Sometime in the evening, the Space Bar plays host to a very interesting poker game; Kitty, in her infinite wisdom, having chosen that activity to keep their hands busy while they joke, catch up, and possibly scar poor Billy’s mind (Kurt).

The poker game isn’t closed to the four of them, however; anyone who wanders over will be offered a seat and the chance to be dealt into the game. So come! Pull up a chair and be dealt in, or just wander over and socialize. Distract the players. Just don’t set anything on fire that isn’t made to be.

[She's surprised how much she's marking time here. Winn's influence probably. He was big on remembering special occasions.]

I thought you were anti faith. I was just trying to make you proud. [Teasing.]

Should it be for when he starts cheating or when we notice?

[Winn was a good influence on most of the people around him; mostly Kitty, but it would be a lie to say that he wasn't one of the people who changed Kurt while he was there. Now that he's gone, Kurt hopes his influence holds strong on them both.]

As though you don't already. [The spade of his tail pokes her side playfully.]

Good point, likely he already is. When we notice.

[Him admitting he's proud of her gets a bigger smile than she'd like to show off. The tail doesn't help dim it.] You're clearly just trying to throw me off my game. [She knows he means it.]

I think by the next hand. We'll both be paying way more attention now that we have this bet.

If that's enough to throw you off, then you're a lot easier to unnerve than I thought. [Punctuated by more poking with the tail, before he wraps it back around her waist.

Kurt presses his lips together in brief thought, then shakes his head.] I'd never say it to his face, but the man's more talented than that. I give him another couple hands before we catch him.

Look at you with all the confidence in everyone tonight. [She smiles at it. She likes the feeling of team it gives her.] Wouldn't be much of a bet if we picked the same thing anyway.

So, what do you think of Billy? [Waiting until the youngest mutant isn't within earshot. At least she assumes not. She's not that aware of his powers. She wonders how much Kurt knows about his origins.]

I've always put my faith in the X-Men. Even if Remy says he isn't one of us, he is. [Because Kurt can't picture a world in which Remy LeBeau didn't find his way to them, sooner or later. As much as the similarities between worlds can drive him up the wall trying to untangle, this one warms him as much as the simple pleasure of being held.

He runs a hand along Kitty's arm, carefully shrugging at the question.] He seems like a kind young man. Bit uncertain of himself, or at least around me he is. Boy's a mutant, isn't he?

Same. [They definitely share that opinion of this Remy. She's mentioned it to the cajun herself before. She's also noticing how nice Kurt's hand feels against her arm, so she'll pour her thoughts into the topic at hand instead.] Billy's definitely a mutant. That's part of why I wanted to arrange this. Also... Okay, the next thing I'm about to say will probably be surprising but it's way more complicated than I can even unravel. His mom, or one of his moms, is Wanda. Erik's Wanda.

Mm, I knew the boy had powers, but something about him.. [Though he couldn't put his finger on what, exactly.

Kitty's next bit of information strikes him into stillness, his tail tensing around her waist. Wanda's son; he'd stood face to face with Wanda's son without recognizing her in him. Kurt swallows, Kitty's comment about one of his mothers clicking with a comment Billy had made about his mother being a psychiatrist and leading Kurt to the wrong, though understandable, conclusion.] Oh. Suppose Wanda took her wife's name, then.

[She smiles at that assumption largely because it's Kurt making it and sounding so accepting. There was a time when that wouldn't have come as easily for him.] More complicated than that.

I don't know all the details, but Wanda is magically his mom because of soul transfer stuff, but his other mom is biologically his mom. He also has a magical twin brother who grew up with a totally different biological family and they didn't meet until they were teenagers. That's Tommy. I met him in Marina. He's a speedster like his uncle.
