[That sounds like a hectic way to court someone, but not one Thor thinks is too strange. Asgardians have battle and war woven into the fabric of everything they do, though they haven't traditionally fought each other when matching up.]

I can't say I've heard of such a thing before, though it sounds like the kind of challenge one of my old friends would have made of any man who sought her affections.

Yeah, I er- the girlfriend I had back home, kind of still have, I guess, Suki. She's part of this group of warrior women, she's really proud of it.

[Thor raises an eyebrow at that, but doesn't comment. He's not one to comment on long-distance relationships, considering how much of his time with Jane was spent away. Not to mention he knows Sokka's been here for three years and counting.]

We had something similar on Asgard, long ago. The Valkyrie. They were great warriors, all of them women, and sworn to protect the throne. I count myself lucky to be friends with one of them today.

How do you intend to approach this fight then?

[Suki is a complicated mess of emotions and he's dealing with her by largely not dealing with her. ]

Oh wow, they sound awesome. I can really get behind warrior ladies. Other worlds would be way better for having them.

I won't be able to beat her with brute force, she's bigger and stronger than me. I'm gonna have to rely on my wits and agility. Do my usual thinking outside the box thing- that's kept me alive in other fights before now.

It isn't enough to merely survive, though. You have to win.

That's the tricky part, the winning. And then it gets even trickier when you have to try and maintain the winning. It can sometimes go backwards again without you even realising.

Well, if you want to test yourself against someone stronger, I would be happy to go for a bout.
