suddenly turn into something awful and blow up or something.] Oh! Yes, please. That would be great, thanks.

Really? You think you can perform something like that?

[He draws back a little - as much as he can without pulling the bud away from her.]

Um, while I have you here, I wanted to thank you, for the gift. And the letter. So...thank you.

I don't see why not? It'd require some rearrangement, but I've got faith in our skills.

Oh, sorry. [She catches him drawing back, so she releases the bud with a sheepish smile.]

Yeah, you guys are pretty good.

[He shakes his head.] It works great. I really like it.

Um, oh, here. You can borrow the music if you want. [He doesn't know if she's got her own. He was lucky enough to have found this set at a waystation.] I've got a head full of my own.

We're very good, thanks. [His statement causes her to look a little relieved.] I'm glad. Honestly, you were a little difficult to shop for.

[Kaname momentarily looks taken aback before she smiles and shakes her head.] Thank you, but it's all right. Freyja has hers from home, and we use that often. It's how we got the backing tracks for our little show on your ship.

But I do want to know what's in your head.

The dogs crunch mercilessly on the fish and snap them in their jaws. They are happy floofs. This isn't violent murder at all. Noct looks up in time to see Prompto and he keeps the smile on his face. He is happy for the friends he has. It could be worse, after all.

"You say it like there's a bad day for fishing... you know you could always pick up the art." because nobody in his circles gets it okay? He wishes he had a fishing buddy.

Really? [That's surprising. She could have given him a rock and he would have cherished it. He's that easy to please.] You... you didn't have to get me anything at all.

[A nod and he rolls the length of the earplugs around the playing device to tuck away in his pocket for later.] Anything. Everything. Game show jingles, commercials, video game battle music and the victory songs, stuff I've made up... Lots of stuff!

"That's an awful lot of sitting still and being quiet." He pulls a face, reaching down to pet each of the dogs in turn. "Not sure my sanity could handle it, buddy."

The only time he manages such a feat is when he's trying to line up a good shot on his camera. Or with his gun.

"But you know I'm happy to hang out while you do your thang." After all, they'd always indulged Prompto's desire to pull over at every overlook and photo-op and posed for his lens.

Yes, really. [She gives a small huff of amusement.] I know, but I wanted to. Who doesn't want to see people they like happy?

[Kaname watches the player disappear as she considers all that.]

That's a variety. Most of what I know are songs we sing and the classic famous songs from other artists in my world. Do you find yourself humming along sometimes?

"Oh... eh I never though much about that." he can sit still and be quiet much better than Prompto. He's a brooder after all. And he might point out that Prompto has a hard time shutting up at those times too. Hi there, OPENING. or all in bullet time baby. Or.... lemme get this shot. He knows all the things Prompto says, and they are adorable.

"Well thanks. It's not just for me, I'm making a stockpile for the ship too. We can buy some food in town too. We need real food, I want to eat that gel stuff as little as possible." he is pretty sure it isn't real food. "And we can get junk too, we can go to that bakery we passed in town and clean them out then go home." and eat all of it. And be losers. He loves it?

Ah-haha. Well, it worked. [He laughs, one hand rubbing at the back of his head bashfully.

He nods quickly.] All the time! Or just singing. I'm not all that good, but it's fun. I think I just annoy everyone though. [If the groans and sighs that typically followed were any indication.]
