[Oh, this is one of his favorite things to do at amusement parks. Of course it's easily anyone's favorite when they have special tricks up their sleeves!

Chuuya walks over with a laugh.]

I can feel your excitement! [He says jokingly.] I'll play a game!

I know, it's hard to contain.

[sometimes she's a lil shit. She sets three beanbags on the table in front of Chuuya, then turns to hop up on the counter to sit and watch. She gives the milk bottles set up an exaggerated gesture]

You have to knock them all off the platform to win. If you can do it five times, you can win the grand prize - [and she gestures upwards, to the big, fluffy stuffed animals hanging above the smaller ones]

All right! Seems easy enough!

[He picks up one of the beanbags and tosses it up and down a couple times.]

You're not gonna do anything fishy or anything right? If this game turns out to be rigged, I won't be a happy customer!

Do I look like I'd rig this?

[look at this innocent, unassuming face. Come on, she'd never do such a thing]

Having a cute face doesn't determine that kind of thing!

[A cocky laugh, knowing that no matter what she said, he would assume it rigged anyway. That's what these places are usually like, as far as he's concerned. But no matter, since he was sure he would succeed in winning this game.]

Whether it is or not doesn't matter. All I need is one beanbag.

[And with that, he throws his beanbag at the bottles, and with the help of his gravity manipulation ability, they all fall in an exaggerated manner. Because why not make everything as extra as he liked to be.]

[Baku, for her part, watches from where she's perched, hands folded in her lap. If it's rigged it's from the game itself, not her - her "rigging" would be far less obvious, if she even bothered]

Hooooh. [she lifts her hands to give him a polite clap] How did you do that?

[Chuuya grins.]

It's gravity.

[He makes one of the other beanbags hover over his hand. It goes in her direction, and if she reaches out for it, she will find it suddenly becomes much heavier than it was originally.]

I can manipulate gravity, so I can make anything as light or as heavy as I please, among other things.

[she gives the beanbag an interested look as she picks it up, eyebrows raising at the new weight. She tosses it back after a moment]

And you told me not to fix the game. Shame on you.

That's impressive, though. Is it magic or something else?

Of course I did! That's part of the act I put on as part of my entrance!

[He grins, always proud of his entrances.]

It's something like magic - an ability, to be more precise! I hear from a lot of magic users that a source is needed for their magic to work, but it's not like that in my case.

Does that mean you yourself are the source, or that you don't need to draw the power to do it?

Yeah, the source is within me. It's mostly controllable.

[He crosses his arms.]

Not everyone in my world has an ability they can control. And some of them can't be explained. But I think mine is one of the more fun ones.

Yours certainly seems like it's more fun.

[but something else he said has gained her interest] Humans who have abilities in my world are a bit rare, but it happens - and they usually can't control it, either. There isn't anyone to teach them where you're from?

It isn't about teaching, actually. Maybe that seems strange. But some abilities literally cannot be controlled. They take on a life of their own, in a manner of speaking. Depending on the ability, there may be something specific that triggers it and sets it off, and then it will continue on and on until something can stop it. Sometimes it's environmental, others need another person to step in in some way.

[Chuuya lets out a long sigh.]

It can be such a pain.

Ah . . . that does sound like a pain. [and she thought out of control powers couldn't get any worse] It doesn't get that extreme where I'm from . . . but it's still dangerous.

I'm really surprised by how many people I've met here that know about this sort of thing! If only because in my world, most people don't deal with it or experience it themselves.

[He pauses a moment to recall something.]

I'd say that the fleet brings people with either incredible strength or magical abilities, but suddenly I remember someone in my crew gained an ability while being here that he didn't have before.

They gained an ability? What kind? [now that's a little alarming. She knew the Atroma liked to meddle, but giving someone a new power they've never had before is incredibly dangerous]

The ability to make fire.

[He says in the most disappointed tone ever.]

He was so excited about it... but it was the same as lighting a match. Hardly worth being excited about, in my opinion.

I can see why one would be excited about it if they'd never had powers before . . . but fire powers are a bit overrated, aren't they? So many people have fire powers.

I agree with you! I'm sure it's as you said - if you've never had an ability before, anything looks fun. Can't say I blame anyone with that line of thinking, really!

[He nods with a laugh.]

Some folks are just simple minded!

I don't know if simple-minded is the term I'd use. I think it can be a little endearing.

[then again, she adores humans. Most things they do are endearing to her]

I would agree, but I guess since I knew the guy in this particular case, I couldn't feel that way about him. By the way--

[He brings the focus back on the game.]

Do I get a prize here, or are you gonna let me walk away from here empty handed?

Oh - right, a prize.

[she hops off the counter and gestures to the largest prizes hanging up] Even though you technically cheated, you can pick any one of these.

Great!

[He picks out the ugliest one of the bunch.]

I could've played the boring way, but where's the fun in that?
