They're not that kind to me and my countrymen either. "Ferelden Doglord" is an insult they created.
[Because they're prejudice fucking bastards. Leliana is a exception, but even Celene has made it obvious that she doesn't really want to work with Alistair, even if he has the credentials.]
Of course, there's nothing quite like having your parentage hinted at distastefully in passing conversation either.
[He shifts his shield.]
I am Templar-trained. It's about as fair as either of us will get, I think.

[ Apparently not, if this is any indication. At least the ball didn't have people specifically trying to murder her... Much.
As for Celene, well. Leilani had dealt with her. ]
It seems as though we'd make fine allies at court. I hope it never happens.
[ Adjusting her weight, Leilani watches for a moment, tense and sure, before she tilts her head and watches. She shifts from relaxed to battle ready, gripping her staff. ]
Then you're ready?

[But, you know, there's only so far they can stick their noses before they trip over their own feet.]
I hope to the Maker that I never have to go to the Orlesian court. I have enough trouble in Denerim, thanks.
[He gives her a smile before going for a feint. He's seen her in practice, but now they're talking about magic.]

[ But that might be because they see an elf and nothing else - or, worse, an apostate elf.
She grins, though, all teeth and something sweet, as if she couldn't possibly be dangerous. ]
It wasn't quite as terrible as it could've been. No one important died.
[ But, ah, okay. Leilani shifts, summoning her magic and aiming frost at his feet as she shifts, trying to see if the split-second choice might stop her from being able to dart around his larger frame. ]

[Even the ones not married to Orlesians.
But, honestly, Alistair isn't the judging type. He just wants to not ruin his country while he rules.]
Well, that's all that matters. The important folks living can't possibly be anything wrong with that.
[He doesn't really mean that because he's used to not being one of the important people.
But then the fight starts and it's like nothing has changed. He aims his shield down and takes one, two steps back to avoid the obvious ice trap before aiming his sword behind the shield. He's fought a great deal of mages, both as a Templar novitiate and while a Grey Warden.
He's still agile and young. And without the usually bulky armor he donned, it's better to stay alert and ready for any attack. While he's moving, he's looking for any opening she might give him, but she's as good as he thought she was. There are very few, but he's patient.]
